I like to play on maps with lots of stars with few planets on them, and the fleet caps do seem rather limiting on those maps, even with the big fleets option. When you pretty much have to build a fleet for every star you own, your forces can get thinned out quickly. In a way that is not so bad because it forces you to think about tactics and strategy more, but at the end of the day this is a game with only one victory option(the military one) and it gets difficult to defend your systems and buil

From what I understand there is some sort of galaxy version value that you have to change from 0 to 1 before those files will work post patch, but I have no idea how to do that.
How do you change the version number of a galaxy file?
I blame the virgins!
In most games that I have played, when you update the game you can still play the old games but they won't have the features of the new patch. I guess I shouldn't have assumed anything but it was still disheartening to see that I could no longer play an epic game that I had been playing for a couple of weeks. I was pissed for a while. Then I started playing a new game and got over it. lol
Unfortunately I downloaded the game, and it looks like Stardock automatically downloads the most recent version. That sucks. Like I said I've been playing the game for a couple of weeks now and it was just starting to reach a turning point.
I have a large scale ongoing game that I've been playing for a couple of weeks now, but I cannot play in anymore after installing the patch. I understand that an old game would not have the changes from the patch taking effect in the game, but I did not expect that I wouldn't even be able to open games started with version 1.02! Is there a way of reverting back to version 1.02 or to make the save file compatable with the new patch? Thanks.
I use the extra crystal to buy that second civil research station so I can go right for the trade post tech and start earning some credits.
Are any of you using mutliple monitors? I have found that I sometimes have that problem when I am using both of my monitors, but the problem goes away when I deactivate my secondary one.
OK I'll set up a game right now. If nobody shows up I'll just take away the password and have an open enrollment.
I'd like to start around 8pm eastern.
Are there any plans for a multiplayer skirmish mode(fleet vs fleet battles)? This would resolve many of the issues some people have with finding enough time to play a full multiplayer game online.
"Turrents can only be built on the default plane, and it seems possible to get up high enough so that they can't shoot you." I don't think that is the case. I've built a number of turrets lined up in a row and they were at different levels on the z plane.
Anyone interested in a game tonight at 8pm let me know! I'm thinking player team vs hard AI team, but I'm open to suggestions. edit: Well it looks like nobody is interested. I'll try again for Friday night. If anyone is interested post your interest in this thread and I'll PM you the password!
I just learned how to make my own maps with the Galaxy Forge tool so I've been playing around with that. ;) Tonight's not good for me but I am hoping to start up another game during the week. I'm thinking Tuesday.
I think those are the easiest setting you will get. Try searching the forums for some good starting strategies. That helped me alot, along with playing with people who were alot better than me. also some good players post record files of their games, you can use these to see the strategies some of these players use. Some simple hints, don't expand too fast too soon(give yourself time to build up planet infrastructure before moving on to the next one), build two commercial research platforms righ
Skirmish mode and dual monitor support!
I was playing around in the map editor.....if you make many stars with no planet types on them, you get about 6 planets per star, and if you make the map size as big as you can make it, when you zoom out you don't see the galaxy effect. I just made a ten star map with 60 planets total and it looks like it might be kind of like what many of you are looking for.
I would also like to see more stars with less planets. It would be more realistic. Maybe I'll go in to the map editor and make myself a map like that........
Skirmish mode for multiplayer would be great! I'm sure I'm not the first to bring it up but after a quick skim of the boards I didn't see any posts on the topic so I thought I'd bring it up. A nice quick and easy multiplayer mode where each player gets a set amount of points to build a fleet and then you just have at it, either at a planet or in open space. Are there any plans for something like this in a future patch? It would be a great option for when you got a Sins fix but don't want to spen
Surviver. Bleh. But; to each his own.
Well I did warn you it was worse than watching Lost! But anyway, that was a good game we finished up last night. A bit easy though I'd say. Maybe next time we can go for hard AI or player vs player. I'll post here on the forum when I'm planning on hosting another game.....maybe this weekend or something.
OK see you then.
No, it's worse than that. I go to a friend's house to watch Survivor. After having a kid it's the only night of the week that I can routinely get away. ;) Since we only got about an hour left in the game, I'd like to push our start time back to 8:30 if that's cool.
OK so I guess we'll leave it up to whatever night works best for Joe. Once he states a preference we'll set it up.
Joe and Bhruic.......I can resume our game tonight, Tuesday night or Wednesday night. Basically any night except Thursday. So let me know which nights are best for you and we'll try and set it up!
