The "alt-select from the empire tree" solution in-game didn't work... has this technique been verified by anyone as working in-game? I displayed the empire tree, disabled stacking, and alt-selected a cannon from the tree, but all it did was select the one cannon at that planet. The problem persists... why is it this difficult to macro-select and control my assets?

Ah ha! I never knew that I could alt-select from the empire tree. That's the magic bullet I was looking for I guess. And yes, I had my icons grouped, because the tree was too unwieldy without them being grouped... looks like I'll just have to deal. Thank you Vandenburg. My second question still stands though -- Is there any way to delete a stack of units simultaneously? When I select a group and try to scuttle them, it only scuttles one at a time.

Nothing? Is there no way to select a type of building / unit across the entire empire? The search function is nice, but it's limited by the types of units that can be selected, and I *still* can't tab-cycle through two buildings in the same gravity well. Hell, I could forgive the limited search tool, if I could just tab through buildings in the same grav well...

I was doing a 102 planet, 5 star game this week, and towards the end, I started spamming Novalith Cannons. At first, I was hotkeying them to 0, 9, 8, 7, etc, but when I came to control too many, I just started putting them on autofire and forgetting about them. Although it was fun to see 30-40 Novalith shots traveling between systems, it was a pain in the butt to have to wait 20 minutes for the shots to subside before I could colonize any plants that had been flattened, for fear of more shots

No worries, it's all good. These forums CAN be pretty slow. :\ You've got a good point about the smart antimatter usage too. It'd be nice to have the ability to designate a reserve amount that the computer will never auto-cast below. I hate having an enemy cap ship get away because I'm 10 antimatter short of an ion bolt...

Could you please delete the three unnecessary copies of this thread currently residing in the general forums? I think you went click-happy when posting this thread.

I just don't understand why everyone's grabbing torches and pitchforks over something that is only "at best, a stretch." The OP's post is not egregious or inflammatory. It doesn't accuse the developers of intellectual plagiarism or copyright infringement. The man's just saying that the similarities he sees between the two games took away some of SINS' novelty to him. Comments like:
This is why children who think video games were invented in 2005 piss me off.
The OP states his point clearly and supports it with relevant evidence. After reading what he has to say, I have to admit that there's certainly some parallelism between the two games. Not really sure why people are throwing the BS flag without subsequently citing their own counter-evidence to disprove him. It seems like the main opposition is to the fact that he made this post in the first place -- not to the examples he used to support it. OP, interesting point. I didn't r

Great post! I'm going to direct my friend to this thread as well. With so many of these mechanics being "under the hood", it's nice to see them analyzed a bit more in depth!

Star jumps are semi-predictable. Draw a line between the two stars as if it was a regular jump lane. Position your forces in the general area where that virtual jump lane would end in your star's gravity well. When the enemy fleet transitions in, you will be in the general area and close enough to interdict them and inflict damage before they can leave the gravity well. If you want to be REALLY sneaky, manually move your fleet slightly outside of the radius of the gravity well (just

After making that post, I started thinking about it, and I'm prone to agree with you. It probably has more to do with the interval of time between them being individually queued and less to do with the exact method of selection / clicking. Although that being said, shift-clicking seems to reduce that interval to 0 and does indeed change how they are created.

You can also go to the Keybindings page on the options screen. Look for Buy Metal and Buy Crystal. They're bound to something initially, but I changed them to F5 (metal) and F6 (crystal). It's a lot easier to just punch the button a few times than have to muck about with the black market UI. Plus you don't lose track of what's going on in the game. Edit: Travel to a new solar system by researching the appropriate drive technology in the military tree. I don't know the

(un-extricates himself, offering the Kitty of Peace) After testing this issue in-game, here's what I came up with. Your mileage may vary. Setup 1: Box-selected 5 frigate factories at one planet. Click-queued the frigate icon 5 times. Result 1: Factories 1, 2, and 3 produced 1 frigate almost simultaneously after the full frigate timer counted down. Shortly thereafter, Factories 1 and 2 produ

I have nothing against him. In fact I've voiced support for one of his opinions before (on implementing ground combat). I just enjoy reading/lurking in these forums because I love this game and it's such a civil place generally. Having come from the WoW forums, I'm used to seeing this type of openly combative behavior in every thread. The SoaSE forums are my attempt to *escape* that kind of junk, and with the overwhelming majority of posters here, that has been the case. Any

Kruelgor, You have demonstrated a pattern of harassing, unnecessarily antagonistic behavior in your posts. I feel that the tone and delivery of an atypically large volume your posts is designed solely to prompt harsh defensive responses from people, which you then respond to in kind. I don't appreciate your demonstrated trend of consistently degrading the quality of interactions on this forum, like you have over the last several weeks. I don't believe that I'm alone in this o
