Update: checked to see if "My Games\Ashes of the Singularity\settings.ini" was there and if it was read only. It was there, and is not read only. Benchmarks and saves are there too in their directories.

So when I started up the game all seemed fine. I am running on a laptop with what I would guess is near minimal GPU secs (GTX 765 with 2 GB of GDDR 5) so I thought that I would set the graphics options lower than default, also checked not to show the movie. I did, the program said it needed to restart, it did, and first the movie came up. I checked the setting and they were all back to default. I tried a few more times, gave up and played a game. Other than the settings not sticking, it ran f
We are sorry that this has affected some of you... ...That said, thank you for your patronage and patience.
No problem just wanted to make sure that there was not an issue with the purchase on my end, or that it something that actually needed attention. I’m happy to support a new inventive RTS like Ashes. I played my first game of Ashes (vs the AI) and it looks and runs pretty well for pre-beta.

1) What do you like to see in a RTS game to make you buy it? It is hard to say but a large scale or ties to a game that I previously enjoyed help. If it has a theme/setting that is of interest to me that helps to. Also some games have new/unique/revolutionary mechanics (layers and battle bots in Metal Fatigue; multi-planet combat in Planetary Annihilation). I have bought a lot of RTS games over the years so I guess it does not always take much. 2) What is your style?

Hi I put in an email to tech support (NHT-922-60434) but it seems that it may take a while for them to get to this (ticket volumes have been unusually high) so I thought I would post here too. I have no steam key listed for my copy of Ashes (or Sins of a Solar Empire). I tried clicking on hide/show keys and it removes the steam instructions below the game titles but still no keys. I tried different browsers, operating systems, computers, and networks but that didn't help. I do hav

Destroyable parts on super units sounds like a good idea to me. I have seen this done with a number of units in Total Annihilation mods (3rd party units) though not most implementations there could use work (I think there was a battleship that had its main turrets destroyable, but logically that would be the one of the best protected parts of the ship; also a really old unit was a lighting k-bot that had to deploy a gu

I prefer when I get people I know to all play on the same side vs a bunch of AIs. I'm not a huge fan of competive multiplayer with people I don't know but I if I know someone that is about equal to me, it could be fun, or maybe there should be a handycap system...

Would you prefer randomly generated maps or a handful of well known maps? Human designed maps would likely be better, but randomly generated maps do offer a lot. Would you prefer the default to be unexplored maps or pre-explored? I think that pre-explored is the way to go.How would one justify that the maps are not pre-explored? How would you feel about an opti

I'm Benjamin. I'm a student of history, formerly studied computer science and worked in IT/tech support. I don't remember what my first RTS was but Total Annihilation was the most influential, and is a longtime favorite (ju
