If planet loyalty isn't the issue, then are you talking about pirates? Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question, but your description doesn't sound like anything related to rebels that I've ever seen.

Just a few quick comments. First, you mention in your original post that you grab a few planets and develop them and build a fleet as possible. The balance between planetary development, research and fleet building in the early game is a delicate one, so it is possible that you have been putting too many resources into economic development, planetary upgrades and/or research, and not enough into fleet development. The second thing that I will note is that you do not
I think this is a very interesting idea. If travel between stars is very slow and players can get notifications of inbound fleets (as long as they have at least one starbase in the star's gravwell), it would be possible to add new players continuously without disrupting play. And/or, you could have a 30-day signup period, and then start a universe/game with all of the registered players (each with his own star) at that point in time, and then let it play out from ther
I don't know why my experience is so different, but in the games I generally play (9 AI players vs. me), the AI has no problem building starbases and upgrading them. Including the "auxiliary government" upgrade. In my current game, for example, all three remaining AI players are Vasari, and every planet is protected by an Orkulus with the anti-bombardment upgrade, plus whatever is required to get up to around 20,000 hull points and 10,000 shield points. So I don't think th
To second what Ryat says, the AI has changed considerably since Entrenchment. In fact, it changed significantly just during the update process for Rebellion as well. I like a long game and tend to play in the vast single-star environment, and the AI that I am fighting against definitely poses more of an active threat than it used to. It can not only be quite aggressive, but very stubborn on defense as well. Having been playing space-based computer strategy game
There has to be some law of diminishing returns in play here. The first release reportedly sold over 500,000 units. How many people then purchased Entrenchment, Diplomacy, Trinity, Rebellion and finally the last DLC? That's not to be negative, it's just a recognition that there is only so much that can be done with the existing game, based on audience attrition over time. If there is still enough energy left in the old game, I would think that a relatively
Sins is a game in which play can vary a lot depending on starting conditions. The rush tactics favored by human players work best in close quarters situations, but in those situations they are pretty much inescapable. To enjoy a less frenetic game, you need to insulate yourself from the other human player(s) with some AI players. 1v1 vs. 8AI, where the two humans don't start right next to each other, will let your longer-term strategies come into play. Or,
Sulley1 makes some very good points, which match my own experiences. Previously I had been playing on a "vast" map with a single star and 9 AI players, and was able to win most (but not all) of the time vs. 9 "hard" AI players, sometimes with a couple of "unfair" AI's mixed in for good measure. Luck of the draw as far as factions, maps and type of AI definitely affected the type of game I would wind up playing. Since the update and DLC, however, what was challenging ha
Can I change what color the beam is by changing this parameter? beamGlowColor ffffffff I'm assuming that's a color tag of some sort, but I haven't gone through the trouble to find out.
I'm not a modder, so take all of this with a grain of salt. YMMV. The color tag looks like it could be a standard hexidecimal color value, except those have only six digits. Try #00FF00. If what results is lime green, then that's what you are
>>>GoaFan77: as ever the diplomat, but I think you miss my main point, which is that the tone of the response was inappropriate. If the goal is to chase away all new players, then Caffinate's strategery was right on target. My comment was intended to let Darth Rico know that we don't all have Asperger's, however. That way perhaps he'll keep coming back to ask questions, offer comments, and continue to play the game. Heck,
Quit your whining.
His objection is completely reasonable, and your response is inappropriate. This is a case where a change made to benefit a small community (the multiplayers) may have been unnecessary or even counterproductive from the perspective the vast majority of the Sins community who just enjoy or only have time to play vs. the AI. It is what it is, but you have no reason to be such a nerf-herder about it.</
But why should a planet that is basically dead have a larger logistics pool on it?
Except that the logistics structures are not "on" the planet per se . They are in orbit. Barren planets have lower population caps, which reflects their "barren" status. Availability of stable orbital options is unrelated to the habitability of a world. Of course, using the logic stemming from the distinction betw
Capital ships do not require research, and the first one of them is free. If you are doing a slow start, you will have to build a capital ship factory first (which is not free), but in the fast start game you do start with a capital ship factory so you can build one right away. They do take supply points, so having one will reduce the size of the rest of your fleet, but in general the payoff is that they start picking up experience levels right away and become increasingly effecti
My usual gameplay is: Map: huge random mutli star. Teams unlocked. Everything slow. Military victory only.
My preferences are largely the same, except that I prefer Random Vast Single. I used to play primarily Multi, but found that a larger and more intricate network of planets and wormholes around one star makes for a more interesting game, at least from my perspective. But I digress. My mai
Get Rebellion via the Steam sale. The depth of play that comes from the three separate update (Entrenchment, Diplomacy and Rebellion) enriches the game greatly, and with Rebellion you get all of them in one package, now at a substantial discount!
When playing a free for all please scout your opponents to check whether there going fleet or Titan. If there going for a titan then go destroy the construction facility and cost him 2000 credits, attack his hw, kill his population economy and kill his military labs. The issue I'm having is people letting there opponents build these things so early in the game when there's nothing worth around to defend their construction. The end result is
There are a number of simple "rules" regarding how to build a dynamic and growing online community. Unfortunately, the loudest voices in the multiplayer clique chose to stomp on all of them. With predictable results. This doesn't bother me too much, because my schedule pretty much requires that I play vs. the AI anyway (although it should bother the heck out of Ironclad/Stardock, because they chased away a lot of customers), but I do object to the idea that these folks

If you meant ping, in the IP networking (or sonar) sense, you shouldn't have capitalized it. I just assumed it was some sort of shorthand/acronym for a more obscure game-related term. Sorry. To reiterate my other question, however, where is the gameplay.constants file stored?
OK. You know a lot more about this game than I do. Although I guess now I have a question: why do I see the multiplayer community complaining so much about players who won't quit? Why doesn't this line take care of that? Also, I tried searching for the gameplay.constants file on my computer, and couldn't find it. Where is it stored?
I almost never play anything other than TEC Loyalist (I like a challenge), but I know when an enemy is attacking my starbases what really gets me to sit up and pay attention is a group of Ogrovs or Adjudicators mixed in with the enemy fleet. So if you don't want to just rely on bombers, here's what I would suggest: A carrier fleet of 6-10 units, to start softening up the target and surrounding support structures. A battle fleet with heavy units (preferab
In the file rebellion.user.setting, there is a line: LaggingPlayersToleranceForDropping 500 I am not a modder; I don't even play one on TV. However, this could be the line you would want to change (my guess is that you would want to reduce the number to get the AI to hang on longer, but you would have to experiment to find out). You can probably edit this file in Notepad and then change the extension after you have saved it initially as a .txt file. As al
I am a bit late to this discussion, and RiddleKing summarized it nicely, but the Akkan is an extremely useful capital ship in the early game, and is always my first choice as TEC. After the first level of colonize, I focus on targeting uplink to give me the first shot (or two) in any engagement, as well as increased weapons accuracy. This enables an Akkan with a support fleet to neutralize even the more heavily-defended neutral planets without losses , which is especially
It varies over time, but capital ships (including the Titan) should, in general terms, take up no more than about 30% of your total fleet capacity. It will vary by faction, but as a TEC player there is nothing wrong with 10 capital ships + your Titan when your fleet is fully upgraded. Since so many capital ship capabilities get unlocked at the higher levels, however, it is important that your cap ships survive to get upgraded, so be prepared to retreat to save your caps even if it
