BTW I'm currently doing the same with SINs. Although I've already bought the full package (incl diplomacy), I first want to learn to master the original game.

I have the gold version, but want to start with the original to get to learn the new game concepts before I introduce more elements with the expansions. Any suggestions for interesting mods? What about the galciv2 type of mod in one of the expansions?
@ DrJBHL Thanks a lot for your advise. I'm going to read those articles. I like an e-reader though since it has a long battery life and has the special technology which reduces eye strain.
I second the point on the need to not forget the players who got the snowball running. I still play the original dread lords game (I like the fact that it has less features), even though I also own Dark Avatar. I´ve some concerns regarding TA since I read that many people think that the game is not really ready yet/balanced, is that correct? Brad, if you have a look at the pro strategy advise on the galciv2wiki it says that it optimal to use fleet configurations to win battles t
"CIV IV is the best game ever made!" I"m playing at the moment. I must stay it is very good. However, I'm not sure if I like it more than galciv2 or Sins. I think there's even more micromanagement involved than in Galciv2. NOt only building improvements of cities, but there's a lot more to think about. I like the way the game is polishd and how diplomacy is taken care of. I only hope that the AI in Distant Words will be as good as in Civ4 and Galciv2.
"it's gameplay that I care about." I also prefer gameplay to graphics.
What's wrong with this forum?
Hi, I would advise all of you to have a look at this exciting new space 4x rts game. It is called Distant Words and will be released soon. The concept is very cool and it seems very easy to play. Check out the videos! The website is: http://www.codeforce.co.nz/ Distant Worlds - Overview Distant Worlds is a vast, real-time, 4X space strategy game. Explore the ga
@ Yarlen and the other developers: Thanks a lot! Keep up the good work on the RTS of the century! I hope you don't take all the negative reactions too seriously. While balancing the game is important, most players play it only single player. Therefore fixing this is not as important as improving the AI in my opinion.
"We're toying with the idea of making it so that when you attack a faction, you also incur a negative military action penalty with all of that person's allies. Look for it in the next public build." Great. Love it that you take into account the feedback! Beta testers, how does the AI's diplomacy compare to other rts/tbs you know?
Any beta player that can say if diplomacy in Sins is (already) better than in Galciv2?
Great I am looking forward to this game. I hope it will be better than Armada 2526. The details are still a bit vague though (how much will it be like a 4x and how does it differ from Galciv2?). Any details on the release date or the possibility of a demo?
Is there a game with a single player experience like EVE?
Great that there's still so much discussion about this game. Hopefully the developers are following it as well.
Interesting and useful post, would be nice to have something printable once the discussion has settled.
I don't mind, any expansion/follow up would be great!
Strength & Honour 2 Looks very promising, but also quite similar to the Total War games, but then with lower graphics. How does it compare? @Wirespeed91: Thanks for your explanation. Is there any diplomacy in this game? Or is it only fighting?
Thx does anyone have experience with both games?
What can anybody say about AI War - Fleet Commander? Did anyone try it? How is it different from Sins (except that Sins is 3d of course)?
I would be in favour of another micro expansion with an additional race + perhaps some AI improvements.
Thank you very good! As a suggestion, wouldn't it be logical that 2 players of the same race are more likely to have a better relationship? So that they would get a small bonus? Something similar to the evil and good traits in galciv2.
@Darvin 3 and @jonfon: thanks for the good insights and strategy tips Where can you find info about the dps (damage per second) of each ship?
Whoohoo. I have bought the expansion, but haven't played it yet. I'm still learning the orginal game. But I'm happy I already bought it as a way of supporting the expansion's development. I hope they improve it even further before releasing it. Frogboy said: "ea, the AI isn't always as intelligent as I'd like" Does this mean that AI will be improved?
Distant Worlds seems promising. I plan to follow it. Any news on when it is expected to be released?
