Well what I want to be careful of is that we don't end up with categories with only a few files in them. If I wanted to keep it quite broad, what sort of categories would that be? I think I may have to have Replays and Guides in the same module for now, so I don't want it to be too massive, unless it's justified.

So by Total Conversion do you mean a completed mod? Like your 4x mod? I noticed completed Mods aren't in myfist0's list. However, Total Conversion to me sounds like it's been made almost a different game?
I think total conversion should also have its own category (I assume these are not mutually exclusive), so people would know what mods remove the base factions from those that do not.
Can you elaborate? Do you mean an all inclusive category or to have sub-categories under a Total Conversion category? Or just another line in addition to myfits0's list above?
The big problem is now the CPU, since most CPUs today are multicore yet Sins mostly uses a single core. The CPU generally won't crash your game but it will lag it to being unplayable.
Yes, my game has only crashed once, but towards the end of a multi-player game it lags and becomes unplayable, then others start crashing. I also wondered if the little ships that are going around a planet when you zoom in on one are counti
So the new site I'm building should be up in a couple weeks. I think modders will find it particularly useful as I'm putting a file manager on it. This means it can have all mods, maps, models, etc. in a good system. Each can be rated, has it's own update tab, discussion tab, and comments tab. As I'm not a modder, I'm not sure which file categories you actually need though. Please enlighten me as to what you think the file categories should
I still don't entirely buy the 32-bit thing... SC2 runs on 32-bit fine and can easily have hundreds of units running around with no impact at all... I'm no programmer, but it just seems weird to me! I LOVE the game, but desperately want it to run smooth as butter, on ANY system. The GPU should be the bottleneck (for low-spec comps) like most games, not anything else. And, I'm talking about no mods.... when the fleets starting getting big, it crashes...&nb
Great idea and should help the devs a lot. I suggest this needs to be stickied though or it won't work so well. You also need to try and describe when the error happened and the steps needed to make it re-occur (if not intermittent). An error that is repeatable is the easiest to correct.
I think some of the strategies above will only work with a true "team". I've been in this position before and just left to die by all of my allies... This situation just stresses the importance of team play. Some people just want to play FFA in a 5s...
I will be generating a ladder based off of the tournament results. Obviously, this only includes those that want to take part. Some people seem a bit scared. [e digicons];P[/e]
This was already announced awhile ago... https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/306542
I will add whatever is useful to the community. I'm working on a roadmap and feature list.
I would make the info card image separate and popup on mouse over of the button, just like in game. Although, I am not sure why you need a screen of every info card.
I definitely prefer it like it is. No point in having your eyes wander to other places on the screen. It already pops-up though and disappears when you are not on the button. Normal HTML tooltip. I've often wanted to study the researc
Here's a sneak peek of the reference tree image maps I'm working on. Basically mirroring how they are in game and tooltips come up when you move your mouse over any of the individual resources. Should be done with all of them in a week or two. It's quite painful to make them and involves a LOT of screenshots and image editing... I could have done it by a text database, but I thought this way would be quicker for now... <img src="http://i49.tinypic.com/4rb
I'm pretty new too, but I tend to grab Ice, Volcanic, and Corvettes first. I rarely do the Eco stuff and focus mainly on military, ships in particular. When I have extra money then I start upgrading ship stats. Not saying you should follow my advice though. [e digicons][/e] On a side note, I'm almost done with part of my new website that will have all of the research trees in them with tooltips. It's nice to be able to look at them prop
Turchany, you are mainly talking about balance issues in the current game. If the titans were balanced, then do you see this as an issue? I agree it's nice to have some uniqueness, but I disagree that the research trees don't give that. Ideally each sub-faction would have more than one unique titan to choose from, but this is just an option to consider.
It would make the Advent Rebels and TEC Loyalists more powerful. Would be a huge, much needed, boon for the latter.
I understand the TEC Loyalists comment, but what advantage does the Coronata bring to the AR?
Titans are fun and all, but I like to have a bit of choice. In a perfect world, we would be able to choose from multiple titans per sub-faction. However, as a stop-gap, what if titans were restricted to factions instead of sub-factions. For example, someone playing Advent could build a Coronata or an Eradica, regardless of which Advent sub-faction they are playing. You could still only have one titan at a time though. Thoughts? Would this "break" anything
Tournaments have begun. You can track the progress here: http://soase.challonge.com/
As you have been the first to respond, anything you really want to see fight each other?
It's all interesting to me as I'm still relatively new. Aside from fighting, a video about good placement of structures may be interesting. I've not see any guide on that really.
Americas up to 14 already! Europe only at 4... where's the Europeans!?!?
Not exactly. What you can do is go to the main tournament page which shows all SOASE tournaments running and what stage they are at. It's here: http://soase.challonge.com/ Also, please make sure you guys mention the tournament whenever you are on ICO. That would really help. We definitely need more people for Europe!
Rest assured, it won't disappear again.
Well I'm hoping that you and others help advertise as well. It's not just about me... Look, the tournament is done. It can't be restarted. I'm sorry if you guys feel robbed. There was only 3 games played and it was only around 5% completed. I took the decision to have two better regional tournaments than to carry on with a global one that had issues. I'm sure you'll agree in the long run.
You can't do things like transfer games automatically. You were also one of the ones asking to make it a regional tournament! The tournament had only just started and I did say it was a bit of an experiment. We learned that it wasn't working great as a global tournament, so we've moved on. I'm sorry if that's an issue for people. You had a good match and the tournament is just for fun (not prizes or anything), so just look forward to your next
This is why I've now made it regional. When someone is from the Americas and playing someone from Europe (for example) it is difficult to do any day except the weekend unless neither have jobs. The people that were active in the last tournament were also being active in the discussions. Around half of the people didn't seem to be active at all. Now that we have regional ones starting this Friday, I'll let them run their course no matter what happens.
