Quoting ARESIV, reply 3As mentioned above the faction needs to be played rather defensivly, otherwise you have to choose TEC Rebels because they are superior in anything but defense. How exactly? As far as I'm concerned most of the TEC Rebels techs are mediocre to bad except for Truce Amongst Rogues. But if you aren't going to be exploiting that and do a typical rush, I don't see why the TEC Rebels are any better until

In many cases I tried banking solely on the orky, just using it with no support...in other instances I tried coupling it with smaller fleets, but none that were actually ideal for supporting an Orky...against decently skilled people, the Orky strategy failed almost every time...while it is an easy w
Ok, so I played another MP (4v4) as TEC rebels. Albeit lots of players disconnected/left only to be replaced by passive AI's. Anyways I rushed the player on my left and eventually overcame him. By this time all my teammates had quit. And all the players but one on the other team had quit. My fleet composition was around 1000 points and included x1 Akkan and a mix of LF/corvette/flak/hoshiko. Un
Honestly, while the TEC loyalists do certainly need some love, I don't think it's a reasonable expectation to really go "all in" on defense at the expense of your economy and do well. Frankly even the TEC loyalists should be stingy and put down the absolute minimum amount of defenses necessary to hold a planet(just like everyone else)- their defensive perks should just makes them able to hold points more reliable with s

Reason: The - awesome [e digicons][/e] - new influx of players means that there are many games open at the same time. A function to hide Passworded Friends only and different Mod games would be awesome. Basically just a better filter than right now. Thank you for considering implementation. [e digicons]|-)[/e]

Even the non jump capable Orky is somewhat overpowered because: It is very tough up to being invulnerable in the early game. They only thing that does actually counter it is mass bombers. It can be built very quickly.... from a harmless colonly ship that is not even easy to miss but cheap to replace. It weapons upgrade are very quickly built, allowing it to kill anything effortlessly what somebody can field at this stage of the game. They ar

The factions can't be typecast so easily anymore (Diplomacy-era you could make a case for maybe). The closest you could get would be to discuss the different ways the factions accomplish the same things.
Arguing is the very point of a forum? Just call it a nice discussion.

I appreciate the attempt at apples to apples here and every piece of information is useful to those that know how to put it to use. I will say, however, that fighters ARE important to build. Fighters and bombers are more or less effective at different things. Bombers have a damage bonus against larger ships (carriers for example) while fighters actually do higher damage than bombers ag
To be fair though part of Advent air superiority isn't reflected by your tests: they have the strongest Anti-SC capitalship ability in the game(TK-push) and they can gain a large boost to strikecraft performance from Rapture battlecruiser.
Good point about abilities in general. however those are very difficult to test as much of them come down to luck or very precise timing. <
Why would the TEC go on offense? It makes no sense. They have the weakest, slowest ships. They unlock ship classes later than the other factions, requiring more research to do so. On the other hand, they have the earliest access to trade ports. Most of their early upgrades focus on improving the economy, such as armor upgrades for their trade ships.
I occurs to me that you dont play for long or online.
The deal with Vasari is they have the weaker economy in the long run but it is faster to set up. They have the early upgrades that give them +40% population growth. That means their economy grows much faster than TEC's or Advent's, but only up to the point when the pop cap is reached. This is why I write Vasari is all about aggression: They need to keep winning battles and expanding, because they'll lose in the long term economy game. A
And frankly the Advent-Vasari matchup has never been properly balanced. Before the illuminator bugfixe/Malice nerfs Advent had an overwhelming advantage and once their OP toys were taken away advent suddenly found themselves ata n overwhelming disadvantage against the vasari for pretty much the entirety of sins history up to rebellion(due to phase missiles and advent's squishy shield reliant capitalships).
QFT <
I see your point, Bilun, and it's well said given the current status of the game. The thing is, if there is a will to make Ogrevs and especially Adjudicators somewhat useful in confronting Titans, then it could be done reasonably. For instance, I mentioned before that tech could be added to the game and thus researched for warheads specifically against Titans. It would take some minor programming changes, but it could be done

Vasari The somewhat weaker early game isnt much of a trouble thanks to early Orky. Once in lategame and on a sufficient high tech level.... Vasari can steamroll about anything. Imho Vasari need a nerf in the next patch.
