i downloaded the game
If you downloaded with SDC, then the serial id should be seen in SDC
Peace Phoenix
Im not paying half the game price for you to ship it to UK thats wrong..
Well, you could always choose the electronic download: no shipping costs, no custom taxes ;)
There are currently no standalone patches. The only way to patch SoaSE is to use Stardock Central. You must specifically say that you want to patch your game, as older savegames generally don't work with a new version. SDC will patch your game to the latest available version for SoaSE from any previous version SoaSE. And it will done it by updating only the files that require it.
Sadly, there isn't any standalone patch currently available. So the only way is to use SDC (which must be installed first) on a computer that have an intenet connexion. Then you register your SoaSE Serial Id along with your e-mail in SDC. Then you use the download and archive function of SDC. You copy the downloaded file on a portable medium (like an USB key). You copy this file on your home computer and use SDC to extract and install the game.
I need the real thing so I can play it lan with my bro, so I guess I wait it out then. Thanks for the help!!?
Why do you need the real thing? What is really preventing you to download the game?
We're talking to some folks.
I hope those folks are made well aware about various Stardock's policies concerning rewarding legitimate user to prevent use of duplicated serial Id as well as the possible impact about regular contents updates on localized versions
I would they are when they factor in all the variables both tangible and intangible as well as the impact on the value of their products.
I fear that they haven't then correctly weighted ALL factors ;)
Had Iron Lore been working on the Stardock DRM free policy, then they would've lived.
Well, Stardock DRM free policy has a cost for developpers (staffing enough persons for patchs, contents updates, interacting with users, .... ). And that cost must be translated into money from the publisher. And I don't think that publishers (and the associated bean counters) are ready for that way to handle piracy ;)
And why is the Australian market getting screwed over with this game?
And what about Europe where no distributing contract has been successfully made ? Currentlty, if you are in Europe and want to have SoaSE, the only way thats isn't too costly is to buy directly from Stardock the download version. That way, you won't have Handling and Ship fees for senting a box from USA to Europe and you won't experience custom taxes (just look at this post <A href="https://for
I think some people may find very informative this near 4 year old article , from Brad Wardell/Frogboy/Draginol http://draginol.joeuser.com/article/21895 ...
The sad part is, PC developers want to turn the current system of buying software into a system of leasing software. Stardock could release the worst game in existence, and it'd still be immensely popular due to the fact that people will buy the game on principal. We support the game developers who treat us like adults, rather than children. DRM is the fast-track to failure nowadays, especially after that Music Industry fiasco.
Well, if you read correctly the E
if they used no copy protection like Stardock's games.
Well, Stardock's way of dealing with piracy is composed of various things, which all boil down to make it easier to be a customer than a pirate: - no protection on the retail copy - can play the game without any CD or without needed to be connected to Internet - one time activation to valid your copy, linking a serial Id with a single e-mail - lots of free updates available onl
Impulse will also support updating your games even if you didn't buy the game from Stardock and will support managing games that aren't even on Impulse by default.
Are you planning to handle localized versions when available or will it works only for english versions?
hello LoupGris. As you live in France, you may be interested by the following thread https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/?forumid=443&aid=301629
Hey, am i the only one that noticed that space is 3D.
Well, space is in 3D but planets paths around a star tends to be approximatively in the same plane. So it is a good approximation to have a solar system map in 2D ;)
I think I have missed something: on the page listing all TGN games http://totalgaming.stardock.com/store/ , the price for Sins is 45$ or 6 tokens. The strange thing is that the only thing that costs 6 token is the PowerGamer 2006 with an equivalent price of 60$ and GC2:Gold costs 5 tokens or 45$. And Genesis Rising costs 40$ or 4 tokens. Generally, 1 token is worth 10$, with the notable exception of Space Ranger 1 (
Can i download the game again for nothing as i have already paid or should i buy the boxed version online?
The serial id that came with your retail copy allows you to patch the game with SDC and to download the whole game through SDC once you have registred it.
do I have to *really* dish out 70$ just so I can preorder and beta test? No, 70$ is for having 10 tokens. Which means 30% rebate since the conversion between game price and corresponding tokens is at 1 token for 10$. So the game will cost between 4 and 5 tokens, depending if the retail price will be 39$ or 49 $ <img src="http://images.sta
Well, the public beta for Sins of a Solar Empire is currently programmed for january 2007
BTW, the top post of the following thread https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/index.aspx?AID=133080 states that the public beta will be open to users who have preordered. And you will download the beta through Stardock Central (see https://www.galciv2.com/Downloads.aspx ). And I guess that SDC will be available on the download page of this sit
Well, this forum is handled the same way that other Stardock forums based on the same engine, like the Galciv2 forums. What is exaclty bad and confusing? Sure, it may require a bit of practice to be used if you have only experienced PHP based forums.
Well, the advantage of Totalgaming.net is that it allows you to download the electronic version of the game without having to bother about shipping costs or retail availability. The only things you need is an international credit card and a very good internet connexion. I was a beta tester for Galciv2 without any problem. And that has allowed me to play the game months before it was available in France without worrying about localization problems. And the exchange rate between euros a
