Raven X-nerdgasm. That is just funny. Very descriptive and sums up what many are feeling. Did you make that up or are you using someone else's quote? If you made that up I will come back and give you +1 to your karma. Sounds like you made it up.[e digicons]^_^[/e]

If this game comes out on August 24th of this year I will be surprised. For me, it is more likely to end up being Feb 11 2011. However, it is obvious that Stardock is hard at work.
Sounds good.
Very interesting post and responses. The whole issue of cloning is interesting because it's already taking place. I am no expert on this issue. My opinion is that it will be dangerous to us as a species at some point and that there will be no ability to save ourselves because of some related issue(immune systems, diseases, etc.). Maybe our scientist will make all the right decisions and no harm, no foul. However, scientists tend to be just as ignorant as others i
Wintersong- Tidal land bridge? FutileEmotion- Did anyone else get a sudden urge to use supply depots to block off and siege tank up the Henge? Gwakamoli- I don't know about you, but I'm picturing some epic battles over the bridge connecting the 2 land masses if 2 armies reach there at the same time ^^ Fardeil- Me thinks that it would be rather pointless battles for those who don't bother for soldiers, just a pointless bloodbath [e digico
This is just sad. Including Frogboys quoted response that Bill_Door posted. Had no idea he felt that way. No one I know wants to steal games or anything else. Go down Ubisofts path then you will lose at least one paying customer here. Maybe there are so many people who buy these products regardless of DRM schemes that Frogboy does not mind losing those who do care. I
Yep, multi map option in editor would be really good. This topic has been brought up before and I don't think Frogboy ruled it out completely yet. Many have asked about this in relation to undrground/above ground adventuring, multi-planes of exitstence, etc. It would also be nice for indoor adventures(ancient abandoned temples to explore, haunted houses, etc.) So some of the alternates maps could be very small in size to super huge. Maybe you could post some othe
Nice idea Cikomyr. One of the quest rewards I have received is a map that shows an existing city in the fog of war area. It just shows the city location and nothing else. Maybe as development progresses they might alter it to give a more roleplaying feel and make it a little more detailed. Old maps/treasure maps are great for this.
I am in Tormy's camp for a Greyhawk conversion. Tormy, I am also stoked([e digicons][/e] ) that you were able to post something on Greyhawk. I think Elemental in its basic beta phase already has many rpg and D&D qualities. The cloth map mode, miniture figurines that represent adventurers or monsters, city/town development, character development stats like strength, wisdom, intelligence, etc. The standard Elemental game is probably gonna be great(hopes)
Hi. I'm in the beta and have to say at the moment Diplomacy is pretty limited. Thats the case with most of the game atm because they are interested in making it pretty stable before they move on to expanding gameplay elements. There is a recent post by Frogboy that says they will take Diplomacy out of the game temporarily for beta 2. Right now in the game once you have built your first city the technology/research menu's come up. The different techno
Heya BBSGrasshopper . Glad to see your comments[e digicons]:D[/e] . Wanted to let you know that for the most part, pc gamers who play Turned Based Strategy games tend to be heavily male dominated for the exact reasons you posted. To make the genre more appealing(or this game in particular) to female gamers or
I would like to see an AI that doesn't cheat, provide endless competition and ingenuity. Wish you used a couple other Stardockians to help code though. For a game of this magnitude(grand hopes) the AI should not be skimped on at the beginning. I say this as a result of the MoM experience. We wanted to play MoM badly initially then the game was released very buggy and most left to pursue other gaming options(there were more unique, interesting titles at that
Hey wilebill. That story of Asimov is great. When I was in 9th grade(I think) I had a class called IPS. Introductory to Physical Science. The text book was a fairly small(for text book)book by Asimov. It was there I learned that not only did he write great Science Fiction but that in fact he was a scientist as well(not sure how great there, but still). The book was mostly about teaching analytical skills combined with simple physics. Anyways, aft
Raven X, I want to thank you for taking time and effort to help make Elemental: War of Magic a better game for all of us. I think your list of possible candidates is excellent and well represents its current online community participants. You have helped make coming here fun and informative. I believe Stardock enjoys your insightful commentaries and general gaming knowledge also. You have a passionate and compass ionate gaming heart.&nbs
Sounds good[e digicons]|-)[/e] . Definitely want to see a hereditary mod or mode where your offspring inherits when you pass on..This would extend out your play time for days, weeks, months, maybe even years. Family squables resulting in seperate factions might also be interesting.
I did read your post but you and apparently _Pawels_ interpreted what I said to fit your idea of what I meant. And I only care about gameplay, stability at this point. I've already posted somewhere else my feelings about this. Don't expect you to read every post but I thought I should clarify since you didn't understand my comment. Graphics, etc are very far back in my concerns for this game.
I think the living world will get fleshed out when Stardock creates the next level after the cloth map. I don't really think the cloth map mode is meant to be living/moving. It is so that people with low end or older systems can play also. Think the vast majority of gamers cannot afford to constantly upgrade or buy new systems every couple of years. Its a great feature of this game. When they go to the other active map creation; animations and other assets
Heya Stardock . I'm someone who is enjoying the process you have created for making a game. You have let us in and it is for the better. When I was working for a software co., we would back up our various versions as development proceeded. It seems you have embarked on a noble concept that people might be(not guaranteed) playing this game for years to come. I hope you are keeping archived your various builds
Hey johnwestendorf. I don't own the Ultimate Edition. I do have the GalCiv2 Gold Edition. The manual is not huge but does have some good hard info. I am a player who plays first, looks later at manuals. The Gold Edition manual is 96 pages long of which approximately 50-70% I consider good to know info. Hope someone can respond to your query who already has the Ultimate Edition.
"people are still playing MoM based on the original game play without mods. That game is 20 years old" -quoting KingHobbit. Which is one of the reasons I'm having a hard time understanding how people think 'Lore' is more important than gameplay. I don't care what game you create if its not fun, the lore has no bearing. Hopefully, Random House will fill in aspects of 'Lore'/storyline that make the gam
I like the idea of having multiple players on the same battlefield(more than 2). I could see where you could have maybe one or more players influencing the outcome of others battling. Would allow for 2 against 1, 1v1v1, some might not even battle just be there to add element of unknown factors to battles. As far as assassinations go I'm generally for this as well. I agree with <a id="ctl00__Content__RepeaterReplies_ctl01__LinkUser" class="hand" titl
I guess I disagree with many of the posters here(not sure of that though). To me it seems like the best thing to do is make the gameplay fun and then create the lore/canon afterwards. It seems like there have been several games that tried to say here is the canon, ie Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, etc. then made games to fit that were not any fun. Thought we were all about gameplay first, then the immersive aspects of story and plot development would then be added.&nbs
Loved your post leeboy26. A good romp of the past. Think the midgets are winning cause many like impossible odds and overcoming them.
Sorry Climber I don't think I'm really understanding your intent here and want to give you some constructive feedback. Only thing I can think of atm is that when the Soverign imbues the land to make a city, the water in that area becomes cleansed as well. This would allow for wells, dams(they had these in ancient times as well-so historically we have had them; ie real life), creeks, streams, rivers and lakes of fresh potable(drinking) water. And like you said "Farming
From a earlier thread someone had mentioned it would be nice if the humans took over an 'elven' city, and then with time, the city wouuld eventually produce half-elves(the mix of humans an elves). I think that poster had it right(what I would like to see also, but might not be possible). There should be many options when 'conquering' a city. Raze, enslave, assimulation, tension among the different races(for some), etc. Some populations should be hard coded for n
