If I recall, Starcraft 1 had a fairly good campaign. It's more than possible.
Quoting SgtHydra, reply 2Planets should be fine, though. Probably just involves adding a visual layer over the base skin. Problem with planets is things like mountains and oceans. Different colored forests, deserts, or other things are probably fine if blended together, but if on planet texture A there is an ocean and on planet B there is a desert, even a little blending won't look good. Thus even if they did implement it the r
And I'd throw in all the various bits of space debris flying around.
I typically love campaigns, but they really do fall flat on the story side of things when RTSes are involved. Bad characters, cliche plots, and a uninteresting resolution (I'm looking at you, Ensemble Studios). All I can suggest is that it'd require a damn good writer on staff in order to get any approval from me.
In a sense, the same way planetary rings are implemented. Some planets have them, some don't. All I'm really talking about (for the planets, mind you) is an expansion of that idea. As for ships, I myself am unsure of how to impliment them, whether or not they'd look any good, or even if it's a good idea at all. Really just brought it up as a suggestion for future Sins games. I kinda assume you'd have to intend for this modeling system f
While I think missions can be very useful in providing structure to a new player's game, there is always the feel that you're in some sort of binding contract you never agreed to. I was just playing Anno 2070 the other day, got a mission I didn't want to do, ignored it, and was sent back a soundbite that when something along the lines of "You lying cheat!" I mean, I never agreed to anything. How am I a liar or a cheat? It really should go somethin
Using permutations, a wide variety of unique visuals can be created with minimal effort. This technology is already being used by modders developing the "Black Mesa" re-imagining of Half Life 1. Using only 3 base heads and multiple different facial features, hairstyles, and facial accessories (glasses, pencil behind ear, scars, hats, etc); an
This makes a bit of sense when you're trying to retake a planet.
Yeah, it's the "sucks" problem that makes it bad at present. I actually think they should have a "heavy" bomber type for defense hangars and starbases and a "fighter-bomber' for escorts that can serve as dual role.
Holy shit, this ftw.
Here's a question: why continue to bitch about this? I'm pretty sure they've heard ya.

No anti-piracy? What? I was so looking forward to a constant stream of BS that prevents me from playing the game that I gained through legitimate means. In all seriousness, DRM just encourages piracy.
Commissar Yarrick. Duh.
I'd like to see a land-based game set in the Sins universe. Definitely good to put this into franchise mode of thinking. However, no land combat right now.
Magnetic Clouds definitely go on the annoying list, but the other uncolonizables are fine as is and add a lot of flavour to the game. The random map generator cutting off your early-game expansion options with these guys is another matter entirely.
Agreed. I think the vast majority of uncolonizable "planet" types (with the exception of stars, gas giants, asteroid fields, and wormholes) should be scrapped entirel
I have this same problem. Was this solved?
Clearly the OP is forgetting the retailer exclusive content and DLC. That's what makes a modern video game.
I'd like to see an official universe myself. Maybe not necessarily a playable with 100% everything, but I'd still like to see the regular maps being given a location in the Sins universe and some background as to its history. Anybody here played Dawn of War: Dark Crusade? Remember how you could bring up info on the provinces. I really liked that. Gave the scenarios some much needed life. Doing the same for Sins is pretty easy. And trust me, it does improve the game.</p
Let's just say, for the sake of determining the absolute must have, that I could only install one Sins mod and one only. Which one should I go for? EDIT: Oh, and could I get a link to instructions on how to install mods? Just a link, mind you. Thx.
Who's got more players online? Vanilla, Trench, or Diplomacy? I know it isn't many, but that's kinda why I'm asking...
The funny thing is that there isn't a whole lot that needs fixing, most of what needs to be done is pretty simple spit shine work. For example, pirates. They're broken. You could fix them in a number of different ways, most of which would involve no more than a code monkey and some testers. Heck, you could even add a "pay them off to not bother you" button. The pirates would set back and watch the protection money roll in and players wouldn't have to worry about babysitting the
