Light of Altair has recently appeared on Impulse. There is also a Demo, but I did not find it on Impulse; it may be there and I just missed it.
The developers published a very interesting PostMortem that provides a rare insight into how games really get put together. Worth reading if you are into the tech side. Note that this is a PostMortem for the development, hardly for the game itself which just went retail.

So, I'm playing the demo ... er ... playing at the demo ... abusing the demo ... being abused by the demo ... no ... let's be honest. I am arguing with the Demo and losing those arguments.
You can find reviews elsewhere. My initial impressions: smooth user interface, graphics that I really happen to like, music that is at least tolerable, not more than that. It seems to be a resource management game so far. I am terrible at managing resources.
The colonies are vaguely reminiscent of the colonies in Master of Orion 2, except that you are personally involved in the creation of multiple instances of things like solar arrays and hydroponics bubbles. Also, there is not just one colony per planet, but a whole network of colonies. Research and build the right stuff to make a profit. Probably you build starships at some point, but I haven't got that far.
I posted this mainly because I thought you would find the PostMortem interesting.
Postscript: The demo froze after I got further in. Not very encouraging.
