If you were playing a game without Quickstart and Faster Resources, it might give you an edge to get a couple extra frigates out or an extra lab up. Part of the advantage is you free up a slot on the HW so you can do something like jump straight to 3 weapon labs and Illuminators as Advent, or maybe 2 Civic labs, 1 Weapon labs for Corvettes + colonization techs, etc. -- you get the idea. And this is assuming you don't plan on building more capships anytime soon. It

Sigh....they lowered Torchlight 2 to 9.99. It wasn't my fault.

There are no invulnerable defenses in Sins...if there were, stalemates would be common. Starbases need to be supported by fleets. Besides, the Loyalist ability to have 2 starbases is pretty huge in other ways than just defense. It allows you to have additional capabilities off of the planet like manufacturing and trade as well as the defensive capabilities of a frontline starbase. Novaliths are also very powerful. Even when a planet is protected by a starbase fro

Yeah, some crazy sales today. Skyrim is 50% off, so if you had been tempted to get it but were holding off because it is so expensive, today is the day.

The original Sins ICO server is probably pretty dead. You can find folks in Rebellion still, mostly in the evenings and on weekends.
Well, that's how wail works now, the only thing that happens at the planet where wail was used is the planet is destroyed. All players are safe if they are at this planet in the current implementation. I interpreted that change as meaning that when wail damages ships at all adjacent gravity wells, it will damage all players ships. As it is currently, only enemy ships are damaged by wail.
Ok, thanks for the clarification.

Not quite sure I agree with the change, and I'm a Vasari player that has been on the wrong end of Wail multiple times. I'm mainly an Advent Rebel player, and I think that's going to be an exaggeration. As long as your fleet is at the planet you trigger wail at it is still perfectly safe to use. Maybe a fully upgraded terran

They just launched an indie venture, The Pit. You must know secrets? Yeah, SOTS2 release was a mess. What is worse, even though the game is fixed finally, I just don't like where they took it. It felt like they unnecessarily added complexity to the UI and the interface. Maybe I'm just not as patient anymore. Too bad, because I'm sure there is a good game in there somewhere.

It is disconnects, though one game did have a minidump last week. I'm not even playing much, it just seems like I can't get through a game without everyone lagging and then half the players getting disconnected. I was just playing a 2v2 that was playing fine for 20 minutes or so, then all of the sudden the lag storm started resulting in 2 players disconnecting. The remaining 2 of us had to deal with terrible lag spikes while we tried to finish and hope it cleared up.

There have been many fabulous games over the years. I could have a much larger list with many other great games, but if I had to boil it down to the games that held my attention for the largest amount of time: DOS Age Vintage: ------------------------- Ultima IV & V Starflight Pirates Civilization Master of Orion Master of Magic Windows Age: ------------------------- Master of Orion 2 Everqu

Rebellion is the newest, it has all of the Trinity content plus Titans & Corvettes and factions, so get Rebellion.
Quoting HouseRalan, reply 5What is wrong with Rebellion... everything that was added to Rebellion. Titans, Titan abilities, upgrades, jumping starbases, cannon spam, Titan as homeworld, corvettes, triggers (which don't even work), and the diplomacy (entrenchment imho is best). This is pretty much how I see it. Rebellion is a failure from my perspective. The game was in good shape as of the last Dip

Probably the best way to make MP balanced is to ban every faction except TEC Loyalist. It could be known as the TEC Turtle Slapfight mod.

Anyone who still plays does so because they have figured that out and plays in spite of it. To get new players involved is going to require something we haven't had as yet: a general code of sorts. That's it in a nutshell. But, part of that is

I'd say the biggest thing that hurt the Sins online MP community is how unfriendly it is towards setting up a game. Just having a simple option to auto-assign player teams based on their win to loss ratio would have done a lot. You can easily spend 20-30 minutes messing around picking teams or waiting for people, just to have someone ditch and force you to start the whole process over again, or have veterans kick the noobs who have been waiting patiently because someone's
