Speaking of repair ships, what are efficient ratios to use them in frigate/cruiser fleets? I'm never sure about how many Hoshikos and the like to put between the "damage makers".
I can only speak as tech, but when you hover the cursor over the credit cell on the screen the trade route is displayed as a white line following the phase lanes. It is supposed to show the longest unbroken trade route. However it just stops. There is in every game I can remember a contiuation of trade ports from the planet or asteroid the illustrated trade route does not pick up.
I noticed this as well. Does the order in which you build the trade ports (or in which
I said this in the other thread as well, but I think changing the AI's just being "defeated" to offering to surrender would solve this. The AI could say, "OK, we give, we surrender" and the player could choose whether or not to accept the surrender. If you refuse, you could still grind them to a pulp.
Sounds like a good idea for singleplayer, but what if there are several human players (or possibly an AI which it wants to surrender to) around?
That is useful information,Jafo. I use one for archiving some things.Would it be better to save these files to a disc instead?
It is worth noting that the "finite life" of a flash drive will usually be pretty long. The flash "cells" can be accessed several thousand times at least (and that's a conservative estimate) - should be more than enough for backup purposes and even many other applications. Personally I keep an encrypted backup of personal files on a usb flash dr
I also have a hard time to imagine how game balance is supposed to work if the expansions aren't cumulative. Not to mention the difficulty for the player to keep in mind which strategy worked under which setup - doesn't sound like fun or something many people will want to do. That said, I vaguely recall that it was said that the expansions were to be independent from each other, but I might be mistaken.
"Vanilla" is a general expression for an unmodded game, be it Sins or whatever. It is said to come from vanilla ice cream which is the most basic flavour.
Entrenchment is well worth it, hands down. [e digicons]B)[/e] /me is a notorious fortifier...
Thanks a lot, that was really needed! /me thinks this thread should get a sticky
From my observation the AI tends to surrender rather quickly once you have beaten their main fleet. I think this is premature and I hope that they will include a "no AI surrenders" option like the one present in GalCiv 2.
On the topic of AI surrenders: I really liked the system in Galactic Civilizations. For those who haven't played it: when the AI decided to give up, it would send you a message saying, basically, "you have defeated us, but we refuse to submit to your authority. We have decided to surrender to (your biggest enemy) instead!" The empire they surrendered to would immediately take control of all their ships and planets. Could be quite a nasty surprise, depending on the situation.[/quote
Devs, if you get a chance there are some great ideas and thoughts going on in this thread about a possible fix to the AI surrendering. As it is right now, the AI are surrendering way too early in the game and it is ruining some of the game play...just some thoughts. https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/341350/#2078650
(my emphasis) How about adding a game option that the AI doesn't
Just to keep you informed, I bought the game in the meantime. ;)
DirectX 10 - what for? And no, it's not better just because it has a higher version count.
The empire tree has several settings that you can configure in the interface options. What I do is disable auto-pinning of everything except capitals. Then, when you have important planets (shipyards, superweapons, etc), you can manually pin them to the tree by using '~'. I keep all of these condensed, since I don't need to see everything in their grav well. Then, if I need ships I just click on the planet in the tree and build ships from the planet menu, since you never have to select th
Thank you all for your responses! I played some more of the demo version over the weekend, less than I thought I would, but still. Although I am less fond of it than I thought and hoped I would be, I'll probably buy it. I guess that things will be better with more variety in races and more maps to choose from. I wondered about one thing though: I'm a little afraid of ending up in clickfests and moving the game screen around constantly. Do you micromanage your battles - or is there enoug
Being a long time player of Galactic Civilizations 1 and 2, I finally tried the demo of Sins yesterday and intend to continue over the weekend. While I'm at it, I'd like to know - how people think about the long term motivation regarding Sins? How long do you play it already, and is it still worth it? - how you rate the AI? It is good? Is it really good, or does is just cheat like hell?
Mistakes are human, not having English as my mother tongue I make my share of them as well. But what I can't stand at all is when someone obviously never reads his own postings before posting them. Lack of knowledge is forgivable, repeated lack of effort isn't.
