Yeah, that's normal because the game and tech were built for the default government, the Colonial Charter. So it's normal that you will still see stuff related to the default government type in the tech tree. We actually see stuff related to other gov. also from time to time.

I don't know. I shared your save with the team, haven't really heard anything more on that front. V4.1 had a lot of fixes for the lag, but I know there were more instance of it, having saw some myself. We'll just have to wait and see what happens next.

Not sure what's up with that then! I'll let the team know so they can take a look tomorrow. In the mean time you can click the ... buttons on the customize your civ screen when starting a new game in order to change your default government. You're not forced to use the one the game assigns to you automatically!

About issue #1, have you tried to finish the turn and look at the numbers again ? A lot of stuff are only updated until the next turn, or until you move the tax sliders, or some other thing that does trigger a refresh. Even after a save reload it does take one turn to go back to normal. Having said that I'll forward it to the team cause it is indeed a bit strange how it behaves. For issue #2 it would be very helpful if you could share a save file found at %userprofile%\Documents\My Ga

[quote who="Flytarget69" reply="4145843" id="542278"] Are you guys sure the beta build didn't get pushed out to the public build? The change in starting government is very much different now when I start a new game. I no longer start with the colonial Charter, but one of the new government types instead. I also start with a battleship and two enforcer ships now where I didn't before. The patch version says 4.01 but when I check the date of the last update, both public and insiders bui

[quote who="orion" reply="4145690" id="542164"] Question from the modding side: are the new governments data driven the way policies are, or is a lot of this hardcoded? Being able to define a custom government with its own screen and its own resource would open up a lot. If the screens are fixed then were limited to reskinning the ones that shipped, which is a much smaller sandbox. Also curious whether the party and senate side is extensible or whether those lists are closed.<

That's good feedback. What you guys are saying is that you'll like too see a stronger narrative track woven into the galactic map itself. Quite an interesting idea, which would require a lot of creative work indeed! You can already do a lot of that through events and even chain of events if you'd want to mod that in the game. There's no text space for background lore on planets though. I'll pass it along!

You mean while they are surveying and are getting attacked at the end of the turn processing by monster or pirates ? Yeah it would be nice if there was a warning stopping the end of the turn when something dangerous came in range of one of your Flag Ship doing surveying.
