Also, if the new diplomacy options allow, sometimes i don't want to destroy an empire just take a planet or two, but with culture you almost have to.

Are there enemy ships in the area or just a planet? Don't know if that would make a difference.

Alot of times, where i build something is as important as what and when I build it. I'm not sure how often i could or would want to plan production that far ahead.

For a Babylon 5 mod, since it is netural territory maybe have the station in the center of the system instead of a star
i think BSG would work good. Cylons = Pirates But B5 would be the best.
I agree about the announcement when its just a scout. I was thinking about this last night.
I think if you own an entire system you should be able to defend the star.

I don't like the idea of not being able to jump from my homeworld to one of my other planets in another system without going to the sun. It just takes too long.
Ships are too easy to produce. As long as you have the resources and 2 or more light factories per system, you can produce new ships so fast nobody can invade you.
