Wha? I have a Geforce 8600GTS 256MB, driver version 162.18; so far the drivers have been rock solid, and the card hasn't overheated so much as once when playing Sins. (It did with World in Conflict's demo a few times though.) I wonder why it even hangs there. A pesky shader perhaps? I'll try downing my quality a notch, but I've got a really long game going and that hasn't been touched by the error.

Okay, I reloaded the savegame and it is completely reproducible. Here's what you do: First, move the carrier and the light frigates back under the range of the gauss cannon and build a second next to it. A Kol Cruiser will warp in after ~25 seconds. It will easily be defeated and retreat -- follow it south and shortly after warp it will crash. And I had a really good start too!

Well, the game crashed and produced a dialog, the funny thing is if I focused the game it continued. I alt-tabbed to the dialog and then put the dump and the last autosave together. I really have no idea why it crashed though. You can get the dump and the previous autosave here . And I really had that Sova Carrier getting nasty very early on... 4 squadrons of bombers plus a 20% damage bonus. At least I still have the autosa

I think it's smart as is, though I've never gotten anything at level 2. That is my only quibble. HOWEVER! I love the various things you can discover on a world. I got pure glaciers and entertainment expo on an artic world that really helped it boom.

NO! I got hit with it too, and I had a 25% discount coupon that has since expired... Ah well, I'll just have to write sales after ordering.

My order appears to still be in order so I don't think I'm one of them. It's a bummer that the new beta comes out and folks waiting on preorders get hit with a bug. Ah well, such is programming.

You have to first register the product (Tools > Register Products) and find Sins of a Solar Empire in there and then enter your email address and serial number. First register and then enable pre-release versions (View > Show Pre-release...). Then the item will show up. If you don't have an email with a serial number ... wait for it. They're still processing the queue.

Unfortunately I still have no serial to even begin a download. And I've waited almost 2.5 hours for one already. I hope there's a lot of orders in the queue instead of some glitch keeping me out. (The SD store shows my order as valid...) 2.5 hours plus just to process preorders... man.

It's not a problem unless they charge you and don't give you a serial. THEN it's a problem!

Oh, no wonder they use a token system at TotalGaming.Net! But seriously... I WANNA PLAY!

I wish Sins had blockades like Rebellion. That really put you in a pinch when suddenly a trio of mine worlds was blockaded early on, siphoning almost 300 of your early game maintenance points instantly. I'll settle for a few Liberator cruisers with a full compliment of X-Wings, plus a Dauntless and some more X-Wings and a few B-Wings too. ISD? Space dust more like... I betcha they're going to release it on the 21st. It works perfectly since that's my birthday. <img src

Lost my reply so I won't bother retyping it all. Just bear in mind I've not been forthcoming in information about myself, so how could you possibly know anything of me? Anyway. I've not had reason to unhide such folders since I just make them visible, and I have made shortcuts to them (a while ago, fyi), but my problem solved itself with an unknown change I made shortly after the whole issue appeared. But I also never accessed the folder afterwards, so I never knew. (Never had a reason, and

There's is absolutely nothing we can do about it. At least so long as you want a GFW certification you can't. It also means you have to use MicroSoft's half-baked version of Installer 3.0 -- the one that requires you keep source files for all eternity or else there's no uninstall for you. (At least not the easy way....)

80 Replies 16,760 Views

Mmmm, no, that one is hidden too. Want a screenshot? And, that one is where SecuROM and all the other DRM packages hide their stuff. GPG goes into local settings for its files and it is GFW certified; CnC 3 goes to just App Data. I don't know which is right, but both are a bad choice for placing user accessible files. And yeah, I have all hidden files visible on my PC; I don't care what MS or XP says.

80 Replies 16,760 Views

ta_erog: you are missing my point. This "special" directory resides in this folder, on XP: C:\Documents and Settings\(user)\Local Settings\Application Data The last two are hidden folders. Yes, you hide the very data you want accessible within a hidden system folder . This isn't the "My Documents" directory you seem to think it is; half the time my explorer session crashes when I hit the Local Settings\ Application Data after staying somewhere within for about 2 minutes.

80 Replies 16,760 Views

Honestly, I don't mind where the files are put, so long as I can get at them. And no this doesn't contradict what I said earlier. I can't get at files in my Application Data directory because something concerned with DRM causes explorer (the process) to crash each and every time I linger in that directory for longer than a few seconds. So, I go to grab screenshots from SupCom and *BOOOOOM* my computer crashes. Gee, that's a lot of fun! Let's do it again! <img src="http://images.sta

Agreed. Haha, maybe pagination by page length? I tried Gran Paradiso (3 Alpha 7) and it seems to have taken a step backwards in the Alpha. Hopefully they'll get this sort of thing fixed.

Well, no resolution but by my testing only testcase 3 failed, and that was approximately twice as better as reported when the testcase was written. (1600+ rather than 819) You don't need to change the overflow setting or set it at all with the way your layout is designed though, so that is basically aggravating the problem. I'll test it out with FF3 and see if there's any improvement... Your block probably would render better if you removed the overflow-y line.[code="css"].Body_Outte

LOL! Anyone tried validating that page? No wonder Firefox can't show it! 900 errors! W3C Validator Results... That's 900 versus some 89 separate errors on a normal forum page. Browsers are only so much error tolerant, and IE thinks it is the only correct way to make web

Uh, Brian? Is there a restriction that there cannot be the option of relocating the read/write directory to a user specified location? If it is the user's choice then Micro$haft has no choice, which I like. And please tell me you're using something OTHER than MS install 3.0!! (With MS install 3 you must retain source installers for all installed products or no uninstall for you.)

I decided to preorder two days ago, and part of what helped sway me was Multianna's videos and asking a few multiplayer questions. Sins is reminiscent of Rebellion with its balance between resources, maintenance, and a bit of CnC-esque credits. I love the idea of setting bounties on people.... I can't wait for beta 3! I hope it comes out within the next week or so as predicted. The sooner the better!
