Yes, you need to micro against subverters. Oh noes. You've obviously never played starcraft if you think this level of micro is a problem =p. And yes, it does cause losses even when you adopt countermeasures...Thats why subverters are a great unit...But then again, Vasari receive the short end of the stick in so many ways, they deserve a great support cruiser IMO... I do agree they needed a nerf, and they have received one in the beta (although its too big a nerf, IMO)... As people abov

Beta generally involves feedback getting back to the developers...How do we give back this feedback? Do you guys want us to use the regular forums? Emails? IRC? -Drexion

Wow your still around huh, HuntingX? I've been waiting for 1.1 to make a comeback, maybe i'll see you and Jinx then :). -Drexion

Where do ya'll hang out these days? The IRC seems pretty empty when I come say hi... I'm actually hopeful with this news that european players are playing on ICO...I don't know why but from past experience in other games, they tend to play better. I also expect to see a few old souls come out of the wood-works with 1.1, we'll see :). I was a bit sad to see nothing in the patch notes about being able to "set" starting positions (on random games and multi-star games especially). Ah w

Its sad how almost all the old clan X players have moved on...Can't blame them though :)...On the bright side, Clan X went its entire history undefeated in all clan matches :D. I believe DT is doing the right thing in keeping their roster small and selective. If nothing else, the Sins MP community is so small that if they were any bigger, they would have nobody decent to fight ;). -Drexion

Just goes to show how long i've been gone, I only recognized half the names...lol.

Nah PaulTa... I just got so sick of correcting misinformation when I was playing actively... A number of us were trying to improve the quality of the average ICO player by posting guides/etc on the forums (Sadly it is still abysmal, if the game I had last night (after like 8 weeks of not playing) was any indication). Then when we posted strategies that worked (and what did not) we had to answer pages of replies from people arguing that fighters/bombers are both good and useful...sigh. I

Doh, if only I could find HuntingX, Jinx or Astax =D...Maybe if I see them on MSN we can get a match going. Guess I can't get Cykur since hes now in DT :p. Traitor! ;). -Drexion

I really wish there was a way to limit replies in threads to people who win 90%+ of random ICO games :p. Nothing is worse than someone who just plays single-player or has a 50-50 (or worse) ICO win/loss ratio...coming on the forum and trying to spread their wisdom. Personally, I don't always build a colonizer... It depends on the map... I'm also not a big fan of the akkan... But as a general "guideline", I won't ever bash someone for going mothership or the vasari space-whale. <br

Something else that very few people seem to take into account is the travel time of any new ships to the front-line. So when judging whether to upgrade a hull/weapon/etc or not, keep in mind that the technology will arrive there instantly. This is a very handy little "boost" you can get right before that critical first "clash". Gives you superior local "firepower/toughness" which has a great impact in losses/etc of any given battle...Sometimes 10% extra firepower/toughness can make you go from 8

Yeah I didn't mean scouts would be a full-on battle unit. I just ment the old scout-rush strategy will still be incredibly annoying to techers by killing constructors...and now they'll be able to do a bit better if they actually fight :p. I'm not playing Travian anymore, so can't really reach Reldnak sadly :(. I'll send you a forum-pm later with my email. I'm happy with the carrier changes, all my old "flight squadron micro" testing might become useful now, hehe. This is actual

Long time no see, Cykur. Guess your coming back for the new update as well? :). As usual your points are good... Subverters needed to be nerfed, but given Vasari's other weaknesses, the extent of the nerf may be too much...testing is required there... With regards to RA, the cost is pretty high...Whether it is useless or not really depends on how many units (and what unit types) you receive. If I only get enough units for a 10-20% "cost reduction" versus actually producing the units...t

Sure, if they get the combo off your in trouble...but if ya disable the combo and focus fire on the cap, its dead right (if its a big battle, which it SHOULD be since the thing is lvl 6 for brilliance). Once the cap is dead, so is the combo. Then you go on to win :). besides, how hard is it to send the disable ability-cap in first and get it off? If ya mess the disable part up, you deserve to lose hehe.

From the tests we ran Haeso, I think there were always like 15 LRM left in the 20 vs 40 scenario...I think with better focus-firing/etc, it may have ended up with 10-11 LRM left...but still a victory for TEC... Definitely true that at the 34 vs 20 scenario (cost for cost) the illums won with 6-7 left... I wonder what the result would have been if ya threw in the lab+research(extra) cost...Would have been like what, 36-37 vs 20? Probably pretty close... We also tested a 15 lrm v

Heh, now we have conflicting test results...Haeso had a 20 vs 40 test with 9-10 illums left, DreamMystic had the same test with 17 LRM left... In 3 tests for DreamMystic! Seems a bit weird, lol.

Innociv, of course you can use subverters on disciples. But throw in a "spread out force", along with tons of the super-cheap "spread out disciples"... Its very unlikely, unless they have a HUGE subverter mass, that they can disable every disciple. And even if they can, how long can they maintain so many simultaneous disables? 30 seconds later all the disciples are free to drain whatever AM is left. You basically need to keep them all disabled forever, good luck doing that if they are spread out

20 vs 40 and you still had 9-10 illums left? That does sound a bit OP, heh. I'll run some tests too... Thinking that the LRM placement can play a large factor here, should be ways to minimize the illums getting all 3 guns firing.

84 Replies 106,172 Views

Haeso, Try that test again with 33-34 LRM vs 20 illum... Thats a true cost-for-cost. Regardless, illums *should* win since their a higher technology unit, IMO. Just not by a large margin. Test how badly LRM beats assailant cost-for-cost :p. This is also not taking two things into consideration: You get LRM faster, how many extra LRM can ya spam before the fight? At least a few... To get Illums, you pay for a more expensive research AND need an extra lab. How many LRM can ya build for th

If you micro the radiance properly, you can keep within range of the sova and keep burning its antimatter...No biggie.

27 Replies 15,414 Views

Radiance capital as advent. Drain the sova's antimatter with your ability and keep it from getting embargo off.

27 Replies 15,414 Views

All true, but the sad fact is that given how assailants have such a tough time against other LRF in the beginning... I'm forced to try and NOT build them if I can. Going HC rush now as vasari is so much better than before, specially given how slow LRF units are... By the time the enemy LRF comes to your HW, your spamming HC :p. And it also gets your alot closer to vasari's strongpoint: the subverter.

84 Replies 106,172 Views

You need to realize that unless your have -antimatter abilities on a cap (radiance), its useless to try and get the sova out of your HW until you have significant "forces" there to harass it. Even if they only manage to stay in your HW and dodge for 5+ minutes before running to recharge, thats a nice economic benefit AND forces you to waste resources on cobalts/etc while they get the much more cost efficient LRM. Which is why I leave the sova alone at my HW in those situations :p.
