I think the main thing is that the Cruisers need some boost in firepower. Why not put a few autocannon turrets on a cruiser or two. Why only the Kol? I like the cobalt the way it is, just give it kinetic weapons. I think Lore wise the TEC have too many laser based weaponry for a race of low tech traders. Tho not TEC related the pirates should get a few custom ships to make them stand out. Sometimes I think their just another empire trying to kill me until I take a close look.
The Original Marza may not look as good as the new one, but had better firepower.
I understand that their civilian ships that have undergone refits, but why only put on pop guns for cruisers. If the TEC are in such a desperate situation that they are facing a two front war. Does it make sense to put only low level weapons on a cruiser? And I understand that we need to balance with the other races, but so far things aren't looking so good. The only major problem so far that I see other then the ocassional bug is ship design. You created this interesting back story, and for the TEC it seams that their fighting this uphill battle. I have to agree with Nickname, cruisers really need some boost in firepower to make them a usefull fielding warship. I understand that in the sins universe that the commanders of cruisers don't get in the "dirty" work. But lets just say that the 2nd in command shot the captain and ordered upgrades.... Its worth a try. Also if the game goes in that route, maybe the pirates could recieve a few unique ships in the cruiser class that could be for sale or "rent". Giving races the option to purchase Combat Oriented Cruisers.
If you are going to rename the class don't call them Support Cruisers, just call them Support Ships. Support Cruiser still implies a high level combat vessel. The new question I do have is: Is their a 4th class of ships to be introduced in the future? Giving the Capital class factory another build menu.

I understand the units are supposed to fit certain roles Blair, the only problem is that one would think Cruiser's are supposed to be a little more effective in combat than a frigate. I don't know if this makes sense but here is my take on the issue. Frigates - Very specialized roles: Such as combat, fighter defense, colonization etc... Cruisers - More powerful specialized ships: Good at combat but also have a few abilities. Battleships - A truly multi-role specialized

Well the general opinion is that the Carrier and Command Cruiser need an increase in firepower. So yeah, either extra squadron or flack guns for the Carrier. And either a massive boost in firepower and better cool-down for the Command Cruiser, or pop a few Auto Kinetic Turrets on it.

Cruisers need some "upgrades", I find it a little disconcerting that cruisers can have a tough time dealing with frigates. A cruiser is a notable step up from a frigate, this should be paramount. The Cruisers firepower should be increased. The Carrier, should be given another squad but make it a bit more expensive. The Repair Cruiser just needs a bit of a boost in shields and firepower.
