If you play mods with Sins you should always make a complete/full copy of the entire Sins of a Solar Empire game directory. You can then launch that version to play your mods regardless of any patches/updates. cheers!
thanks for the tip, but could you elaborate a little bit? where do i put the copy of the directory? would i place it in the steamapps folder and just rename it, or...
probably. only thing is, i cant turn off auto updates in steam while in offline mode, go figure... i guess i can make a local backup on my hard drive in case i cant snipe the settings before it updates.
would transferring all the program files from my laptop to my desktop work? i still have 1.1 on my laptop
i just opened up steam this afternoon and sins updated. according to the mod folder, it is "Rebellion v1.5". this has broken all my save files. i googled and cant find a changelog or anything. i dont have beta access enabled. is this official? or another steam goof? can i revert back to v1.1? EDIT: just found the changelog, but i still would like to know if i can revert back to 1.1
which specific subscriptions should we have checked?
As I understand it, you could easily still the game on as many PCs as you own, but as has been posted, you can only be logged into Steam on 1 system at a time. Let's say you don't like to turn off your extra PCs, however - in that case, Steam will auto-log you out on your other systems, or you can put them into Offline mode. bump... cloud save still broken. havent tried normal save yet, and regrettably wont be able to. the only person i know that owns sins lives 5 hours from my home, which i will be returning to tomorrow evening
playing BY yourself and WITH yourself are two very different things... all of your hints at double entendres are invalid... more on topic, i was able to continue on a map (Storm Front) after wiping out the enemy and the pirates completely. i had eyes on every planet and there were absolutely no enemy units of any kind. it had prompted me with the victory screen and options to end the game or keep playing, so i dunno what you guys are complaining about
i never got an email :( but i preordered rebellion when preorders first opened up, and when the beta became available, i screwed up and didnt have enough funds in my bank account to cover the cost, so i had to re-preorder(?) the game, maybe thats why? luckily i was able to make it to starbucks today, and saw that the CE was available, or i may have missed it completely. im still kind of disappointed though, i really wanted a low serial number and so i have been checking both my regular inbox
Just save your game before every battle, if it doesn't go the way you want ,reload. Some of us want consequences to our stupidity.
Unless I am sorely mistaken, I don't think you can save a game in MP and then just reload if a battle doesn't go your way. Not sure the opposition would agree to something like that. Slightly off-topic, an annoying amount of games these days do not allow manual saves... I got
one last thing and then ill stop pestering you all about it. how will stardock know where to send emails when the rebellion CE is ready for those who preordered? in other words, where will they be getting email addresses? im curious partially because i may or may not have unsubscribed from stardock and ironclad in an attempt to stem the relentless flow of newsletters and notifications pouring into my inbox (my counter was jumping by about a hundred every 1-2 weeks at one point). i hope that i
whats up with you guys? Sins and that marketing gal (not good with names, sorry) posted on twitter a link to the collectors edition page on Sins' website. i rushed over to the forums expecting them to have erupted, kind of anticlimactic... but anyway https://www.sinsofasolarempire.com/collectorsedition
I would be cautious about using such a device underwater... I'd be concerned that the water itself would tear the projectile to shreds. In the event of the submarine surfacing you run into another problem: as mentioned previously the rails undergo friction, which degrades them. In addition, you will get electrical arcing (which is a big portion of the fireball that you see in those test shots). If a submarine fires the weapon

well, it could be a bit game-breaking. say i had allied victory turned off, and had to destroy that planet to win?
so, i was trying to send an envoy cruiser to an allied planet, when i noticed this...
This sounds reasonable - but there can be issues with that. Like when you play Vasari Loyalists, research aferementioned Dark Fleet Beacon, get rid of your planets/labs as you go completely mobile... but then you lose some capships in battle, and uh-oh, the dark fleet beacon thing becomes disabled, until you build more capships. But you cant do that, as your only way to build capships now is summoning them via phase stabilisers, which does not work
is it just me, or did a couple of threads pop up directly mocking your last post, Seleuceia?
i see both of your points, and apologize for the ignorance... while i have been here for a while my posts are few and far between, so i am unaware of most of the inner workings of the community here
Working as intended. When you lose the required number of labs for a tech/building/ship, you no longer benefit from the tech (or can no longer build the related building/ship). Being able to jump your starbases without the required number of labs is I believe a bug.
if you read our posts more carefully, you will notice we also mentioned that some tech does NOT return upon rebuilding of the research str
