Yes Thrull and gang, I will post my result here in this thread. I'm just now sitting down to do some modding, so it will be tonight before I post much. Bye the way I see there are three more mods in the library. ~SDC~
RustyBlade
I see you have posted Angelina VER 1 in the library. If after you review the images from both files you think Ver 2 is best then just swap out the VER 2 zip with VER 1. Or post VER 2 as well, but RENAME it Angelina All Business. I'm good either way. Should definitly keep the present JPG, as she looks stunning in that shot. :D LOL :D ~SDC~
After careful consideration I have decided that VER 1 of "Angelina For Governor" could be seen as sexest. So I would appreciate your concideration of this second version in its place. I uploaded VER 2 at 2:30 PM Sunday 4/13/03. The JPG image is of the error message, and the Governor image is the same facial close up. This will most likely be the last of this kind of MOD that i will be submitting. P.S. Again let me mention that I am very much enjoying my purchase of WindowBlinds
Yes that did the trick! I was making a more family friendly version of the Angelina MOD. Working with the image as TGA resizing, that is, then converting it to PCX. I achieved excellent results. It made a world of differance. I used Photo Shop Pro 8 for the editing and then Power Desk's coversion feature to make the final 8 bit 256 color PCX. It looks great. I will be experimenting more with this as I will be trying to build some frames for my first BIK video sumbission in the next couple
SmartButtons: What are they, and are they supported in any available skins yet? I looked in Help and the readme and via the WB site. Maybe its a secret.
Yes please do finish it and if you have the time I too would love to see this explanded to edit all the DATA files. When you have a release canadate please e-mail me. [email protected] Super cool. I was hoping someone with the skills would be doing something like this. ~SDC~
Thanks Frogboy I will try TGA files. I will be trying in several graphics programs today. ~SDC~
Yes I will post my results on this thread. Patience, and tolorance everyone. These are the truest examples of the mature mind. I love apple pie, yet I still enjoy orange marmolaide. There is room for more than one game. Stardock has learned from SE IV, MOO*, etc. Just as they have learned from Stardock and others. I can see how some would find the data files difficult. But I suspect with a little effort and experimentation most anyone will be able to do it. I imagine there will
Load up the PCX files you find in the GalCiv directories. In you paint program and then check the file properties to see what size and resilutions they are. Then stay in those boundries and you are very free with content. As for the data files they are in the DATA directory, and as far as I can tell they all can be MOD'ed via the simple Notebook program that comes with windows. XP = Start Menu -> Programs -> Accessories. As for how to do it. Look to BoogiBac's tutorials. Also it would
Thrull, your welcome. Yes many games are moddable. I prefer the non-twitch games myself. Too old and slow for halflife. And my attention span usually requires more of a challenge. Still I welcome any and all modders to get into this game. It is really easy to mod. And hasn't been out but 18 days so far. Hardly enough time for hundreds of mods. I've completed two myself. The Angelina Mod is still being ok'ed. I do hope the fan sites and this one as well will impliment a voting system as
Thrull and gang I will be experimenting with the stills and the movie files, (new BIKs) and be documenting any successful paths tonight. Should post some results tomorrow. ~SDC~
I tried to e-mail him some cheer, but the Contact link was dead and the e-mail came back undeliverable. Atrocities posted on the forums some time last week. I would love to drop him/her a line if anybody knows how. ~SDC~
Here, Here! Hallaluya brother. The games MODability secures my interest in it for a very, very, long time. BTW, Thrull, here are some fan sites where some bits and pieces of mods, manuals, etc, are or will be popping up. http://webpages.charter.net/trevorpowdrell/ http://www.brimd.com/azakain/index.php?showpage=downloads http://www.jonaswills.com/ This is DarkHelmets site, he is muilding a MOD installer. ~SDC~
Staff please review the "Angelina For Governor" MOD, and if not approvable, e-mail me with the particular reason. So that I could make appropriate changes. I submitted it yesterday afternoon. About 30 hours ago. I know you guys are busy with WindowBlinds 4. I am just eager to add this bit of color to some peoples games. Even if it went up for just a couple of weeks a few people might get a kick out of it. [email protected] P.S. If it gives me any browny points, I wi
WytRaven, Thank you for the input. After reviewing it and some head scratching I did go ahead and purchace WindowBlinds 4. And I like it very much it is faster than 3.* indeed. Along with Object Dock its a whole new PC. Again thank you.
Here is a small sample of the multi-media MODS that could extend the fun of this game for a long time. There are THREE seperate BIK videos and triggered MP3 files for all FIVE races. Happy, neutral, and angered. You can get the free video converter, analyzer, player at: http://www.radgametools.com/ It is a piece of cake to use. Resize, trim, slice, dice, change format, & back to BIK by simply pressing "Bink It!" The Videos can also be swapped out with PCX still images
Ceyan, I feel senerios could be done with GalCiv with maybe a little code changing or maybe no code change. And I plan to look into it at a later date. By then someone will probably have a senerio builer done. I am not a programer. So I am a novice at this. I would suspect something along these lines would need to be done. You download, and load a MOD & MATCHING SAVEGAME. This has the set up of AI already populated a curtain amount and the MORALITY INTELLEGENCE is told to the
Watch for threads by Governor BoogieBac. He is a member of the Sardock staff and is writing up some tutorials. Two of which are online now in this forum. If you want to MOD the music look for Veteran RustyBlade threads, I have posted a couple. I hope this helps. ;) ~SDC~
Scott perhaps you could plop in a complete example of the above senerio? Thanks. ~SDC~
Three Questions: I tried WB 3.* and liked it but it was just a little too slow. I am on the fence about WB4. From your expieriences is WB4 mcuh faster, or to put it another way wouldn't slow the UI noticably? 1.2 Gig Hz - 512 mem - G4 ti 4600. Am I correct that with almost all skins made with WB4 functions I will be able to change the over all color of the skin to my own choice of color and saturation? Prime II for instance impressed me. Certain colors life my mood. <br
Drop down list of sellectable colors for the races. The ship series could then be auto changed to exicute for the race with the matching color. Probably GalCiv 1.8 or something. But many FEEL differantly toward red vs green, etc. How do you feel about yellow? Some think of cowardess and would never choose yellow for themselves. For me a bright yellow immediatly raises my mood. ~SDC~
Good golly miss Molley! You should rename them the Rabbits. ~SDC~
Easy Las... easy. Just try a couple hours later. They get bogged down sometimes. It happened to me earlier today. Then when I was able to log on I saw that Stardock was updating it's self. So there was all that extra traffic as it was updating everyone already logging in. Just try a little later on, I will bet you a dollar to a hole in a dounut it'll work soon. ~SDC~
That was my best laugh of the day! Thank you. Please post simular threads in the future. :D ~SDC~
Angelina For Governor, obviously was very difficult to do in 256 colors. Ha ha. My God it took me forever. Luckily I had some of the best material in the world to work with. I had to use three differant image software programs on each image. And that was after finding a method that would suffice. I also kind of doubt everyone has my three specific graphics programs. 24 bit would help all the others that will be uploading race images for Star Trek, Babylon 5, etc. I suspect this is why w
