I'm so excited I think I'll go to sleep. The ultimate bore-o-nator is nearing release.

Because the Advent will not be playable/released/known until the full release of Sins, it is very hard to say. I don't think it will be like you are thinking. I am thinking more of the abilities they have being used in various ways on the ships ... like weapon enhancement, shield reinforcement, and or enhanced (or just different) radar. From the Lore page: Shocking acts of deviancy, at every level of society, violated the venerable taboos common to all t

Well, that weapon is thermobaric too. And by vacuum I would surmised they mean that just about all oxygen is consumed in the area, like a flamethrower. Maybe they're using liquid propane or something. I know that's what I'd use to make a fuel-air bomb. Propane is extremely hot, and can have a third degree burn radius of a thousand feet. The radiant heat for that fuel is really high. <a hr

I had just woken up maybe fifteen minutes before, my Dad having gotten back from New York just the night before. He had gone through the twin towers just the day before. He happened to turn on the television that morning, and we sat in shocked silence over halfway across the country. The realization that not only had my Dad missed a possible death, but that our financial situation fell with the towers was a lingering, almost dooming, feeling. Almost for days I couldn't believe what had actua

Thanks for the answers guys. Good to see you around again, Yarlen. As to activation by email I assume that I can email some sort of code from the offline PC via the online PC, and so then give the needed response once I get a code back? I completely understand the 1:2 ratio; I liked Age of Empires method of 1:3 (or 4, it's been a few years) but that is completely reasonable. I h

Well... sure. Of course. But I might not be able to afford that much. College student and all. (Though I do believe in supporting good developers!)

For me, especially right now, the clincher I am looking for is playing over Lan. I love playing multiplayer strategy games with my family and friends, but sometimes we can't afford the 4 copies that some games want to require you to fulfill. That said I have a few questions on this. 1) Is an internet connection required at all for MP over LAN? I doubt it is, but some studios are kooky. Also, without an internet connection -- installation via archived CD -- how would I go about acti

Don't hold your breath for Infinity. It'll be years and years before it is released at all. You probably won't be able to mod it as you like. It is shaping into a space MMO with a small team and no visible development budget. DFM, you probably should watch your attitude and netiquette. You've caused a sizable threadjack lasting days, when you could have had quicker resolution if you politely asked in your own thread. Threadjacking is very rude in the first place, and then how you d

1 why are we assuming that the only computer is going to be attacking only. wouldn't there also be a computer on the other ship trying to make sure that the enemy fire will miss. Erm ... one problem. The player uses a computer. So really, every order the player gives is executed by the AI in the game. If you're going to make things work one way for the computer's unit AI, then you should for the player. Honestly it does take a bit of processing power. On

This is the problem, this is more than a gimmick, and this should be discussed more! Actually, your scenario is the only non-gimmicked one. Remaining in motion is a gimmick, as is the argument of AI simulated advanced tactics (the three way interaction). Firing directions are hugely important, and if you could efficiently tell units to avoid areas of fire their lifespans would be much longer. Except, of course, if you got shot first. It's like

Then there's the fact that it'll run at full speed on pretty much any PC (except really old ones!), which makes it the perfect game for LAN parties and social play as no-one needs to be left out. Depends on the system, but it hinges on DX9 which could (note, could) be a hindrance to some budget minded, or casual, gamers. Especially if it doesn't use fixed-function pipelines, and uses shaders for unit coloring. That would require Shader 2.0. Maybe I shou

- If accuracy is as accurate as your emphasizing, a ship moving wouldn't significantly reduce its accuracy (as long as the computer can calculate). Never said it would. Processing time is the question, and frankly within twenty years we'll surpass the human brain. By then predictive firing and computer assisted/corrected aim will be child's play. - Ships are either moving towards a certain strategic goal in the area or will mo

When I clicked "features" I got a list of factions and their related articles, not features. I've heard of the publisher, but never the designers. Too much information is "classified." Unless it takes the industry by sudden storm it doesn't look like anything new or innovative. I'll try their demo whenever it comes out, but I won't hold my breath.

A moving target in space is no harder to hit without sudden, erratic movement. That movement would put it at risk of hitting other friendly vessels, their fire, or even space debris. Missiles, lasers, are impossible to miss with in space without the intervention of countermeasures. Kinetic weapons move too fast to miss unless you had poor aim to begin with. Like they wouldn't have computer assisted aim. After reading around the forum checking this game out today I can say this is ea
