The Kwilasians routinely morph to the I-League but I can't see that it changes much. They tend to have strong influence (orange color), variable military (sometimes tough), don't particularly like demonic players, and they get to vulture all the discontented planets that become independent, which can make them quite spread out. If one couldn't go into debt to buy terror stars, that would be a big nerf. But, one can get the bc to avoid debt if trade is active and tech-purchasing Alexians
Maxti: "I think we're all bozos on this bus!" (7 points to the first to identify that ancient quote.)
Firesign Theater from the album, "we're all bozos on this bus". They put out some funny stuff.
Speaking of the treasury, that's the biggest problem I'm having on small maso maps in this strategy. I end up stuck down around -500bc with spending well below 100%. If I survive long enough, trade revenue will gradually bring me out of the toilet, but meanwhile

Congratulations Ray. It was good to see your post. Same for FotR members Theoden, vincible, Matthew, & Greldon. There are still some of us who are playing regularly but if the current pattern prevails, SF will outrun FotR soon. Congrats to SF. You certainly have many excellent players who play frequently. FotR was the first to 2 million, 3 million, 4 million and the top empire of 2003. We play to have fun. Players can play militaristic or diplomatically, good or evil, and players can co

As per the above plus . . . Colonize planets PQ 14 and above. This will not cost you maintenance. The AI rarely colonizes PQ 14 so save the 14's for last. Initially, do not load up the population of the lower PQ planets because you do not want them to "drag" the economy of Earth or your big production planet. I colonize 14 to 16 PQ planets with 1 colonist per colony ship to avoid overpopulation too soon. Planet PQ 13 can sometimes be useful as a source of constructors and the o

just reporting in . . . got a 60k game in 5 hours of computer time but I take breaks every 1 or 2 hours so this was cumulative time over 2 days. It took about 1 hour to complete coloniziation (game year 2181). After 3 and a half hours, I completed social and tech and shifted to constructors (about 2193 game year). Around 5 hours we have the big boom and a military victory (2201 game year). I have had 4 planets, 5 planets, & 6 planets over 3 games and they all work fine. All the

Ok. Enough of SPAM and vomit. Has everyone tried the Maxtipherous 60k game cranking method discussed in the strategy forum? It provides an interesting new perspective, at least for the moment. I just finished a 60k mpts game in 5 hours of actual computer time but I take breaks every hour or two so this was over 2 days. It has taken me 20 or 30 hours to play a gigantic maso in the past. So if you have played most every strategy you can think of, it is fun to play a spe

Jeffrey. I am not sure. I would probably get my operating system stable on my hard drive, then add my telecommunications software (Internet, browser, email, etc.), then my applications software including games and lastly my antivirus software last. Turning off the antivirus software when loading other applications is safest. If everything seems stable, I would load Gal Civ from CD, then visit Stardock via the Internet to update it. There may be better ways but this is how I would do it.

SPAM is a great reason to be vegetarian. Theoden, if that can is glowing, it is probably radioactive microbes from a distant nebula. Be careful. ;) You light seekers need to ummm . . . "lighten up". It really is fun to play evil now & then. I can't imagine being in an empire where I can't play good one game and evil the next. Takes some of the spice out of the contest IMO. :D I just watched Starship Troopers again yesterday. The bug scenes are GREAT!!! See that movie if you wan

Matthew, you asked how long it took me but I don't play straight through. Usually I play an hour or two and do something else. In my one effort to use the Maxti strategy, it took 3 days of 1 or 2 hours each day. I have another game on my hard drive but haven't played since last week but maybe can play tomorrow or Wednesday. Sorry I don't keep track but when my wrists hurt (from too much keyboard time) I go read or watch some recorded TV or a movie. On the other hand, this is a heck of a lot fast

Congratulations to FotR for 4 million. Welcome to new members. Kudos to our talented fiction writers. Man, I just can't believe American college football is over for another season. Ah, the wonders of satiety (or is it gluttony?). I can't believe I watched the whole thing. LOL. With football season winding down, might that mean more time for Gal Civ? Hmmmm . . . :)

If the minors get very powerful, then treat them like majors who can't win and try to make them your pal. Bribe, gift, trade, bow, kneel, grovel, etc. LOL. If you do this until you become the big enchilada, then you can dominate them. Good luck. :)

Nice job Maxtipherous. I said good-bye to the remaining majors with a 43 terror star salute to get my most recent 60k. It is hard to break some of my earlier habits so I researched extra trade routes for extra bc and the "be my pal" factor. :D On the other hand, if one can wait until the end to unleash terror stars, there is no penalty having a bank account in the red. I think this "works" because of the 60k cap, right? When I was playing maso huge, I played around with things

blitzliar The trade bonus modules added to starbases only increase trade bc while the mini-freighter is in the same sector as the trade-boosted starbase. When the mini-freighter leaves the sector the starbase no longer influences the trade generated by the mini-freighter. That is how I understand it. Hope this helps. :)

I have been playing since June. Freezes are rare compared to Crash to Desktop (CTD). Sometime after hitting enter, the machines does its calculations but sometimes I space out (or get impatient) and hit enter again and have frozen a game this way. Doh!!! :D The only way out was to reset and go through the ScanDisk. One thing that really slows the game down but I find necessary is the autosave. I autosave every 2 turns or so (because of CTD) and on gigantic it seems to take forever to sa

Maxtipherous Since we don't care about resources and know where the majors are, is the sensor drone scouting done to find the minors? The mini-map pop button helps track the AI after contact because the systems become big colored circles instead of tiny dots. Using this is a visual aid and makes the mini-map more useful playing gigantic. Minors and all AI systems "light up" after contact - even the ones in unexplored areas. It helps send freighters . . . and other thi

Up above I said "auto-search". I finally looked it up and the correct term is "auto-survey". Hmmm . . . funny thing for a survey ship to do. LOL. Beware the auto-survey and the green or pointy asteroids. You might get your survey ship gobbled up. :)

Agree with Maxtipherous. Robert, if I understand the question correctly, you are asking why building a starbase on resource in a sector where you have no systems will help. You can mine the resource and get up to a 68% bonus in that resource depending on how many mining modules you add. For example, an influence resource will increase influence 68% if you add the minining modules. You need about 8 more constructors to add modules to max out the resource mining. The same applies
