All I ask for is something that is visually appealing. I don't have to be in control of my forces, but please don't make ground combat that stupid spacebar randomization thing where troops would just disappear. Let me see some shooting, some explosions, something that makes me want to watch and see what happens.

Ah, custom race. Heres hoping that I can construct my dream race. A mass produced robot race that consumes all in its path. Think "The Matrix". It will essentially be a continually spreading plague upon the universe.
I agree, we shouldnt have to make any building placement. All im saying is that I want some 3d view of the planet, and a 3d view of the battle.
I really didnt like GalCivs way of funding money to different areas. In the end your just pumping 100% into one area to get something fast, then switching and putting 100% into another area. It was absolutely unrealistic. Could a more natural budget allocation system be created?
letop game on my computer.
Im going to jump on the improved land battles bandwagon. Honestly I want a better graphical representation of whats happening on the planets surface. If we could get a zoom down view and see the planet in 3d with buildings and everything, that would be amazing. I really, really want to see 3d ground combat though. You dont have to let us control each unit or anything, but let us choose some sort of strategy, and then see that strategy carried out by a 3d invasion force fighting against a 3d defe
Ive read the replies, thanks a lot everyone. I completly understand the balance of gameplay and graphics that comes with these types of games. I still think though, that if they could just do a 3d interactive colony view, that it would make the game 10x more immersive and enjoyable. I can honestly say that I would want to play more, if I could see a direct effect of my actions upon a colony. We could get a 3d view of a colony, with flying cars and tall buildings and whatever sci-fi things youd e
Would be updated GRAPHICS. Now dont get me wrong, this is defenitely a great game. Strategy, technologies, etc, its fun to play. The graphics however, really make it ahrd for me to really be immersed within the game. Id love to see the ground battles in more detail, or maybe see my colonies in 3d, or just something. Would any of this at all be possible?
I liked how in Civ 3, you could have a city view thing where you saw all the improvements you had built and stuff. I was wondering if we could have something like this for our planets, so we could visually see our improvements. Also, is there anyway for us to see an invasion happening on the planet, from an above city view? I would love to see tanks and soldiers roll in and blast everything.
This could be an attack that totally destroyes all life/improvements/planet quality goes to hell. It could be used as a last ditch effort to destroy a planet. Basically you nuke a planet to hell and back.
Is the purple atmosphere a real scientific thing, or is it just a distinguishing figure to tell those planets apart from regular earth like planets?
The devs should just watch star trek and copy all of the spacial anomalie barriers from there. Gas that makes you invisible, sensors go offline, weapons at reduced power, etc.
The maps in galciv are prettymuch empty. Its basically a bunch of suns and random bonus anomalies randomly thrown onto a stary background. Could we have defining features of maps, like large expanses of weird gases that cause changes in speed or whatever, or big spacial barriers that you cant pass, or something? It would be good because then we could set up defenses based on these spacial terrain features. It could add more strategy to the game.
I keep a few ships along the trade routes to try and slow down invaders. I also try and have a few ships nearby to protect them in an emergency.
I have to somewhat agree. I am not dissing GalCiv at all, I love it, and im going to play it in a second, but some things about being on land just makes it alot more fun. We have national boundaries, wide oceans, airforce, I just like it. I wish GalCiv could have us do things on our planets like we can in Civ3, but it would probably take a LONG time to do anything if it was added.
the planet bomber is in this patch, right?
I was expecting some earth shattering kaboom type explosion, instead it looked like a tiny spark. I mean this is a SUN we are talking about. Could the explosion get remade and look awesome?
I would seriously, be totally fine with the combat as it is, if they added some good effects in Galciv 2. I mean like a 3d layout where you watch your ships go at it. I really dont like how the ships basically repeat their little animation and a ship is destroyed. I wanna see some cool weapons being fired, and hull damage, and explosions, and other cool things.
I think its a range problem maybe? Research some propulsion techs that will increase your range, or build temp outposts on bad planets that will basically serve to extend your range to a planet.
ya, this helped me out tons :) thanks
ya, this game with hegemonias graphics, plus a few additions would simply rock. The only real complaint that I have with the game are the graphics, although the low end graphics are probably the only reason that im able to play it on my crummy 450mhz lol.
I sorta wish more of the technologies we research in Galciv had a true phyiscal effect on the world. Like wormhole gates after we develop controlled wormholes, and warp effects when ships move, and stuff like that. I wish that we could see ships in a 3d arena fight on their own, if not tactical combat. The fighting in the game is just not that interesting. I wish planetary invasions could look better too, id love to see some real 3d view of what the invasion is doing.
I think it would have the AI of GalCiv, the graphics and tactical ship combat of Hegemonia, the cool technologies like actually built and controlable wormholes like in space empires 4, a bunch of stuff from MOO2 (too many to name), and probably more things I cant name :)
thanks guys, ill try it out
I dont mean scrap the tech interface you guys have now, I like it. But could we get like an alternate view of the tech tree, where we can click on a future tech we want, like 4d phasing or whatever, and then the techs would start researching all the techs needed in order to get 4d phasing? It would be alot easier than printing out a tech tree and reading all the descriptions for whats required for what. We would just click what we want and the tech tree would research to it.
