I try to max out my ship tactical point usage first before I build defenses like hangers etc. The only things I build fairly quickly are acouple upgrades to the planet health so that someone cant just jump in and destroy the planet in a minute. 3000-4500 health give you time to get a fleet somewhere to defend it if it fleet is farther away getting a new planet or something.

not sure but the higher the number the better ;-)
I can play a 10 hour large map and not even realize Ive been playing for 10 hours lol. I think the game pacing makes really sucks you in, especially when everything is new to you.
Get defenders ASAP and add them to your fleet. 5-10 defenders in any fleet will pretty much take out most of their fighter/bombers and LRMs etc. If all they have all LRMs and you have a mix of defenders/disciples/LRMs you will win no doubt.
Question is same as title, if you get all the game accomplishments -100%- can you unlock anything cool or interesting? Or do you just pat yourself on the back? lol
The graphics are good and I even lag quite a bit in 200 vs 200 battles when viewing them in close with maxed graphics settings. I have a good system ddr 3 1333 ram core 2 3.0 ghz 8800gt 512 etc. So the graphics arent too bad. I think some bloom effects and maybe HDR could help it look better?
Losing a capital ship is devastating in the early game. If you can take out their capital by focusing on it it is worth it.
Come on guys, after playing a large map for 11 hours to win all I get is a YOU WIN! lol.... We deserve some kind of cool cinematic or something a little more pleasant than a YOU WIN ending =) Im not asking for a 2 hour feature length film but at least a few minutes of a race-specific animation or film with some cool effects etc would be nice. I will add however that I love the game replay function which allows me to view all the battles I fight in all the detail I want graphical
A research tech that allows you to pass through black holes into a negitive universe and come out a white hole that has infinitie energy! Then you can conquer crazy aliens using the white hole as your source of power in this strange new universe (some people think that black holes think to white holes in other realities, so this is based on science! I'm not just making it up!)
Where you watching the Discovery channel a couple days ago lol? They had some programs on black
I think defenses are more to give you time to send a fleet somewhere to defend it and less to allow you to win a battle just from your defenses alone, although they certainly help a good bit when your fleet actually gets there combined witht he defenses aiding it.
I dont quite exactly 'get' bombers and fighters. What do fighters attack best and what do bombers attack best exactly? Is there a certain ratio that is 'best' to use when building squadrons in your planetary defense hangers or carrier ship/capital ship hangers? From what I understand fighters are good for attacking scout vessels and lighter frigates like disciples and also LRM frigates and bombers are good for hitting cruisers of all kinds and capital ships?
Awesome, I really like this game because it is simple yet complex and very fun! =)
You are basically at war with everyone until you can get a cease fire going. It would be nice if you had to actually declare war on AI civs before you started slugging it out with them. I think having everyone start out attacking eachothers scouts etc automatically and basically having to kill the first AI player you see is not that great and contributes more to the 'just kill them all and win' focus of the game making it more like a big RTS slugfest instead of a mix of 4x space strategy
Anyone else have the problem where you start a game half-heartedly and then cant stop playing? I think it is the pacing of the game and all the things you need to do to expand/research/build etc. It is hard to stop playing once you start! =)
Its impossible to go around them in my game because they are a choke point between 2 halves of the map basically. So I am gonna have to just sit there for a while until I max everything out to try to take them out.
There is this pirate home asteroid and they have 19 defense platforms , 100 of 2 types of ships and 50 of 2 other types and 30 or so of 2 others so around 360 ships. I attacked them with around 7 capital ships 30 cruisers or so and 40 frigates. Well my ships just got totally raped and I barely killed 50 of the pirate ships total. This attack cost me 10s of thousands of credits and resources and like 600 command points to support. How the hell are you supposed to kill these pirates? Th
I think its time for me to go take a minidump lol.
So here I am playing a 1 vs 1 against the computer and hordes upon hordes of 50+ pirate ships keep destroying all of my planets.... like wtf wouldnt they have to have like 10 planets themselves to support all those ships? And their ships are all stronger than mine.... lol... This game is ridiculous with the pirates.
Well the button looks like a part of the graphics I didnt look all the way down to notice it really.
Ya I just saw the button woops. Now the game REALLY is good lol...
I bought this game via Stardock and installed it from a digital download. When I was reading the manual on my computer it shows a lot more single player maps in a screenshot than I actually have with the game when I go to single player? Do maps get unlocked or something as you win certain maps in single player or what is going here? I have no maps that have over 3 players in the single player so If I want to make a 6 player or 8 player game etc I have to make all the maps myself
Are there any game replays anywhere that work with 1.03? I would like to watch a few just to see the game working but unfortunately my game was auto patched to 1.03 and I cant watch anything... are there any available for 1.03? I think a recorded game converter should be released or something because this is bullsh1t that we lose game function because we 'updated'.
Thanks a lot I didnt think it was hidden I was going crazy!
Where do you put the multiplayer record files to watch them in movie replay in game? Im using windows vista..in what folder do you put the files in? I installed the game to d:\stardock\...(gamedirs) on my system.
