The hype machine seems not to be working for me. The more I see about SC2, the less excited I get.
The third research tab allows you to 'research' more cap ship crews and logistics for a greater number of total units.
You have a point, but so does the OP. The lack of a campaign was something many of the reviews pointed out - not necessarily as a flaw, but as something lacking. So, if the objective was to move from 4.5 to 5 stars, then a campaign would have been a good thing. That's all in the past though. I expect reviewers will be looking for more than just a new race and campaigns in an expansion, so that alone is unlikely to garner 5 stars.
Thanks, Brad. Looks like a great update.
-Sins handles no soundcard now.
Your English teacher probably wouldn't like that one though ;)
I disagree. Designing a product with traps in it to thwart would be pirates without considering the impact it would have on legitimate users in the market was what ruined it for the game. It was simply a bad project management decision.
This is so wrong it beggars belief. The traps had no impact on legitimate users, only on pirates.
Considering how often my planets get bombed, yes, I'd prefer my vital installations to be in space.
Probably just sit down and weep. Then go out for a pint :)
Just as long as it finds updates properly on start. It drives me batty that 9 times out of 10 I have to hit the "Refresh XML Data" button in SDC for it to realize there are updates to my games!-HM
Hmm, that's odd - I've never had to do that (manually refresh XML data).
You need the registration code from inside the box to download.
i cant help but laugh when i read such idiotic rants, 90% piracy rates? there pulling this from there behinds , off the charts in asia? what does this mean over 100% piracy rates meaning people who dont even have computers are pirating pc games in asia so they can use the cds as coasters for there drinks?
And we should believe you instead of someone who works in the industry... why?
Iron Lore, makers of the excellent Titan Quest game, just closed it's doors this month. Here's what one of the producers of Titan Quest had to say:
Titan Quest - Frustrations of a PC Developer by Dhruin, 22:22 Michael Fitch - one of THQ's producers on Titan Quest - has let rip with frustrations on PC game development in a post at QT3. Clearly, the closure of Iron Lore is driving the anger but it's still an interesting read: Greetings: So, I
February has 29 days. :)
Space is 3D? Whatever happened to String-theory and M-theory and Time for that matter?
I already hold the patent on 10, 11 and 12 dimensional UI's, so Ironclad couldn't use them.
There's also no sound in space, so there should be no sound effects. There's no air in space, so there should be no fireball explosions. It's also impossible to travel faster than the speed of light, so there should be no jumping from planet to planet. You couldn't build a spaceship or colonize a planet in a matter of seconds, either, so the game should take years to play. See where I'm going with this?
There's air inside the ships though, so fireball explosions are okay.
I'm replenshing my fleet while it is fighting always keeping my available crew at zero.
You are losing a hell of a lot more resources/time by not retreating ships before they get destroyed than you could possibly gain by not building a scout or two.
You can fish the z-axis control out of keybindings if you want. Generally speaking, though, trying to give three dimensional control in a two dimensional interface is a headache and a half and not worth the bother. Any combat in space between two or three units (or groups of units) really takes place in two dimensions anyway.
Mrph. Plenty of time for them to slip yet... I think I'm going to hold off on this one, just because the hype machine has been on ludicrous speed on this game for quite some time. We'll see what the reviewers say after it's out.
At a guess, it's because you're swapping a bunch of stuff out of RAM when you do that. If you've any comfort level with it at all, I highly suggest you upgrade to at least 1 GB of RAM.
Why are you all trying so hard to convince him? The only thing more valuable than intelligence is an opponent who disdains it :)
Sorry? for the length of the game, the technology tree is tiny. Have you every looked at the default Civ IV tech tree? It's not substantially larger.
Not sure that's a fair comparison. The Civ IV techs tend to be relatively unique, whereas here we have Improved Laser I (2 levels), Improved Laser II (2 levels), Improved Hit Points I (2 levels), Improved Hit Points II (2 levels), etc... Now I'm not saying that's bad, per se... but regar
Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think if you have the reg code that came with the DVD, you can just download the game.
Of course, we're probably talking about nine months or so in the future. Methinks the OP will have expired by then.
if you want more of a challenge, go against multiple hard AIs in locked teams. You mean unlocked teams, right? A FFA against unlocked teams will allow the enemy AI to team up against you (and this is pretty much guaranteed to happen). Locked teams will remain individual, and so fight amongst each other at least somewhat....Unless you mean a 2 v 1 type game, with 2 locked AI? I imagine that would be quite tough, particularly mid-game.
That's exactly what I mean - set yourse
