Now that Advent have an awesome LRM it is just fair that they get their uber special cap ship ability taken away.
MegaVolt
5 skirmisher >> 4 cobalds evasc has the nanite ability which makes it superior to most other caps in 1v1 at low level turrets could not have been in range - or just not strong enough to overcome the huge advance the vasari fleet initially had getting repair bays up is probably the best idea to deal with that. they are usually better then turrets
Nah. A complete overhaul is the wrong way to go I think. Returning Armada is such a nice and unique ability, taking it out would be a shame. As posted a while ago, leaving RA as it is but simply limiting the portal which can warp in ships to one per planet would be more then enough. With only one instead of three active portals per planet the Vasari can still warp around the map like they are supposed to but they can't totally overwhelm their opponents with masses of ships - except
If he really has Illuminators only then carrier ships with fighters (not bombers) are a great counter. You just have to run them away from the Illuminators so that the carrier doesn't get hit while the fighters do damage. Problem with that is that fighters are countered by flak very, very hard so if he decides to bring flak you are totally screwed. Then the carriers are best used to do hit'n'run attacks on his planets while you try to kill his fleet in some other way. Also quit
I like the ingame rank thingy. About the button: Why not change surrender / quit into quit game / quit to desktop. I really like to have one button to directly quit Sins itself and not only the current game I'm in (like StarCraft and WarCraft offer it).
The DRM (to be precise: the lack of draconic DRM) in SDC / Impulse is reason enough to prefer it over Steam. If a game was available on both I'd certainly buy the StarDock Verson of it. The only problem SDC / Impulse has is that right now there are nearly no titles for it (that one actually would want to buy). GC2 and Sins are great but besides that there is no real interesting "modern" title. The next best thing is probably Space Rangers 2 but that one is a bit dated. I really hope
Hey, you're forgetting, I'm more open-source/indie than commercial. Quite frankly, the profit devotion puts me off too. Quality suffers too much. Yep, large-scale and profits-first means that you get a huge group of people coming up with as many ways as possible to make it impossible to play the game.
I don't agree. Trying to maximize your profit long-term means you have to make a good playable game. So a *well done* profits-first strategy benefits everybody. <br/
Actually that is exactly the reason why I will not preorder Demigod. Seeing the really medicore multiplayer support SD/IC offer for Sins I do not have the confidence to pre-order a game that I will only ever play in multplayer and which will be totally ruined without very, very good game balance. So because Ironclad supposedly cant balance for Sinsofasolarempire , your not going to buy a game developed and balanced by Gas powered games.Funny.edit: back on topic. Yes illums are overpowered.
Mass Heavy Cruisers. Mayy strike craft (fighters, as long as he is really only going Illums and doesn't have flak with them). Mass flak. But you are right, the game has some balance issues. Let's hope SD / IC see multiplayer as a field to improve and not as "oh, only 2% of the people play it so we ignore it" thingy like it seems now. Personally, I am very disappointed with the way the patches were handles so far. I expected some quick balance patches (not changing anything in t
the point about logistics slots of X available is a good point that has been suggested before. Not implemented yet. There may be a way to mod the infocards to do this, but that's not really my scene. Although I found this feature less necessary after I played the game a bit more. (there's really no point in micromanaging your logistics like this too much)It sounds like you've got the fleet thing down. It was a little wierd for me at first too. But when you recreate the fleet (with t
For the start it is best to play with locked teams. That way you will not receive any missions and the enemies will not team up. You can play 1v1v1v1v... or 2v2v2v.... or any team sizes you want. Later, to get some more challenge, you can go 3v5 or something like like. Proposal for the next patch: Make locked teams the standard setup. The diplomacy system is so bad, there really is no need to show it off by making it the default setting. It's just annoying for people that don't realize right
The thing with having multiplayer is it takes alot of money and time to get right. And based on the amount of people who play online VS the people who have bought the game, it doesn't seem like it was worth it.Online is cool, but a well developed AI can seem like the real thing.
The thing with having multiplayer is it takes alot of money and time to get right. Problem is that if you don't get it right, people will not play online and you might think it's not worth it. Bu
I think the problem is that Sins multiplayer wasn't really strong to start with. Lots of issues with the netcode, complicated and not up-to-date way to get into games (like StarCraft but even more complicated and since StarCraft there have been some serious improvements like auto-matching and so on). In addition to that IC started to beat the already weak online community with the death-stick by listening to whining of players who never played online and just were annoyed by some stupid
Master or not, it's goo spread over cloth. You, sir, obviously don't understand art. That's like saying 'Barbie in Fairytopia' and 'Don Quijote' are on the same literary level because they're both printed on paper.I used the example of rare art from a master because that was what erathoniel himself used, saying he wouldn't pay more than sixty bucks for it.As someone who likes to attempt to understand art, I can tell you I'd pay much more than that.Just like I wouldn't pay two squirts of owl
True, the Linux market is quite small. And also true, OpenGL has some serious issues. I really miss some big developer taking charge there and bringing it up-to-date in the gaming section (for "professional" 3D development it is by far superior to DirectX ... that's the main problem: OpenGL wasn't made for games). However, even if the additional market is quite small, as long as the cost to get there is not too high (which it is not, ID software has only one man writing their linux clie
That was the LAST time we ever play GCII, because the game reads that his computer is differentAll he should need to do is delete the sig.bin file and reactivate. It only ever becomes an issue if you copy the game directly from one machine to another, rather than reinstalling via SDC.
True but how should a "normal" customer know that the sig.bin file is responsible for it and has to be deleted? This might actually be a point to improve StarDock DRM a little. Like ...
Gormoth1: Yes sure, the guy who made the game can do with it whatever he wants. If EA wants to charge 2000 bucks for Spore. If they decide not to sell the game but instead let every customer sign a lease on it they are allowed to. It's their game after all, they can do with it whatever they want. But then they have to be consequent and stop blaming pirates for their complete failure. Going around and crying "oh no pirates are destroying our sales" while simultaniously treating customers
Rather, rehabilitation is the key. I know that goes against people's initial instincts and emotions, but trust me, it works out better for everyone in the long run.
Yea, it works better for everyone. Like ... you rehabilitate the sex offender and after playing nice to the psychologist he gets released and starts raping the next 8year old girl. Everybody is happy then!
Actually, I think we should have a society that works on the front end like public education and continuing education rather than work on society at the back end in law and punishment. There will always be people in this world that will perform acts such as discriped here but no one wants to talk about how that person came to commit such acts in the first place.
These days, everbody had a difficult childhood. But not everybody becomes a murderer. People should stop to
A lot of people like mini-expansion packs (I do). I want to make them too. But there are lots of "vocal" users who are opposed to the idea for various reasons who try to bully developers into not making them.
Customers try to "bully" developers? What? How should that ever be possible? Do they drive to the developers house and toilet-paper it? Last I checked people complained on forums about a policy they don't like. That hardly qualifies as bullying in my opinion ...<
Why would anybody want to go for two early cap ships and lack frigates? Doesnt make any sense at all ...
Same goes for the Source engine that - until now - had been dx only ;)
Frogboy: Could you explain that last sentence? Maybe it's just the time or that English isn't my native language but I totally don't get what you are trying to say ;) Vocal groups as in customers? When did they ever ask for mini expansion packs? And which "others" might like it?
If a game's copy protection has the effect of making my ownership temporary, ie limited installs/activations and the like, then it is effectively a rental, not a purchase. In that case, I will pay exactly what I would pay to rent a game, and nothing more.
There is the truth. +1 karma for that ;)
MegaVolt, this is hardly the same MP3-limit issue. You can listen to a song 5 years from purchase, as it really never gets old, but you'll hardly play a game (espe
