I've been trying out see how low I can go w/ my specs. I've got two more rigs to put this game on, a Pentium 4 3.06GHz w/ Hyper Threading + GeForce 7600GT 128MB (below spec on both fronts) or my Core2Duo 2GHz + GeForce M8400GS 128MB laptop which is also below spec because the game calls for 256MB of graphics memory. Both computers have Vista 64 and 4GB of RAM. I wonder how the game will fare even on the lowest settings.
So far, the lowest hardware I've installed Demigod to is an Athlon 64 X2 @ 2.5GHz + Radeon X1950Pro 256MB with 2GB of RAM and Vista 64. On that it works on Medium, but it kinda hangs just a bit when playing a starting match. After a while it smooths out. I seem to be having a lot more luck on Low, but I'm wondering how high I can go while getting a stable framerate even when the action is packed on the screen and trying that with LAN gaming as well.
What I want to know is why the game is requiring a dual-core CPU. Maybe it's because it was programmed to parallel process, maybe it is because the netcode puts the affinity for the network card on one of the cores so the other can utilize all the crazy artificial intelligence going on in the game. I have no clue but I'd really like some answers at least on why there's no "turn off all backgrounds, needless special effects, stage details" like I said above.
