One of my earliest games was StarCraft Broodwar. It had good cheats built in that helped players new to RTS. And Age of Mythology had some very amusing cheats too.

A brief tutorial campaign would have been a good idea and I think it would have increased the popularity of the game. The tutorials provided give little indication of gameplay strategy per se. I think of StarCraft single player where the dumb AI was made a bit interesting because it would rush you. This made it necessary to fine tune your buildout. In Sins, the AI is not going to rush you the way it is set up. So, the pirates were put in to make single players pay attention to their buildout.
