Fleet Admirals in that vein were actually best explored in Conquest:Frontier Wars. They had their own custom ships and special abilities iirc. They were intended to be semi-autonomous and capable of being tasked with things like 'defend this system' in order to free up the player. They were reasonably competent but AI being AI it was still better for the player to take direct control of micromanagement. What I would do with Fleet Admirals in SINS would be give them the abil

IgnusDei is/was active in the Homeworld community, resemblance to Homeworld's art style is probably not coincidental. Especially bearing in mind Ironclad's roots in Barking Dog Studios.
it's $30 upgrade and $40 standalone. Kinda steep...
The mandator model is bugged. It will always crash the game, there is no workaround. Well you could change the model to something else, but in that case you might as well build Praetors.
Any purely singleplayer game you could run on a large number of computers by using offline mode. However, this can get clumsy after a while. And eventually of course your son would want his own Steam account anyway (for Friends/Community even if he shares your taste in games), so buying 'his' games on your account is problematic in that respect.
Steam's customer support ranges from good to nonexistent, depending on the issue. They do not offer tech support for any games; you have to contact the original company. They - in theory - have a blanket no-returns policy, but people have received refunds on a case-by-case basis by contacting Steam support. Steam has an excellent friends/community system which is integrated inside many games offered on Steam. Most games also support the Steam overlay, which offers access to
Steam is very reliable. Direct2Drive used to be good, but then they moved to a weird system and I stopped buying from them. Recently I've heard they've gotten better, but eh. Once burnt, twice shy.
TheRezonator: Ships will waste very little damage on a ship about to destroyed. They are aggressive about this; it is possible (though rare) for ships to switch targets slightly too soon, leaving the old target with 5-10 HP.
Use the convertdata utility on the starbase file from the Entrenchment directory
Try putting the starbase .mesh files in your mod's /mesh/ directory. worth a shot.
The players list is below the orbittype and planettype lists, both of which need their counts fixed. The game cannot possibly read anything below a group that has an improper count. In fact I don't understand why the game is not minidumping. *shrug*
make sure you are changing the extension as well as the filename
Well, it kind of disables the lighting for the most part. Heh. There are advantages and disadvantages.
Obvious problems: *Scenerio should be spelled Scenario *the 'Count' fields should always be accurate. you have planetItemsTemplateCount 1000 and planetItemTypeCount 1000. You need to manually count how many items you have in each list and put that in the Count field I'm not experienced with modding the planet setups; there may or may not be additional problems there.
Post your modified galaxyscenariodef. Entity.manifest needs to contain all the entries of every mod you are combining.
Have you tried setting both minshadow and maxshadow to 0.4?
IMO: GalaxyScenarioDef or Entity.manifest.
Keep your phasic pants on. Jeez. [e digicons]:-"[/e]
For clarities sake, pos [6/tier 6 actually means 7th column 7 labs, and pos [4/tier 1 means 5th column 2 labs.
Immensea is correct that "Missile" determines effects, not damage class. As far as I know ALL abilities use the CapitalAbility damage class. For Phase Missile Swarm to do phase damage, the game would either need a method of making any attack phase or a method of changing damagetype on a buff.
Yes. The Orkulus is the Vasari starbase.
Essentially ou are proposing making planets more in depth. That would be fine and all, but it would increase game complexity by a lot which is a concern for a realtime game.
Debris.
you could do this right now reduce frigate bombing damage by 50% add a DPS ability to siege frigates to make up the lost damage limit the stacking of the DPS ability to 4 or 5
It's Battleship, Carrier, Colony, Siege, and Support. The Radiance and Phase battleship are both excellent against other capital ships because of their anti-antimatter abilities. The Kol is a little different. The most useful general combat ability it has is Flak Burst, which can ravage enemy fighter groups no matter how big they are. But it's not much better than any other capital against enemy capital ships, since Gauss Blast costs so much antimatter and doesn't ha
