I should also add that after the first tournament, seeds will be assigned and this seeding will be used for the next tournament, to help increase chances that the best players meet towards the end of the tournament and not the beginning (like the Final Four, Wimbledon, etc).

Hi Guys, The SOASE tournament seems to be having issues of people that have decided not to play (probably announced it too early) or are having difficulties arranging matches due to time zones. So, I've decided to end the current tournament (and next planned global tournament) and start the new and improved regional tournaments this Friday . The signup pages are: http://soase.challonge.com/
Anything that can help beginners like me is a good thing. [e digicons][/e] I watched your scouts/ribbons one, which was interesting, but a shame about all of the technical issues with the maps. You might want to remake that one as it felt like it could have been 2-3 minutes long without the issues.
I was playing a 5s with some experience players last night. HowThe?[DT] had about half of the map controlled and was carrying our team pretty much solo with the heavy use of VR roving starbases (this was a no rules game). It definitly showed me the power of these things. I then went on to play my 1v1 tournament game and lost to the strategy of building orkulus's in all of my planets gravity wells... I'm sure that can be countered, but it wasn't easy for me!
Level 10 Titans are pretty rare. I had one in a mm game a couple weeks ago and was killing another titan, starbase, and a big fleet at the same time (with just my titan). I think it's nice to have a cap so you can feel great when you get to it.
I almost always go with Colonize capital ships first. Just find it quicker to expand and they are still not bad in a fight.
For those finding out about this now and wishing they could take part or those in the tourney and having fun. I've setup the next tournament here . It will start after the current tournament ends.
Battle commenced! Good luck to everyone. 19 players signed up in the end. I think that's a great result! I'll post round updates on here.
The start of the tournament is imminent. 17 so far. Join before it starts! Last chance!
Sounds more like your computer is dying, not SoaSE... I have no problems with it loading...
Up to 15 players now with 6 days until the start of the tournament. Not too late to join!
Wow this looks great! I'm in Also, I think you'll have more luck filling the tournament if you post this in the 'Sins Multiplayer' section, rather than in 'multiplayer organiser'. The ICO regulars only post and probably only read on 'Sins Multiplayer'
Thanks PlayerSlayer for joining and the advice. I've done a repost in that forum now. Next time I'll post the tourna
This is posted in Multiplayer Organizer here , but PlayerSlayer advised to post it here as well. Currently 12 players have signed up with a week to go before the tournament starts. It's also been advertised in the official Steam community by Yarlen and the Reddit group. So one thing that seems to be missing is some organized tournaments. As such, I'm going to start hosting some tournaments thro
Thanks for the info ARESIV. I figured some things I had simply not figured out yet. As for your Blind Pick comment. I know you can choose Random, but that's not what I mean by Blind Pick, as you don't have control over that. I mean both players/teams picking what they want, but the other player/team not being able to see their picks. On you preferring the hiding of unlearned abilities, clearly I disagree. The thing is, unlearned ships are still
So I've been playing SOASE for over a month now and thought it would be good to give my impressions and suggestions for the game. I wanted to do this before I get assimilated into a tolerance for things that aren't perfect. I've been gaming for over 25 years (from good 'ole BBS days) and have played a countless amount of games, and contributed to the development of many. However, when I first played SOASE, I had the rare feeling that I'm playing a game
Now up to 10 people! We can do better than that though. Come on people, it's just a bit of fun. Yes, I'm talking to you that's reading this right now and hasn't signed up yet!

Hi Guys, I've now started development on a new (non-profit, ad-free) site to support the community. This site will have the following features: MOD, Map, Textures Archives - These can be rated, updated by author, etc. You can view most popular, most downloaded, etc. What I'm not sure of is if it should also have replays and/or screenshot gallery. Various interactive reference pages... like reference trees with tooltips for example. It wo
I think we should stay away from people having to download special maps for the tournament. I'd rather get the best alternative and just run with that. This is just a tournament for fun, not $1000 or anything. [e digicons]|-)[/e]
So for map we need a competitive one and one that doesn't lead to really long games... something like "Tiny - Competitive"? Or would you rather do "Small - Competitive"? Or something else? Again, whatever the majority want, but I think it needs to be a competitive mode one to ensure people get fair starting positions.
I had a quick thought as to the rules. Should, for VL, we allow The Maw but ban Desperation? The latter seems to be the one that most people have the problem with, since it can take out herds of corvettes and practically anything else. This would make the VL titan, however, not particularly useful in comparison to others until it reaches lvl 6 for The Maw... Just a thought.
I'll go along with whatever
We have six sign-ups so far and it starts on March 1st. I'm aiming to get at least 16 to have a nice tournament. Remember this is for all skill levels. Please spread the word about it. Thanks.
Aye, good job! I'm going to create an Event for this on the official Sins: Rebellion Steam Community as well.
Awesome! Thanks for the support.
You should see a sign-up page now. Let me know if you don't. Thanks for joining in!
@Ekko_Tek - Yes this is a 1v1 tournament. I'll add that to the OP to make it more clear. @KSSSWM - The website build a ladder and does all of that hard work for us. Ideally everyone is given a seed and it uses those seeds to make the bracket in a standard way (like the Final Four tournament). It tries to make it so that high seeds don't face eachother until the later stages of the tournament. To start with though, it will just randomize everyone.
