I've seen two sources for such things in "normal" Sins: 1) Fleets phase jumping (they should jump grouped together but won't ever do that). If I order the first ships to attack, all ships who did not yet initiate the jump will later also attack, but all ships which are currently jumping will simply MOVE to the enemy ship without fighting! HORRIBLE BUG! 2) Ships with special abilities often have very low attack damage. I haven't yet found a way to manually FORCE them to attack.

Still attempting to wake up...but a few thoughts: 1) Could it be that you did not make a complete installation so that some sound files are used from the german only DVD? 2) Did you change anything after installing in german? Vista then typically creates a copy of the files in the users VirtualStore. If you later install anew, the originals may be updated, but the ones in VirtualStore kept and override the new installation. Screet

Welcome to the club! I was horrified by the german language version, and I'm also a native german. I even had trouble understanding the german translations, aside from the annoying voices. The thing that worked well for me was this: - uninstall the german version completely but keep impulse - use impulse to re-install the game from the internet and select english (actually, that way it was much faster to install than from DVD!) ...and then be happy abou

Best guess is a CRT that's dying and has trouble to handle the resolution, colors or such. Especially likely if la

Hi, I also get that thing, happening on the polygon borders. However, I usually never zoom in that far, I typically only can see those icons, and then the game is running in a graphics mode that's like a late-80's game anyway ;) If I zoom in, well, there's nice graphics, but it's not well possible to control things... You can copy the files. The difficulty might be to locate them. On my vista machine, they're stored in C:\Users\Screet\AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Save-SinglePlayer and it is necessary to show hidden files. I don't know where these files are stored under other Windows versions. Maybe you should make a search for the saved filenames after enabling visibility of such files. Screet

However, those little graphics updates are very slow for me then, and before the game begins to behave like this, it's simply slowing down. I also can quit s

Hi, I suggest to make save games when this comes heavily into effect. Then stop the game, relaunch it and then reload the saved file. If it's still slow, contact the support. The problem seems to hit quite some players, although most seem not to have it. The support people asked me for such save files and said that in the past they were never able to replicate this behaviour. I noticed myself that after restarting the application and reloading the saved game, there's a

Hi, I've got a massive slowdown problem, too. There's a simple way to rule out your guess that it's a memory problem: Reduce the graphics to minimum. You will notice that the game uses around 550MiB in that case, but still suffers from the extreme slowdowns! Someone mentioned that trade ports would cause it. I think it's multiple issues, but the slowdown typically becomes much more dramatic after building a few of those super guns like deliverance engine. The real prob

Hi again, can you report any progress on that matter? I myself have toyed around a bit...and am VERY sure now, that most of the slowdown comes from the big guns like deliverance engine. Might still be coincidence...the game was slowing down, but only after building 6 of these guns at once it immediately was very slow...and that over multiple games. Another interesting point is that the game still does max out one of my cores when it's paused and after alt-tabbing away

I just had task manager open while switching back to lowest graphics details. It doesn't affect the slowdown problem, but the memory consumption dropped from 1.4 GiB to 550MiB. As a result, low memory problems (from 32bit restriction on a 8 GiB 64bit system or leaks) can be excluded as the source. Again, it's only one core that is busy...and yet again, the slowdown did increase the most after building the typical 10-20 race dependend guns. Screet

If you've tried turning your settings down and it bogs your system even AFTER the game is over, could be bad ram. That has also been a problem for me in the past. Could also be your system isn't getting enough power, or an over heating issue but I'm more inclined to think it may be your memory. I would recommend you do a system test and see if any
