if you're gonna make massive maps ya might wanna turn all your effects off and set the detail settings to low. it still looks pretty decent. the only effect i ever use is colored skyboxes, cuz i just cant play without em. its too hard to see your ships up close. and if the game gets laggy even after all that ill cut it off also.
B-Tec
do you guys still play entrenchment mainly or will you all be switching to diplomacy? cuz my mom said i could get entrenchment soon [e digicons]|-)[/e]
haha thats perfect for cobalts. all they do is die until you get them upgraded and supported. btw, tnewton, idk if you read into it or not because we discussed it up in earlier posts but you didnt mention it, the best technologies as tech are cargo hold upgrades, which basically will increase your trade and refinery income by 15%. but another nice thing is they lead to pervasive economy, and that makes every purchase your enemies make add income to you. if you want to be an as
lol you mentioned every ship BUT cobalts :P
playing as tec is like ordering pizza. you gotta have extra cheese, no matter what. think of the hoshikos as the cheese.
*cough* they also sound the gayest *cough*
with industrial juggernaut, rapid manufacturing, and that artifact that increases production time, just IMAGINE the fleets you could make in a few minutes [e digicons]}:)[/e]
yes, with TEC you wanna capitalize on their armour and economy, and also the relative cheapness of some of their units. and yes, TEC has horrible shields. but with their armour and hull upgrades, when you hear that "capital ship shields are down!" you dont have much to worry about, at least for a little bit. the akkan can get upwards of 4000 total hp with the right technology. as for good and bad technology, i would stay away from shield upgrades unless you have extra cash lyi
@Ryat: true, this would only work in 1v1. and the part about other planets, in theory if you did it right, he should only have an asteroid and off fighting the militia of another planet, which means he has put his money into developmental costs and extractors. and i understand the part about races, this would really only have a chance vs advent. @greyfox: i dont have entrenchment, so i guess i was referring to normal start. if you forgo you're first cap, yes you lose firepower and sup
hmmm true...... i can see this workin in a certain, not-so-unlikely situation though. if you're TEC, and they're advent, (goin off the starcraft, like zerg v protoss) they dont get illums till 3 mil labs, and most people wont have 3 mil labs 5 or 10 mins or so into the game. the way i would do it is build a 2nd frigate factory, crystal extractor, metal extractorx2, build a few scouts and get them scouting, build a mil lab, start pumpin cobalts, research fleet su
idk if it was mentioned, but the middle ground here seems like the best solution when you reasearch fleet upgrades, instead of the percentage instantly jumping from one thing to the next, how about as you build more ships, it makes its way from the max percentage of the level before it to the max percentage of the current level; and as you lose/gain ships, your upkeep rises, but as you lose ships it never falls below the max of the level before it.
i notice how everybody says "it depends on where your enemy is", but when it comes down to it, its still a strategy game, and you can pretty much use the same strategy once you perfect it and win most of the time, right? take starcraft for example. if you perfect the zergling rush, your gonna win 80% of the time. the 20% bein the players who have perfected the zergling rush counter. taking that same concept, you could throw down ( for tec) 2 mil labs and research krosov's, spa
the GOTY edition comes with a CD of the soundtrack.
this should be pinned, for people who buy the game and want to help the learning curve of A FEW FREAKING WEEKS lol
i wish i wouldve had this a few weeks ago when i got the game...
the fact that the egg is so damned big makes it a prime target for focus fire by itself... [e digicons]>_>[/e]
i was referring to the overall ability of the vasari to almost entirely bypass shields and eliminate armor... i had about 35 assailants with fully upgraded phase missles, 2 eggs, one lvl 2 nanites one lvl 1 nanites. idk the numbers, but thats at least 4 armor taken away. nanites eatin on the hull, and with a big portion of the phase missles not havin to worry bout shields it took maybe (yeah i exagerated earlier[e digicons];P[/e] ) but it was seriously somethin around 15-30 seconds.
phase missles bypass everthing. even condoms.
yeah i knew that the nano's didnt do it all but i was basically referring to the ability of the vasari to be like "oh you have shields? i didnt notice." [e digicons];P[/e]
i never realized how powerful the nanites on the egg were till i played as vasari last night, and with 1 egg using level 2 nanites once and an eggg usin level 1 nanites, along with phase missiles, enemy caps were falling like houses of cards. it was insane.. near the end of the game it took less than 10 seconds to destroy an enemy progen [e digicons]o_O[/e] kinda scary to play against... now i understand why vasari are pretty much the only thing that can go toe-to-toe militari
i colonized an asteroid yesterday and it said space ponies! and i was like wtf.... lol
ok rez. i gave it to you now tell meh [e digicons]:P[/e]
Discovery of space ponies is a very very low chance. Purely random.
then how have people who have over time colinized entire universes not gotten it? at kitkar: [e digicons]XO[/e] why hide it any longer? theres gotta be something.... "bad" ive done to get it... if there were a way to give negative karma you'd both be getting it right now.... [e digicons]}:)[/e] [e digicons]>:([/e]
space ponies. what the HELL are they? i went searchin into the forum and found a bunch of people who said things similar too "i was tempted to tell you the space pony secret" and "only the most vile players can receive it" and they seemed to know the probability of getting space ponies, so they know what the requirements are for them. idc if i dont know what space ponies are, but i wanna know what i did to get em so early in my playing experiance while some people who have played for
yeah i found the idea of 9 deliverances kinda expensive so i went with the 5 i had. but i tried out the different uses of it (i hotkeyed em) sometimes i focus-fired, sometimes i spread it out, sometimes i staggered, and mainly i fired it ahead of my fleet. after about 45 minutes of constant deliverances whenever possible, his empire was saturated with my culture. i had wall of faith fully upgraded, so my culture wont goin anywhere anytime soon. ended up the asteroid near his home over
