I'm new to LH beta. Is there a link anywhere that shows the fixes applied to .75 beta?

Is it me, or have I missed a shortcut key, but all my city names and Icons have disappeared. When I zoom all the way out, the city names appear on the map, but otherwise - nothing.
Works fine for me @ 1920x1200 using a Dell 24" widescreen.
Is 1024 x 600 the native resolution of your laptop screen? If not, you might try setting it to that. Also, widescreens sometimes need to have the ratio adjusted. I have a 24" widescreen and had to set mine to something like 3 to 1. This tells the graphice drivers it is using a widescreen and needs to adjust the width and hight ratio to fit everything on the screen.
I got the error as well. I've also posted into the release notes thread.
Big list, but is it available now? I just tried to download the update through Impulse and got an error, even though its showing an update avaialble - it didn't even get started before it threw the error.
Also using Vista 64 bit; 6 Gigs RAM; Dual Core 3Mghz; GT9600 (512Mb). I have also heard that Vista 64 bit seems to have less issues with games and stuff that the 32 bit version. Don't know why that would be but!!! If you search around various forums you will see people complain about issues with 32 bit, but 64 bit users say they are good.
If you have a PCI slot as it appears you have, you have a better option than an NVIDIA Fx5500. I upgraded from the NVIDIA Fx5500 to an Fx6200 OC from BFG. It uses a 250watt minimum power supply and I have not had any problems with it. It is DirectX 9.0c compliant. It cost me about $75 US including shipping within the US. You will get a very noticable improvement even over the Fx5500 - I sure did. I have an HP desktop that is at least 2 years old, and this was the best upg
Phaselane minelayer - Minelayer phases through a lane , and drops off mines along the lane. Once mined , the enemy units using that lane can be damaged. - Phaselane restrictor - Temporarily disables all phaselanes leading to that system. Logistic building 2slot. Uses antimatter. 1 minute usage. 10 minute cool-off. I like these two ideas. I agree with Schem the second would need heavy restictions or players cou
Great ideas - count me in as in agreement - they would certainly add a lot to the game. I know the devs have declared some ideas non actionable, but it would be nice if they would reconsider, or provide a reasonable explanation of why they won't/can't. I realize that in Beta 2, the code is less likely to undergo major rewrites, and this will be even more the case for Beta 3. However, if the rewritten portion of code provides a major improvement in game play, then it should be seriously c
I wholeheartedly agree with Nick that formations would add another level to the game. Being able to design your own formations through templates is also a great idea. Allowing formations would not stop you from micro managing if you wanted to. A very good example of a game using formations for fleets is Space Empires V. This game also allows you to micro manage a fleet even if it has formation orders.
The original realease date was August 2007. However, it has been revised to February 2008.
I agree - @ the moment, the tech tree is rather sparse and is useless by end game. However, we do not know what the Beta 2 content is - only that it is supposed to be significant. I like the large tech tree of the Gal civ games. Also, Space Empires V has a huge tech tree, where weapons & ships are researched in increments so that you get gradual improvements. However, to do something like that would probably require an overhaul of the current tech tree and the way it is displayed
I'm 52 and play at least an hour most every day. The significant other (girlfriend) doesn't mind - she likes to play boardgames. I play all types of games - PC (TBS & RTS), boargames & miniatures. I'm also beta testing the new SoaSE from Ironclad/Stardock (RTS). Currently playing GCII DA; Combat Mission by email; Civ IV be email.
I like those ideas, it would add a lot of possibilities/variations to the game. Especially being able to assign leaders to fleets, or governors to planets.
I completely agree. I hope that this is something the devs plan on expanding.
@Yarlen - A screen print of what I'm trying to explain has shown up in the "Thoughts So Far" thread. Put there by Legerdemain. The same thing happened with the latest release .010 when I started the game. This also happens on the game load screen.
My machine has the following specs :- Athlon XP 2800+ Windows XP Pro SP2 1GB RAM 250GB Hard drive GeForce FX5500 with 256MB Playing the game in 1280 * 768 res I have noticed that on the Saved Game Load screen and on the Video Options screen, the scrollbars go upwards off the top of my screen. They are not contained in the panels at all. In fact, on the Video Options screen, of the 3 selection panels displayed, only the resolution panel has the scrollbar in t
Actually Space Empires V has PDS systems. They are components that you can choose to add to ships. Also Gal Civ 2 has limited PDS built into the game as an inherent feature after researching it.
@Yarlen & Kryo I appreciate you guys pushing the release date back so that you can produce a better product. However, I do feel that you are wasting the beta testers if you do not keep giving them something to test in the meantime. If you plan on adding more testers with beta 2 as well as a general beta 2 software release you might get overwhelmed with bug reports. Remember, the more you add, the harder and longer it is to test. This is where we, the beta testers, come in. If you were to rel
The new race kinda looks like the Shadows from Babylon 5!!!!
@Shadowhal Basically, yes - Space Empires gives that flexibility. You can then pause the battle and micro manage if you wish, or just let it play out - your choice. Like SOASE, the combat is realtime, with the option to pause anytime. Also, to those following the thread, in my hurry to complete my original note, I said SEIV - it should have been SEV (the latest iteration of the game). The ships in the SE series also have components that can be damaged in a battle and must th
Remember that the purpose of this beta was to test the game on various types of machines for compatibility. So far, the game appears to work reasonably well on most everyones rig. Late game issues are something that I'm sure they are working on. However, such things can take time to resolve. I do agree that when you consider the current state of the game, the devs should consider increasing the content of the game for further testing. As long as the platform testing appears to be stable, it
I like the idea of separating the Black Market into it's own entity within the game. It can definitely do with improvement. However, this is still a beta so let's hope it will improve over time. Sliders for volume conversion are absolutely necessary in a game like this, if only to reduce the time it takes to make a transaction. Linking the pirates to the Black Market is a very intriguing idea!!!! I also like the idea of enhanced diplomacy and spying. Count me in as an advocate.
Those are some good ideas - let's see what the dev's think. Not sure I'd combine the fighter/bomber types though - that would add to the micro-management of a battle.
