the Feburary issue of PC gamer, there were articles about how the latest hardware requirements are the main factors that motivate new breakthroughs in game mechanics. Well Sins are a counter example to that. If you guys are interested, try to get a hold of that issue, it discusses how different games from RTS, RPG, FPS, etc, all requiring the latest and the best rigs garner the most industry awards and awarding player with stunning graphical and playing experiences. Examples cited a

besides incurring economic peanlty and nerfing damages for superweapons, also, have a significant range reduction, maybe it can only fire two jumps away, or increase in range comes in increase in resource costs, each phase lane that it can fire over will cost 10000 in cash, 3000 in crystals and 5000 in metals.

I know the game just came out less than a month ago, and for many of us who have waited for this game from way back when...all have know that there will be strong distinctive possibility that an expansion will be come out in a year or so for this great game. Sooo...what would you all like to see for a future expansion. Examples would be: more different units, different superweapons more races campaign mode more special abilities different types of planetary in

can we stickied this thread. Please, so that it is easier to find. Because there are multiple threads regarding upcoming 1.03 patch. And..for 1.03, can we see more diplomacy options like giving players ships or giving them planets. Also, make the superweapons for TEC less powerful or make it more costly for them to build and use. Just find some ways that non TEC players can make it easier for them to defend against. Also, likewise with the Varsrai and their Dark fleet special

Sins is more a RTS than a 4x at times, or you can make it completely making it an RTS, just played against multiple AI players all with locked teams with no allies. On the RTS side of things, it is more of a RTS simply it forces you to consider how to make a fleet together and how to use all you various ships special abilities to attack cohesively. Otherwise, it will be a waste of resources for building all those ships. The other thing is, there is a z-axis movement, you have to assi

May i suggest playing with lock teams enabled and having at least 2 AIs as your allies. The Ais will either be busy fighting each other or fighting your allies while you sit back and develop your research and economies.

I think it would be good if there are more aspects to planet development aspects of the game, like managing of morals due to taxes, and continuous warfare. Also, there should be some visible effects on a planet's population by having either more tactical structures vs. logistical structures. A lot of my friends including myself thinks that many aspects of 4x in have been too much simiplified to the point that it lacks depth. We were comparing it to Galciv2 and the Civ series and are really wo

Well anyone played Spellforce, well it is a blend of both RTS and RPG. Sins is both a 4x and a RTS, as to which side it leans towards more, that is a matter of opinion and what additional criteria one puts onto being a RTS or a 4x type game. And to the previous poster who suggested that Sins has not much strategy to it other than LRM spams. I humbly disagree. There are different strategies to the game, inlcuding many different type of spamming, but there are also counter strategies a

I am still learning to play the advent well. I get my ass kicked because of big fleet spams by one of the enemies AI, he was fighting with one of my allies for a planet next door. My allies has lots of weak ships but did not manage to keep hold on the planet. After that, the AI came for me, and i was toasted after 5 minutes of battle. :(

Look at what happened to starcraft, sins could take off like starcraft, it might not be on that scale, but even on half that scale, it would mean a lot for Ironclad, and also for the 4x genere market. Since the most popular 4x game is the Civ series, and the space version of that is GalCiv. But Galciv is still new compare with Civ

I think the imbalance issues can be helped with your ai allies responding to your request for help promptly. I don't claim this will be a complete solution, but at least it is a start. When one gets swarmed, and your planet is almost been grind to dust, and your allies have like 200 ships idly standing by 2 systems away, you ask for help, and it takes its sweet time. That type of allies are lousy to rely upon.

I am curious, will there be a complete Chinese translated version for Sins. Civ 4 is a hit amongst the asian demographics, I think Sins will be too. After all, it has many extremely addictive gameplaying elements, and very fun multiplayers

starcrafts units are the same in the sense that for every unit, there is a counter to that unit, i have posted this before in this same thread. In a sense, starcraft is like playing chess. And truth be told, does it really matter if the races are the same or not when you are playing the game as long as you are having fun. Let's not dissect this game the way we dissect a piece of work in a english lit class. Many people bought the game to have fun, including myself, not buy it then apply lite

I think the only thing that matters is that how the game was executed overall in its design regardless if the races are the same or not. And if players have fun with the game as a result of game execution. The special techs are different for each races and even though the basic units are the same for all three races, it is easier done this way for consistency and belivability, and easier for game balancing issues. The devs could have made it like starcraft, for every unit and a given best str

I don't know if this is possible in the current build of the game, but if it isn't, i would like to see it to be added in the next patch. It would be nice for players to give their AI allies missions to complete with specific targets to be destroyed, just like the way that allies ask players to complete missions for them in certain alloted amount of time.

It would be cool if we can put bounties on pirates, and also have pirates factions, so that we can get the pirates to turn on against each other. :D This way we can have poetic justice from humans to the AI.

I forgot about IGN, but i think they are both popular amongst gamers as far as being a trusted sources about various aspects of gaming. PC gamer in one of their latest issues, in a response to one of the letters sent to them regarding whether they play a game throughly before penning a review, they said yes, unless it is a MMO, in which case they play it until they have a good feeling for the game.
