What if Demolitions Team reduced the cooldown on Boarding Party, possibly with a small AM return (10 + 5/level) if detonating a non-boarded ship (i.e. one with more bits of still-intact equipment to salvage)? Whoever's planting shaped charges around the ship to blow it up is presumably evacuating before hitting the button, and they must be going somewhere, why not back to the Corsev for redeployment, thus the cooldown reduction. The AM return compensates for the fact that Boarding Party i

Also, all players should bribe the pirates to stay away from them, with the player offering the least amount of money being attacked. That way each player would have a fair chance in bidding and players could not gang up on one player to put up obnoxious amounts of money on them.[/quote]Isn't

I can't remember who did the math a while back, but keep in mind that the money earned from extending your trade route's length is significantly less than the money earned per trade port. In your example, destroying the trade port on Hakone will reduce your total income, not increase it. Unless your trade route will be longer by at least 6 by not building the trade port, you're losing income by skipping the world.

Why on earth should the devs waste time implementing, testing, and supporting an easy-mode button for one person's personal preferences about how a strategy game is supposed to work? Why would they fritter away their efforts on such a pointless exercise when they could be working on the entire product for a portion of their customer base that numbers more than one?

I saw something in one of my previous games that leads me to believe what's happening is the strikecraft LAUNCH is prevented in the plasma storm, not the PRESENCE of fighters. Moreover, if the carriers sit outside the gravwell they are apparently not under the effects of the storm, allowing them to launch their fighters and bombers freely. I noticed that when carriers first enter a plasma storm node while outside the gravwell, they will immediately launch their strikecraft and the craft a

When multiple capital ships are in a fleet, the fleet leader changes every time a capital ship levels up. This means that hitting '1' to select a fleet will give you a different capship throughout the game as they level up, as will setting the fleet as a rally point. Moreover, using Tab to cycle the selected ship in the selection will not always cycle to the next cap ship in the fleet even if it is the next cap ship listed. For example, I have a fleet that was formed around an

Be glad it was only your adjuticators that got whisked away into darkspace. I had it happen to a level 6 Marza and level 4 Dunov. That was.... not fun.

@OP That's how everything in SoaSE work actually. As long as the pre-reqs are queued up, you can add the things those researches unlock to your build queue. The structures/buildings will not start construction until their pre-reqs are met however. You can queue up structures after queuing up the logistics/tactical planetary upgrade that would provide the room to build them. You can queue up frigates and cruisers once you've queued up the researches that unlock them.</p

It would be fantastic to have though, especially since it's a rather simple change to make and provi

It may have also healed itself through armor and shield regeneration to the point where the ability's damage was insufficient to kill the ship. You might as well just keep shooting the ship until death to ensure you get the capture. Yeah, you don't quite as much effect out of the damage on the ability, but capturing the ship is the real prize of the ability anyway. And then blowing them up.

Most of the buttons were disabled to prevent silliness like "Go destroy twenty tactical structures in 10 minutes. I'll give you 100 shiny credits if you do." That wasn't exactly balanced, so one of the Diplomacy patches locked the parameters based on the mission type being offered. This also meant the AI couldn't do the same thing to you, which meant much rarer auto-fail missions were offered.

Nay, that's an issue that can crop up if the Steam server you're connecting to is too busy. Keep poking at it and it'll go through shortly, or you can set your server in the downloads options of Steam to somewhere on the opposite side of the world. It's honestly not a bad idea regardless as all of the Steam servers are good servers, and any bandwidth loss from the travel distance of your data packets will be negligible compared to not dealing with busy servers.

Its equal across the board, if one player can do it. then so can the other players. Its not unbalanced. to me, having a Titan early will keep those who like mass building frigates and trying to rush you. The Titan is the great equalizer. and I like it this way. Again, this is a matter of choice for each player. you either decide to

Why not save your game and pick it up later if it's hard to get through one in a single go? I rarely complete anything beyond a 2v2 (and sometimes not even 2v2s) in one sitting. Even mutliplayer matches can be saved and resumed. To answer your mod questions, no and no. Sorry. How is Steller Impact by the way? I've been meaning to check that out.

This is true only if the game presents a lot of bugs or is still unbalanced, otherwise it's always better to allow everybody to try everything. And the beta has a lot of bugs and is notably unbalanced. So......yeah.

There will be no retail releases for any announced Stardock games (this includes Elemental: Fallen Enchantress). It's not cost effective (as in, retailers hate PC games because there's no profitable used games market for them to leech off of).

Regarding demolition upgrade, that's one you should just take off auto-cast and handle yourself. It's quite handy with captured pirates and structures since they don't have any shields for the boarding action to restore, so you might as well just pop 'em if there are any nearby ships to get hit by it. Even level 1 can deal thousands of damage against a cluster of ships. The rest, definitely, particularly the AI. It seems to have taken a powder this beta. Of course, it

It's very, very hard to turn a profit at retail anymore. Even in the short time span since SoaSE first came out, the number of retailers who would even carry a retail copy of Rebellion has plummeted. Walmart is the only business left that I've seen which could even be considered to have a PC games selection; Best Buy, Gamestop, Target, etc have all essentially exited the PC games market. The economy of scale is a nonexistent problem for digital releases, but it's a very punishing

@Stant123 32-bit applications are limited to 2 GB of memory on a 32-bit operating system . On a modern 64-bit OS like Win7 or Vista you can have any application get access to the 4 GB of memory one would expect from an unsigned 32-bit integer by using the LAA flag on the application. There was also a flag you could set on 32-bit Windows as far back as XP to give the application access to 3 GB, but it required both setting a config value on the OS and a launch flag on the application.
