in the card, at the bottom, it says things like "cant jump" or "damage reduced" or "damage retaliation" or "repairing hull X HP/sec" and things like that... its weird it isn't showing in your screencap. The AI is retared when using abilities... it takes some experimenting to learn what needs to be set on auto, on what needs to be left off, or when to set things to auto... (set ion bolt to manual, when chasing an enemy capital ship that is dying set it to auto, as it can cast it much qui

the reason you sustained such heavy losses is because you let the pirates "win" ... every 15 minutes the pirates spawn a new fleet out of thin air. (try being in their planet when the timer runs out). When the pirates clear out a planet of all ships and structures they will stop bombing the planet (if it is still alive) and jump back to their home base and be added to the defenses... that is why they were so powerful there. 1. Why didn't you sent the pirates after him? 10k
creative drivers are beyond atroicious. They are calling themselves creative LABS for a reason... they make excellent hardware, they just don't make good PRODUCTS, because they can't be bothered to make drivers for that hardware.
yap.. That is a pretty accurate totem pole. Also since those rankings were made a geforce 9 midrange card "9600GT" was released... it sits between an AMD HD3870 and Geforce 8800GT in performance, but has a few new features as far as video playback, open GL 2.1 support, etc... And is very cheap. Probably the best bang for the buck card in the world right now. The rest of the GF9 series is coming out march. And AMD is slashing prices in response. The nice thing about that ranking
I am almost certain the reason is that it runs out of vram, instead of paging to regular ram (which should kill your performance) it crashes. I notced all crashes ended when I upgraded to a 512MB card... specifically from a 7900GS to a 8800GTS 512MB However, before upgrading I handled it by leaving the quality on very high, but disabling ALL the effects (skyboxes, bloom, etc) as well as AA
I let the pirates attack me as a handicap mechanism... Used against the AI = easy win. I have done it a couple of times, one time I saw wounded enemy ships flying around, so I jump to his home system and find the pirates there blowing up his last buildings and the planet health at 2000/6000 while its still being bombed, the pirates broke the enemy fleet and it escaped in tatters and they were bombing his homeworld to dust! Pirates also SCALE by how much you bid. If you don'
1. Culture is a money modifier. If a planet has 56% culture that means you are getting 56% of the credits, metal, and crystal it produces. Get it up to 80% and you will get 80% of what it produces! 2. Culture gives bonuses. Extra damage for vasari, extra antimatter for tec, and extra something I forgot for advant. So by spreading culture you both give your fleets the bonus, AND deny it to the enemy. 3. Culture can overwhelm a planet making it neutral (aka, uncolonized). 4. Culture ca
elements: Silver, gold, iron, hydrogen, etc... used in manufacturing molecules: Plastics, water, etc. used in manufacturing and consumption. Also, finished products, art, rugs, baskets, etc... anything that is handmade by artists. Also, high quality goods. Computers, guns, etc. Just like in the US today I can buy an american made smith and wessen, an israeli desert eagle, a russian AK47 (well I could if machine guns were legal here :P). Foods c
you have to understand that capital ships are more durable, but lower DPS then frigates and MUCH lower then cruisers... Get 30 attack cruisers in there and they will SHRED the pirates. each capital ship is 50 logistics and 1 captain... each attack cruiser is 10 logistics. So you get 5 of those or 1 capital ship. They cost 500-600 credit plus a good amount of metal and crystal. And they each have about 2/5th the health and 1/2 the damage of a single capital ship. So 5 of them do trem
See... the vasari were conquering most of the galaxy when suddenly their home planet went silent... then other planets... they sent fleets and nothing was heard... they recalled their ENTIRE fleet from the ENTIRE galaxy and sent it to the last planet to be lost... ONE ship returned... falling apart, with the crew insane... So a SINGLE COLONY packed up and made a run for it (treason?)... and they have been running since... Supposedly all the others are gone. They also did not have access to A
Ok... what game have you been playing? Practically every race has technologies allowing support frigates and cruisers to: 1. Drain antimatter, crippling enemy capital ships 2. repair 3. do extra damge 4. Take less damge.. In addition a 10% boost to HP or armor or whatever is MASSIVE when you look at a fleet of 50+ ships.. your problem is that you are playing the AI, and at small scale, and I bet you have limited yourself to capital ships, who are much weaker the
if anything the "unrealistic" thing is the general market... who the hell is selling all the metal or crystal if not space empires? I mean, we are at war and everything is under control... is it stolen or what? Anyways forcing a person to buy above value still means he pays less, because the price increases as purchases are made from the general market. I had no idea it worked this way, this is delicious. I got another weapon in my already impressive arsenal.
mmm. typically I am weary of a back stab, while it might be a bit easier to backstab, its risky, because it can end up as a dogpile, and you are the dog. I find it much easier to crush the enemies together and then when its just me and allies finish them off. I also make sure I can come down on a backstabbing "ally" if needed. Its not out of hate or anger, but out of principle... I deter backstabing by prioritizing backstabbers, its a threat and a promise... But I wouldn't be mad at the
only 4? I won a game through culture.. I had 2-4 broadcast towers PER PLANET. 40 towers will flip their homeworld faster then you think.
So... yea... I got the space ponies achivement, yay. From what I Read you just need to keep searching planets until you find it... about time too cause it took 13 wins to find it. But I didn't even notice I found it when I did... what does it do? that is, does it give a planetary bonus like penal colony/roiders outpost/tundra farms/etc... does it even list it on the planet it was found on? cause I KNOW I did not have it two wins ago (I have a checklist that I update as I go along, and eac
so anyone have an idea on how to get space ponys? i know its a refrence to a old beta thread about a third faction...Fourth.You just find them while exploring planets, just like artifacts or other random goodies.
Is there a special notification when you do so? I would hate to miss out on it. Also, is it a specific map or random?
Same here, and I did it with the advant so I made sure to research the increase to max culture, and relocate my home world for max coverage... The only thing I can think of is: 1. Its a bug 2. It requires a galaxy above a certain size that is not specified. This is really frustrating, I am at 74% done with achievements and I don't want to get stuck on this one... that being said... It would probably take a few more days for some of the more difficult achievements...
I don't understand the problem... why would you buy it at a store? Buy it directly from stardock... firstly they make a LOT more money from a direct purchase. Secondly, you don't need the CD either way, once your key is linked you can download it as much as you want, forever. Thirdly, if you want the collector's edition stuff/physical CD/box/manual/etc, just pay for shipping and they will send it to you.
I have been trying to get the pop idol achivement which requires me to "spread your culture to 75% of the galaxy"... But I can't seem to do it. I have played and won influence based games and even though I had max influence everywhere this achivement will not unlock. The advant didn't help either. So what am I doing wrong? what am I missing in acquiring that achievement?
i dont really care for any of those ideas. Planets CAN fight back... you just have to know how to build them up... Good luck to someone who tries to break through my 23 turrets and a repair station. And thats on astroid... planets are even more well defended. fighter bases take way too much tactical slots and are just not worth it... they give you flexibility, but at a terrible price. Rarely I will use them, but normally there are better choices. These kind of stacking defenses
first and formost. A colony frigate looses lots of antimatter when it jumps. So you have to wait a few minutes for it to colonize a planet once its there.. it is also slow. So a colonizer capital would instantly colonize, giving you an extra 5 minutes or so on the planet. In addition they each provide benefits. The advant gives you a 20/40/60% dicount to cost of buying structures. If you researched dousing then you can end up with free planetary exploration. The vasari
You just said yourself "they will not colonize and just spam ships, so to counter you need to spam ships yourself until they are destroyed and then walk over them because you have more economic power" Congratulations. you discovered strategy. Balancing your fleet size and economy is crucial. There is nothing wrong going on here. There is absolutely no "fix" needed. If an enemy throws everything he has into building a massive initial fleet to overwhelm you he isn't "ruining the
do we have a person with a quad core extreme to host the game?
I am in...
Highly unlikely, as unlike ocean ships, Ships in space have to worry about things BELOW and above them as well. Rather than just left and right on the ocean. Since you have to mount engines SOMEWHERE on a ship, it makes sense to make a back and a front... so I imagine we'll have ships that forward-orient for a LONG time to come. (Or until someone manufactures a frictionless drive or something, then we can have circular ships with guns and all around coverage...)
Nothing b
