I think online play is highly overated and a great deal of the dev time is wasted dealing with online stuff(which is numerous). To the detrament of what is obviously a preferred single player experience. The game sold half a million copies, but yet online players say they have no opponents. That means most time (dev) should be use to flesh out the single player game.
Absolutely right. Multiplayer folks are vocal and pr

I always thought it ran too blasted fast before. There needs to be a "slower" speed option below what is available now.

Most, not all, girls like different stuff from guys. So, RTS or strategy games will never match the grocery store as a place for meeting girls, and that is probably a good thing. From the tone of the comments above, I just have to add (quoting Mr. Zappa): "You will find/As you impress her with your mind/that you will just be left behind/for a wiser fool"

I've not used mods before and when I tried to install one I had no luck. I created the folder in XP: C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Mods (I log on as Adminstrator) I then duplicated the folder in the All Users and Default folders. The game setup mods option says it is looking in the Adminstror folde

I have Pax Imperia "Eminent Domain". I still play it. Frankly, I don't see a whole lot of similarity between it and SoaSE at all, other than those similarities commonly shared by many games of the space 4x genre. I'm not sure what the point of all this is. I do like the PI tech chart. And I had forgotten that it came with a separate strategy primer...pretty basic though it is. The tactical battles battles get pretty rote and boring.

Bump. Have the devs noticed this problem? It was not on the 1.04 patch list, incomplete though it is. I will add that the problem occurs whether zoomed all the way in or out.
I would like to ask the devs, when can we expect that an announcement for an upcoming Sins expansion, i.e. when can we expect announcement than beginning of beta testing phase. Thanks
Expansion?!? You must be joking. How about we let them get this game debugged, polished and a few additional features added in before any talk of an expansion. And yes, of COURSE there will be an expansion. No one with any economic self-interest makes a game like Sins and then foregoes the

I have more to to report. The strafing problem I originally reported occures on a 2.8 Ghz Pentium D machine with a 256 meg Nvidia 7800 GTX running under WinXP. I tried the game on my laptop and do NOT have the problem. That machine is a 2.2 Ghz core-duo with a 256 meg Nvidia 8600 GT running under Win Vista. Both machines have 3 GB RAM. I hope this helps Frog People everywhere in their search for a fix.

Before the 1.03 patch I could strafe with my mouse fine - up, down, left, right. After installing the patch I can only strafe in two directions. Sometimes I can strafe up sn right but not down and left. Other times, the reverse is true. What's up with this?
okay as I prefer Strategy games more than, who klicks faster and would like to play it with friends MP without MOD PLEASE PLEASE PLEAS make at the settings an option with VERY SLOW, VERY FEW and so on ... at least everything 5 times slower, fewer and rarer ...At the moment I couldn't enjoy the game, development is too fast (special now with 3 fields developed at the same time) , movment and production also. Couldn't kill the ships faster than they are produced ... I am playing everything

Thank you, devs, 1.03 is a fun! I really, really like the new set-up options. After playing for 15 hours I am enjoying this game even more. My only problems have been self-inflicted (like making cash "cheap" and minerals "slow" in the same game!). Thanks again.

The game set-up provides a way to balance the cash-black market resource issue a bit. In the setup process, make cash generation slow and mineral mining normal or fast. That helps.

I would very much like to see R&D costs become "unfixed". Having the cost POSSIBLY (not for sure) vary by a small but unknown amount (in a range of +/- 3% to 8%) would add a pleasant degree of uncertainty to the game without causing any horrendous displacements. I do not play multiplayer, but it might benefit that kind of game. And this would certainly reflect the uncertainty one would expect in any actual R&D program. I'd also suggest considering an option in the game set-up phase to

Get rid of the orqange space background and make it black all of the time. The orange makes it difficult to read the screen and to see red icons...plus it is visually unappealing.

1,040 Replies 556,137 Views

OK, I cannot STAND this re-orange background space any more. Space should be empty and BLACK. Will someone please tell me how I can get the screen to look normal, with a black space background like the game starts with?

Micromanagement...Wow. I have not seen any. I think the game is oversimplified and would benefit from more variables to manage. Sadly, this would be to the detriment of the AI...and I'll have to admit that a good AI is more important than a more satisfying building and conquest experience (up to a point). Weeks of building an empire against hostile pressure before the final war is what I enjoy. I'm working on modding the game to slow it down now. Adding new variables to control is beyond anyone
gameplay.constants file from gameinfo directory, you can use a text editor to read it if you have the files in text format (sticky in modding forum lets you download the modding package which has the files in text format).
OUTSTANDING! Now I can slow this sucker down...if I can find and figure out the modding package.
