Here is a good list of possible planet types http://www.onewest.net/~dollan/ARCpclindex.html
I would suggest : 1) Random Events (market crashes, planetary disasters, bug-eyed monster attacks, plagues, etc) 2) Designate systems to avoid (I send ships from planet A to planet B and tell them not to go thru the pirate base) 3) Have some of the non-habitable planet types damage ships. (radiation damage, gravitational stress, meteor damage, etc) 4) Star sizes (Red Giants, white dwarfs, red dwarfs). Currently, all are same size, but different colo
In most games it seems that there is always a preferred strategy. You have to be able to implement it in a certain time. So it is the same map, same race, etc. If you choose last week's settings. you are a noob. I have kids, and I just don't have time to keep up on these things. I don't have a lot of time to play, let alone do post-game analysis.
A long time ago, when I bought Ascendancy. The clerk told me that if I like the game, come back in a month when MOO2 comes out. I did enjoy Ascendancy and came back to get MOOII. While in line I also got Civilization II. I think I played CIV2 first. I don't think I ever played Asendancy again...
Another vote for MOO3.
I can confim that observation.
I posted on an other thread that there should be a "chain reaction" in a dense field of mines. Debris from the first explosion sets off additional explosions, and propagates outwards. It should die out randomly. I agree that this should damage any nearby friendly ships/structures. A small gap in the mine field would be created. The mines should also slow down all ships.
A dense field of mines should suffer from a "chain reaction" if one explodes. Debris from the ship and the first mine sets off the nearest mines. This propagates outwards from the original explosion, setting off more and more mines. I suspect this would happen in real life. This would create a few small gaps in the mine field. I agree that the mines should self destruct after a player loses control of the planet. Or at least become inert.&n
I noted that star bases, etc are not in the post game statistics or achievements. I'm sure they will add that.
Impulse: We're listening - haha thats the biggest laugh I've had all day. You have still NOT provided an easy way for people without Intetnet access to patch their games. Talk about marking patching difficult.
This was the problem I had. I am not allowwed to install any SW on my PC at work. SO there is no way I could have install IMPULSE to get the patches. I believe my local library has simila
I've made my own maps with 1 star (with about 12 planets) for each player. The largest I've done is 3 stars.
I liked "Act of War".
Always multiply the time estimate by two and convert to the next highest units. (1day -> 2weeks) (2weeks -> 4months)
Will building a starbase use the tactical slots of a planet and/or fleet/capital ship capacity?
It only seems to show the full size by default, but once you start downloading it will show how much the current update is and your progress towards it.Impulse should be able to resume downloads.
Please add an estimate of the download size (from the latest release) to Impluse or the change log. I want to know before I push any buttons.
Re people without Internet Connections: You download a game, archive it to a flash drive, take it home, unarchive it and voila
I don't want to have to go somewhere to download the ENTIRE game everytime there is a patch. It is not a big deal to undate overnight with my dial-up. Will impulse tell me how big a download I need? I need to know how big a download is to plan how to do it. (Even when I do stuff on a fast connection I want to know if it will take 1min or 10min
We will not be providing standalone patches for v1.1 or for any future version of any of our games. Updates will only be made available via Impulse moving forward. If you don't have an Internet connection on your gaming rig for some reason, it's very easy to update a copy of Sins on an Internet-connected PC, archive that, and then burn it to disc. You can then use Impulse offline to restore the updated archive on your other system.
Is there a way to see how
How many megs is the patch?
I have not tried this yet on Sins: What I do on some RTS games is to set up three teams (2v1v1), so that I have a partner and our opponents are at war with each other also.
I'm seeing the same thing. Played a small map with no performance issues with: 3Ghz P4 1gig ram ATI 9600 PRO 256mb XP pro I am happy I can play with the minimum suggested video card!
I ordered a copy from Amazon. It shipped quickly, but DHL sent it to the wrong city. So I'm still waiting. I usually have better luck with Amazon. Just some info to anyone trying to decide how to order.
For those of use who are cavemen with dial-up, how big is the new patch?
