My Homeworld Mod

This is my first attempt at a conversion and I am still learning. I have the Kushan(TEC) and Taiidan(Vasari) playable. I have played the Kushan on a huge FFA map to the end. I didn't add the motherships because I can't decide what role they would play other than a huge carrier. I made the Homeworld corvettes as frigates, HW frigates as cruisers, and well, Cap ships are Cap ships. I made the cloak generator as a planetmodule. which will cloak your modules and ships in an area of effect, but not planets. The gravwell generator is mobile, blocking phase jumping in an area for a little longer time than the phase block module. to keep the enemy from fleeing. Added a few derlicts to fill out the ship slots and made a missile corvette for the Taiidan. I will add the Kadesh next in the Advent slot and eventually the Turanic Raiders as pirates (and make them playjable). Thanks to Sierra, Relic and anyone associated with this great game, Homeworld.

     I just re-installed V1.05 but now i cant even start up the game without getting a mini-Dump. I hate those things. What are they annyway? So i need to stick with V1.12.

Wraith, how far are you in making the V1.12 of this mod? just wondering. Oh and just an idea here, but maybe you could ask Uzii if you could use his sins plus planets. I wish those planets would be in the game its self by now. not just a mod. I mean with all the Updates happening.

I hope Wraith is still working on this, but i can imagine it is a ton of work, but maybe with the textures and models done, it could only be updating the text files, but im not sure of course. Wraith would know though.  Thank you Wraith for a great mod!!!  We really really really would like to see it for 1.12 or Entrenchment, which of course is right around the corner. But dont know how much work that means. But we HW fans really really do appreaciate your work!! It looks awesome!!!!!

I think he's working on it for V 1.12 now. I gave him a map of HW universe for his mod a while ago so its probably almost done...I would'nt realy know though im not a moder just a map maker. but i still cant wait!

Is there a release date yet?

I want to play this mod so badly! I cant get V 1.05 back because of technical problems on startup. I've never played this mod and i am a huge homeworld fan!

Yes, i've done that, Blair pointed me in the same direction you mention, the deployable combat turrets, which are frigates with the engines nerfed, but the ability is there, all you have to do is change meshes and hudicons, name and description texts, for whatever you want. I made Frigate-Capitals that way that you could launch using the abilitydeploycombatturret.entity.  You can also launch the other frigates without using the combatturret file, just the normal frigate one, and change the abilitydeployCombatTurret to something like abilitydeployPsiScout and it will. Inside the ability you can also set a timer for the ship if you want it to expire, like say 180 seconds, or -1 if you want it to be permanent.

Its way cool, try it, or if you like, check out my mini-mod its the Songs of a Crystal Sun 3.4 on WinCustomize, and just take a look at the code, its already there, i just plugged in values and switched meshes and pics and reference things found in the string folder, where everything gets its name and discription for the game.

Hope i dont sound like im touting my own horn, im not that good, it was already there to do, and it made it interesting to see it in game :)

Have you guys thought about having this mod included in the Seven Deadly Sins' collection? I would REALLY like to see the homeworld races taking on Captain Kirk or a Star Destroyer. :-)

Everyone on the Team is a huge fan of Homeworld, and as such DANMAN3712 will definitely make the Kushan Godlike

but....

then again if we manage to keep everything balanced, even the Taiidans will have a hard time with the Feds/Empire/Atlantains

Lol, I'm just throwing ideas out there to the community. I remember playing Homeworld and Homeworld 2. I loved the storyline and while the gameplay in Homeworld 1 was a bit more to my liking both games were enjoyable and emersive. I guess my motivation for bring up the idea was just based on the fact that I think it would be cool to have the top quality mods (whatever they are / whenever they get completed) to be included in one complete playable package. :grin:

 

That all being said, The thought of Homeworld ships duking it out with Tec, Empire ... and whatever else just seems, epic. :-P

Ya it would be cool to have all the mods in one. Way easier to play. And a heavy cruiser against an imperial star destroyer would be cool to see.

I guess we just have to wait.

Wraith private messaged me saying he's making it compaible for v1.15. So i guess more waiting...:( .

Ok and Wraith, where did you get the mesh and texture files? Did you make them all yourself? If so, it must have been hard. Just asking because i was looking for the files in the homeworld folder but theres nothing there. I wanted to see if i could put the mothership in Homeworld2...Ya didnt happen... Oh well. I just wanted to see the mothership and the pride side by side.

What does the mothership do? Is It Like a frigate and cap. factory? Is it a colony ship? Is it just a big carrier?

I havnt played the V1.05 one:'( . (And i know that no matter what that i can never NEVER get it back) LOTS of problems. You could say the computer has an Error Code ghost haunting my game from ever returning to the land ov V1.05>_>  annoying ghosts. Well im hoping V1.15 is the LAST version of sins.

I have an idea. And yes i have heard of 7DS. Maybe you could combine HW, SoaGE, Battlestar Galactica, SG atlantis and Solar Sins mods together to form one supermod! I'm saying this because 7DS isn't going to ever be for V1.15. Most of these mods are already for V1.15 so all the work is basicly done.

I would like to know where you get your information. I am a member of the 7DS team, and I can tell you that we are, at this very moment, working on making 7DS 1.15 compatable. It just takes a while because 7DS is very large, and a lot of stuff was changed when Sins made the jump to version 1.1.

And we have plans to incorporate all of the mods you mentioned (assuming the creators give us permission, of course). Solar Sins already is, as is the Empire from SoaGE. Again, as I type this there are people working on getting the rest of the Star Wars stuff in. You just have to give it some time.

I asked the forum and like 10 people are telling me that it will only be for v1.05. Thats where i get my info.

And i have given it some time. Ive been waiting for all the mods to be to this version. I dont like just waiting! I would help if i knew how but people keep telling me to get 3D max but i cant buy it right now. And i realy want to start moding.

Oh and did you say that HW mod will be in to?

Well then, who ever is telling you these things is wrong. The current version of 7ds that came out a couple days ago, 2.0, only works with Sins v1.05. We are working on 7ds 2.5, which will work with Sins v1.15 (or whatever version they are on by then) Following that, there will be 7ds 3.0, which should have the HW, Star Trek, BSG, Stargate, and Halo mods, as well as some other stuff (again, assuming the creators of each of those mods let us).

You do not need 3Ds Max. You can download XSI for free and use that to model, although it is hard to use, and a lot of people have problems with it not working correctly. 3Ds Max is prefered because it is what DANMAN uses, so there is less work involved for him when he makes the ships ready for use in game. But again, you can use just about any 3D program to help out, if you want to.
