Also am waiting eagerly for this release :).

No sweat. Here's a Camtasia capture. I'll try to zoom it some more next time. You can see more details if you full screen it. Sorry about the pause in the middle, I hit the wrong command. Does anyone know if Vasari are supposed to have hair or not?
I like the strong brow line and the skeletal look. The one feature that seems definite is the odd oral/nasal cavities in the lower face. I've tried to incorporate that as well. For my diplomatic Vasari model, I think I'll incorporate some of your facial features. I think, regardless of situation, Vasari should always appear threatening to humans, as they are simply so, so different. Did you make this in Sculptris? Great program.
Hey all, glad you like it. Thanks for the weapons suggestions. What I really like about this, is now that the model is done, there's no limit on armor-type. I could even create a fully painted diplomat with this model. Sadly, The latest Zbrush update seems to have a masking bug. This is preventing me from adding accessories or changing the model's pose until it's resolved. I can create the weapon models, but I have no way to attach them. Should
Hey Major. I'm open to anything. The paint didn't take too long, so its not a big deal. The model is finished, so I can go back to it any time. For instance, for I more technological feel, I could turn the chest plate into hard, smooth armor very quickly with hard surface brushes. Here's a smoother render that shows more detail: <br
I've added some quick polypaint. This is a Vasari land trooper, I guess. Nothing flashy, just hard armor to repel TEC bullets. The model isn't completely painted yet, but this can provide a rough idea. If anyone has any idea what Vasari weapons are supposed to look like, ill add them on. Okay, I think the final level of detail is done. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks! It's a lot of fun. In case anyone is wondering, I'm using Zbrush. Note: These models will be HIGH polygon. They won't be suitable for use in games. The main purpose is to integrate them into 2.5D illustrations. If you have ZBrush, you will be able to pose them with Transpose, and you can also use any InsertBrush to add items to the mesh.
Level 2 details...still not in love with the leg spikes. About 2 hours total, now. Once I get in all the details fleshed out, I'll upload a turntable. (Mods, I'm adding this thread here because I feel that the resulting models/images can be of use to the modding community. Please feel free to delete the thread in "Fan Submissions) Hey guys, I've started work on Vasari model in Zbrush that should rock. I've been wanting to do this for a while but haven't had the time, and I noticed a definite lack of 3D Sins character models. So, here's to hoping I'll start something. Ok, here's the base mesh. Nothing special yet, other than the fact that it's ready for detail. This didn't take as long as I thought it would, so there's hope for a decent colored version soon. That's interesting about the AI. I'd be interested in knowing more about how the Sins AI is programmed. I haven't seen any files that tell them how to behave in the mods I've pocked through. I started the photo-realistic character. I'm doing Vasari first, since that's the hardest. There's a definite lack of reference images to work with, although the Vasari body plan is itself fairly standard sci-fi fare. Here's the progress thread:
Hey guys, I've started work on Vasari model in Zbrush that should rock. I've been wanting to do this for a while but haven't had the time. My goal here is to create a Vasari "marine". I''ll have to take a bit of creative license, as I could only find 3 images of the Vasari. If you know of any, please let me know. (Stardock/Ironclad, if you're reading this and you have some reference images for the Vasari, gimme pretty please) This is what I
Yeah I know what you mean as far as counters to devastating units in history. In WWI, the "titans" of the sea were the new destroyers that both sides had developed. However, the destroyers only met in combat one time throughout the war. That's what I mean when I say it isn't realistic for a titan's counter to be another titan. When an army has a unit like that, they don't relish the thought of putting it into battle with its equal. A titan/titan battle is far from optimal for
Cool. I can def help out. PM with w/e details to get me started. Zbrush excels at creating 3D models for use in 2D illustrations. What I mean is, you can create your models, paint them with Spotlight and then drop them onto the canvas. Once you do, the computer releases the 3D model from memory, and it becomes a 2D graphic. The difference for your purposes is that the character on the loading screen would be photo realistic. I Just think it would look cool. :P H
Goa, awesome mod, really. I agree that this is Sins as it should be. If you need modding help, let me know. I have 3Ds Max and Zbrush. I can also work in Illustrator and Photoshop. Question 1: Would you have any use for colored, high poly 3D models of the various fractions? I've been wanting to do one in Zbrush for a long time, but really haven't been able to justify the time investment. If it could help your cause i
LOL. No, I solved that. It's quite simple. The engineers do all the work and then retreat back behind the lines. The space station otherwise goes unoccupied. Who would blow up a bunch of soldiers or civilians?!?!! It's a ruse. No, it wouldn't work often on real people, but it sure is fun watching the AI fleet blow up, and on Vicious, its a welcome advantage because it cheats like a mug.
Awesome mod :) Any idea when the other races will be released for Rebellion? THANKS!
Thanks guys. I don't think its so lame against AI. They cheat anyway. Besides, its a smart military tactic. Low cost, high damage.
There's a simple fix to this: Give each faction a new frigate that is designed specifically for attacking titans and nothing else. Make them cost half as much as a Titan. Make them Kamikazi units that reduce titan shields to zero and HP by half upon impact. Example: The Tec's could be essentially a Novalith Warhead atop a pair of phase drive engines. The advents could be a small ship full of cle
Sins Rebellion works just fine on my Acer Aspire One with nothing else running. It gets a bit laggy late game, but its still playable . So that's an Intel Atom processor and some dinky video chipset. I'd say if your 4 gig ram system can't handle it, you're video card settings are screwed up. Oh, and that's without the Sins Optimization Project installed. I have it now, but I used to use it without on this tiny machine. Hooked to a monitor, of course.
Sometimes, especially when I play the fast expanding TEC Rebels, I just put a space station in a gravity well and upgrade it with Last Resort. Kills entire fleets when it goes pop. Is this a sensible alternative to upgrading the stations armor and weapons? I mean, why do all that when last resort is essentially a small fleet killer? I can see building them for the long haul if I'm TEC-L, but with TEC-R, it's like all I need is a damage soak with a big boom. It especially comes in hand
