I also disabled pirates. the idea was good but its like they are in some strange limbo where they dont really serve a purpose but they are still there. Id like to see them have a better role in the game. Pirates tend to go after soft targets. So i would make raid under defended planets, trade routes, constructors, colony ships and give them the ability to steal tech( chance) when raiding soft targets. Each of these targets would have a credit value and the credits coul

One of my favorite things about stardock games are how easy they are to mod. That is by far the best idea any gaming company has ever had to put into a game.I mod the game to suit my playstyle. The first thing on the list is improvements as i dont like a slow game. I would never use any of the "special resource" buildings in their original form. However, modded, my special resource buildings give a large bonus to adjacent buildings of the proper type. Unfortunately i still do no

Recently i have been experiencing crashes loading from save. The load screen will come up and load for a few seconds then crash to desktop. Ive modded the game so the map has a lot more stuff in it and i thought maybe my pc just couldnt handle the load. So i went from the largest map to second biggest and cut my major AI players from all to 3. Again it crashed on load from save. What i noticed was that it crashes after i complete all research( modded so i can comp
If you say so. You're missing out on a huge part of the strategic potential in Sins though. (and since you sound decent you shouldn't be finding the AI much of a challenge in general)
The original AI i didnt. I modded that too. I basically took this game and retooled to fit me. My aggressive AI is very aggressive. My fortified AI is very defensive but also offensive. I use the AIs teamed up. One attacks often and builds a fe
I think the biggest problem is learning to expand at something other than a snail's pace. Taking only the neutral asteroid and ice/volc planet after an hour of gameplay should spell doom for a player regardless of the map. The map isn't really the problem: the inability to expand is the problem.
From my understanding he tries to expand but keeps getting raided and set back. And from what he also said he makes it to the enemies planet

1) You can turn off pirates in game options. Or you can keep them turned on. They are not a bother if you know how to handle them and not bad to level up caps on. To handle pirates you have to bid against the AI players every 10 minutes or so( watch for the pirate raid imminent). They attack the person with the highest bounty. 2) You are on a terrible map. Play a bigger multistar map. Bigger maps are easier to get setup on. 3). Defense guns are not useless if yo

I think a lot of people are missing the point here. The OP doesn't want to rush. The easy way to do this is use the map designer to make a basic map that you want. For the OP this would be a mutlistar map. Then download galaxy forge and edit the map you made in map designer to be more specific. Put the AI behind one or two pirate bases at another star and you have plenty of time to build yourself up....without rushing. I never liked using carriers myself and o

And the AI is fairly stupid but they are more efficient at multitasking( such as exploring, colonizing, upgrading, researching, fighting you... all at the same time) and they get bonuses that give them a edge early on. So if they are to close they are just going to overrun you early and take all the fun out of it for you. You want a multistar map as player that doesnt l

I been playing MMOs for 15 years all the way back to when they were text based. No matter how people talk up how great a community of players are there are always ones that have to act like idiots. I dont want to interact with people period while gaming for a while. I always customize my games so that they provide more a challenge for me. I stack the odds heavily against me play on the hardest settings and use mods or mod the game myself to make it more to my liking. Sins is the only

I am having an issue with the AI and using super weapons. The AI players build a bunch of superweapons and constantly fire them at one of my planets. They never switch targets and they are relentless to the point of i cannot build any structures. As if this is not annoying enough. They never attack me. They send a token fleet every once in a while( i have all set on the hardest red setting) but no big fleets or real fights like i got before. Instead they jus
