Can't say this is gonna be a short beta The beta is expected to be at least 9 month long. See the first post of Brad in the thread about beta schedule https://www.galciv2.com/Forums.aspx?ForumID=162&AID=64347
Peace Phoenix
As I read the IGBM proposal, it may (and perharps should) be used as a way to counter a fleet. I am not sure that fleet combats are currently implemented, but if the betas show that fleets are too powerful, a way to counter them could be to have missiles that do damage to all ships in the fleet. Currently, there are 3 weapons associated with 3 armors. The rationnal behind that I see, is to have a way to counter an ennemy that rely heavily on one weapon and isn't protected against others,
It sounds like GC1 actually had reasonable governors. Well, GC I governors aren't intelligent: you give a list of improvements to build, and they stick to the order defined
Well, if you don't know what is the better to do, make an option about how long between unhiding and hiding and let the user decides about the behavior
In fullscreen, ALT+TAB doesn't work very well. You could used a windowed mode (fullscreen = 0) with the resolution set at the display resolution.
I'd like to understand why the galactic map (and minimap) is designed along 45° lines... (and not along vertical and horizontal lines of a monitor). You may find what you want in the dev journals : https://www.galciv2.com/Forums.aspx?ForumID=164&AID=65894
which differs from the account I used to pre-purchase GC2 (since the accounts are tied to email addresses). I registered using the serial number from Stardock's email Well, the serial id is surely associated with the e-mail associated with the purchase.
Well, "Alien tech victory" means that if aliens find the final frontier tech before your, you won't be able to end the game with a tech victory. But it isn't the end of the game: you can still win with other conditions.
I just thought that by reporting things that could be fixed, I'd be contributing something to this game's community.
Understandable. It is just that Galciv II is now in development and Galciv I version is pretty stable, even if the latest patch (july 04) is still recorded as beta. So you shouldn't expect to see a new patch. Galciv I is 2 year old and Stardock has only promised one year of free patchs and ehancements.
Well, take a look here http://www.galciv.com/playerreg.asp, point 7. (Drenging.net was the older name of Totalgaming.net)
maybe your gfx driver's a bit out of date? It looks like very possible: Driver Name: ati2dvag.dll Driver Version: 6.14.0010.6360 Driver Date: 6/3/2003 10:41:02 </fo
I trying the alt-tabbing trick and it didn't work for me Are you running in windowed mode or in fulsscren mode (one of the options in pref.ini)?
Well, have you look at this thread ? http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?id=178533&BID=GF&page=1#200390 There are some informations about bink tool. [Message Edited]
BTW, be wary that some fixes were associated with morale: it is easier to keep planet happy in the lastest versions. And the version in the bargain bin, is it first-hand or second hand? If it is first hand, you shouldn't have any problem to upgrade the game. If it is second hand, you may want contact Stardock to be able to upgrade or upload game to metaverse since your serial Id may be associated with the previous owner.
Bigrobg, you should download smartException, run it, and send the associated report, as well as the debug.err file located in the Galciv II directory to Stardock. By the way, saving game and loading game shouldn't work in the latest beta. And don't forget to get the latest drivers for you graphical card.
I can't seem to dowload it, on the list there is just galciv (1) the political machine robin hood orb celtic knights basegolf, uplink nexagon, ww2 frontline command, stellar frontier, the corporate machine, and lightweight ninja.. no beta of galciv 2 to download >. Silly question, but have you checked the
If you are a member of total gaming.net do you get to be a part of the beta as part of that? Yes
The required tech box shows the last tech researched not any tech required for the tech you are looking at I found that required tech box doesn't correctly reset, especially on tech with no requirement: - click on prouplsion, then ehanced hyperdrive: required tech is ion drive - then click on biology and soil
AP is 1.52, and is a non-free extension
if I purchase the "CD" option, can I still go ahead and download it today (and have a serial number so I can play)?
You should be able: as long as you have a serial ID, you can download the whole game
either giving you x bonus towards a technology, or flat out giving you a lower level M.D. tech. Sound nice. Maybe x bonus toward a tech, and if requirements are missing, towards requirement when the bonus would have given the tech.
Count me in too. More, it will make sense if we are able to specify a goal and have all needed techs for this goal queued.
Or perhaps start a new empire thread for the GC. BTW, I don't think that the empire forum is on another server.
Woa, you're right! I disabled Vsync. How do you do that?
How can their treasury possibly BE so low?
They have rushuying something that cost lost of money, like Trade Goods (diplo translators are one). And to prevent to savegame abuse, AI can rushbuy wonder/trad goods or reload.
