Well, we pretty much know this is happening right? 1) They changed the Facebook logo to a 2 2) They are hiring more people, including Creative Writers amongst other things (which might be for a campaign) 3) They are fixing the foundations of the game, but not adding new features, and coincidentally staying below v2.0 (though that might be nothing) I mean... plenty of signs even if you disregard number 3.

All of this art is amazing! My art never progressed beyond the toddler years unfortunately. :)
So from asking around, seems like the main things that would be good to start with are reference materials (research trees, ship database, planet types, etc.) and for utility a tool that tells you which ships counter others.
I'm a bit crazy and I've decided to make my first app. I spend 4 hours a day on trains and thought it would be a good use of my time. Since I love SOASE, I thought it would be as good as anything to do. However, I was curious what things people would like to see on an app for the game. To clarify, I'm not making a SOASE replica game (not that good!), but rather a utility app. I'm thinking things like research trees, ships database, etc. So
I've looked for way too long and can't find it, but I don't think you all would be trolling me, so will just accept that it's true. :)
It is. El Presidente said it's in the works on Steam a while back.
Are you teasing me? Or have they actually confirmed they are working on SOASE 2? Source link?
Sins of a Dark Age has been unsupported for quite a while now (last June or so?). What is Ironclad working on? I really hope it's SOASE 2!
I've now made these so anyone can download them and look at them locally. The files are here . Just unzip the folder and run index.html. Please let me know if there are any issues with the files. Enjoy! P.S. - It's 20MB, that's as small as I could get it since it involves hundreds of images. P.S.2. - Feel free to use this on your own websites, guide
The links appear broken to me now?
Does it just freeze or does it slow down gradually and then freeze? Have you looked at your CPU utilization?
FYI- I've put this back online and will be fixing any changes in the very near future (and adding more useful resources). It's here temporarily until I finish setting up the proper site for it. EDIT: Removed link as it's now downloadable (see OP) so no need to host it.
um ya... how much space and what's the cost? http://soase.x90x.net is free with some limitations. Is it worth the move? I already have a small group of 3 people that can moderate
I have it on the Basic plan here . It's only $12/qtr. I've already paid for three months up-front. It's a very good host,
Due to some personal reasons, I've decided to give up web development for now (on all projects). I will provide the website files to anyone that wants them (I would attach them, but they are 30MB zipped). Also, if there is someone who is serious about taking the site over and evolving it then PM me. Failing that, I will donate soase.com to Stardock or Ironclad.
May I suggest a bit of a border on the left. Most sites now a days stick to a 1024 wide center element.
It's only got a handful of CSS right now that isn't default. I will make it a lot better over time and add other things to the site as well. @ARESIV - Actually, I was considering implementing a better wiki on my site. [e digicons];P[/e] Wikia is OK, but I'm not a fan of mass advertising.
EDIT: I've now made these so anyone can download them and look at them locally. The files are here . Just unzip the folder and run index.html. I FINALLY finished the research trees image maps with tooltips. I really don't want to say how many hours I spent on it... Anyway, it's a bit rough right now, but wanted to get it up to start with. I tested it on my A
If you researched more fleet than him you will also get a lower % of your income.
What is your i7 clocked at?
i7-920 @ Stock 2.67 It does run the game fine, until there are large fleets battling. I wasn't sure if any system change would aid with that though or if it's just the game limitations. I don't mind spending a bit of money if it makes a difference.
For best specs you need a single core 32-bit processor with 2 Gigs of RAM. Anything higher will cause issues. After that having a good video card is helpful.
If a dual core is more than twice as fast as the single core isn't it better to get that and tell the other processes to use one core and SOASE to use the other? In addition to the processors mentioned above, there is a G465 Celeron Ivy Bridge Single Core 1.9Ghz
What is best setup for SOASE currently? Processor i3 3240 3.4 Dual Core (Ivy Bridge) i5 3470T 2.9 Dual Core (Ivy Bridge) Pentium G2130 3.2 Dual Core (Ivy Bridge) or something else? AMD? Do the number of threads matter? Chipset Does the chipset matter much? Graphics
Arrows like that are used in Aurebesh. See post #18. You might be onto something. Maybe the wrote it in Aurebesh and the randomly erased bits and pieces to make it harder. I also wondered why about 7/8 characters from the end there looks like two E's, but they are different widths.
Guys, linking to wherever you want it to link to is more than fine with me. In fact, it's better because it keeps my bandwidth down on the site! I can create the links myself, but I would prefer that the authors do that. This is because there is also an update tab where you can put a change-log, but it's up to you. I'm just trying to help with the mod components people would like in a central place and a master link list to the mods available, like Seleucei
I'm talking about the mod files itself as a file sharing device. If you have something similar to Rick's galaxy that has links to where the mod may be downloaded, then that's fine. I think overall the ideas are fine for this project, but don't expect everyone to leave moddb or their own hosting sites to jump on board with their projects.
I won't allow my mod to be posted here... no offense or anything. I bet most other mods beyond simple one offs would want their work here either.
Umm...why not? Everyone else has been very supportive including Yarlen. This is a non-commercial site aimed at providing the tools, reference, and files that are currently spread all over the place. You can also provide a link instead of a file that will ta
There's also Aurebesh from Star Wars, but it doesn't look quite like that either...
my comment was not for mods, I thought there was to be modding files sections, so if someone wanted to share their planet textures or something, there was a place to upload. Skydrive is kinda fugly to use but better than nothing.
Well I plan on having it have mods and mod resources. Or simply put, all files that are useful to soase players/modders.
