So IronLore, SirTech, SEK, Shiny and Black Isle (just examples) made bad games? Really? I think you oversimplify the matter.
Black Isle was a perfect example. I loved Baldurs Gate, Icewind Dale, Fallout, etc. but the last four games they made were bad to awful. Dark Alliance 1&2, Brotherhood of Steel. and one other fallout spinoff that I can't even remember anymore. Plus being a small developer, that had trouble upgrading the graphics of

They added a new entrenchment movie. Its like all of 5 seconds but I know it wasn't there before.
Also windows firewall and your router firewall can block updates, while letting you d/l stuff. When I turned them off, np. Turn them back on afterwards.
I think some of their propaganda is effective. Look at the music industries reversal after the last decade of fighting a losing war. I purchase games because I support the vision of the developer. Game developers have never gone down because a great game had poor sales (unless the publisher screwed the advertising which happens a lot, example: Nexus, Hegemonia, Age of Wonders, X3:Reunion, Dungeon Keeper 2), but because they made a flop and nobody bought it. T
From what I have been told, most of the economic/espionaeg stuff you mentioned is supposed to be the next mini expansion. Some of your other suggestions are probably beyond the engine capability to track. This game is already at the very edge of its graphics ability. Altough with the inhierit upgrade to processing the I7 chips are bringing to the table, SoaSE 2 will probably be very intense.
I still think that the Kosutra is still the most powerful weapon. 4-5 shots will leave everything in orbit with 100 health and now my fleets are not taking damage if they are in the same grav well when its hit. + starbase shields are usually stripped which means it falls quick to just 3 cap ships. Sure blowing away a colony is cool and all, but you still have to deal with the defenses which can be tough against a good player. Thats why I think sabotage
Was I worng or did they say that they were releasing a campaign? Cause I did not get one with entrenchment.
Actually its funny that Publishers are now trying to copy pirates. Now you have to have special software to download their games. It usually requires an account. NO CD is needed. And the price of computer games has stayed very stable, unlike the huge price hikes that consoles are getting. $70, puleeeease!!!
well first they need to actually scale the threat level with bounty size currently i mean if it gets to the highest setting it just stays there even if the all bounty is depleted (unless they changed that recently) as for the other stuff id still like to have something that lets me use money to kill my opponents directly
The pirates are supposed to fulfill that role, but....
Although its also one per player in a grav well, and I had my allies build theres in my grav well. It gave me 3 at a major junction which was awesome. The AI upgrades are awesome.
So now the war has been raging for ten years and the defenses are getting so thick that the war is going to stagnate. Fleets will get chewed to shreds by capable defensive opponents. A few systems will trade hands but the lines will stabilize. So where do we go from here. More defenses, copying of technology from each other? I think the next expansion should include espionage, getting planets without having to use a fleet. Piracy will no longer pay as the areas
I am surprised at how few developers use each others engines to makes games. The modding community for free takes a game engine and then goes and makes some truly staggering changes. I have played games that were fantasy rts's turned into space rpg's. These are usually 5 guys working on their spare time over the course of 2 years. They may use a few extra people for art changes but there usually aren't more than a couple that do the core modding. So if a few gifted people

This is always the way things go. Casualties: Westwood Black Isle Sierra (Exists in name only) Bullfrog CaveDog Accolade Team Ninja (just to show consoles are not immune) many many more... The benefit? These developers get to join companies with huge budgets and get to make one lack luster game clone after another. They learn the ins and outs of creating the impressive game engines and then they break off to form new development groups as t
I did not have a single problem running the game at the highest graphic setting and the highest resolution. E6600 8800 GTX 4 Gigs Ram The gameplay did seem even more basic than Dungeon Siege. The game actually reminded more of the original Fallout than Crusader. The customization and weapon selection with bionic enhancements really reminded me of Syndicate. That's one of my all time favorite games. I can see the potential in this game. I think the demo di
There a few games that do not work in Vista like a charm... Empires at War: FoC punishes you for having more than 3 gigs of RAM in vista Fortunately the fan base has addressed these issues although developers still seem to be slow about supporting vista. Some have even refused to do so, stating that why should they work on problems for only a small part of their fan base. Disgraceful but makes business sense I suppose. If you do not have a minimum of a dual core, 4 gigs o
I really liked Nexus. It takes you through the game with only a handful of ships that you have to carefully upgrade and add new ones as you can afford them before each mission. Still looks good even though its a few years old. The ultimate 4X/Sim game is X3: Reunion. The Fans made a 200pg manual to really teach you how to play. It has an extremely high learning curve and the story is completely uninteresting, but more like a tutorial on how to play. But for building up a trade or b
With the Advent, use 5 hangers fully kitted with 2 repair stations and 2 fixed defense. Also use several carrier cruisers in your key systems. Usually with about 12 bomber squadrons and another 8 fighter squadrons in each key system will wipe out even the heaviest attacks or give you enough time to respond if it is a truly massive fleet. The PJI is very helpful in this situation and will allow you to take out another 5-10 frigates when they try to run. Nice thing about hangers, if yo
