I must say I don't really see how this differs from just pushing the actual product...unless the idea is to maintain the ability to make rapid patches particularly as pertains to balance?

The only conclusion I drew from this thread is that some people want trade ports nerfed. xD

"I dont like pirating. Some people pirate a game first if they like it. However, 90% will never buy it."
Sorry to say but that is just your assumption. If you can prove it... do it.
Anecdotally I find this to be true. The number of games pirated VS number sold also indicate that most people who pirate never buy.
I live in Europe, SoaSE isn't being sold here. I looked everywhere, asked everywhere, but no store could b
I was under the impression that it is either balanced or it's not. I didn't think there were separate tiers for different types of gamers...
Let us assume that one race has units that are simply better than another races. but race 2 has a special unit called the Wiggle Dancer which, if you click in a certain pattern constantly, competes with race 1 normally. Pros know how to use the Wiggle Dance and for them the game is balanced. But newer players use it like a norma
200k customers. time in ICO until game: 5 minutes. Gamelength: call it 90 minutes. # of people playing VS # of people in lobby: 1/18 people playing at a time using your #s: 360 - 3000 Average(?): 1000 assuming a quarter of people play ICO multiplayer (50k) meaning people spend 1/50 hrs playing MP, or 3-4 hrs a week. That's a little low. But still, the numbers are hardly unrealistic.
:? My saves and replays vary between 300kb and 3000kb. Just how many are you taking to use up a GB?
Yeah.. Advent relies on the defense vessal early in the game to stop enemy LRMs,
Use scouts if you can't tech to fighters yet.
I believe that the article - though informed and thought provoking - misses the point somewhat. Piracy doesn't kill the PC market, it kills the PC market in relation to the console market. The Bioshock numbers are shocking... Rather, Draginol does talk about it, but in my opinion ignores it when pursuing the main thrust of his argument. The points about hardware specs are very good. Supreme Commander is an excellent game, but it probably should have waited a few years until du
ahhrg. Didn't..notice..it..argh.
Need sploits AI. Wee. xD
Not to argue any points, but Dark Fleet does in fact summon Sentinel (Anti Fighter) Frigates.
Ehhh. Even a Huge random has only 10 planets per player... and some of those will be uncolonizable. But...let's look at that fleet cap again. For simplicity's sake, let's assume your making all Kodiaks. To fill out your fleet cap you need 200. At 500 credits each, that's 100,000 credits. At 25 credits a second, that's 4000 seconds - over an hour. Although a TEC player might have pervasive economy, which would help quite a bit. Granted - it's easier with Dark Armada.
...Homeworld capitals were not noted for their anti fighter weapons.
Well, there's a lot bigger difference between Galciv and Sins than there is between Galciv and Civ. But most every strategy gamer I know that's tried Sins has liked it. And it's certainly faster paced than Galciv, though slow for an RTS. There'll be a demo soon enough, hopefully.
It sounds like they are worried there's a problem with your install. Checking the gameinfo directory is the easiest way for them to make sure. The CDkey is likely to make sure you didn't warez it, since a surprising number of people who pirate games ask tech support for help issues caused by the warezing. Heh.
Hmmm... Out of all the time I've been playing SINS, I've only had one game where one of the guys had networking issues. But, I guess that's a case of YMMV.
mitigation is defined in the player file.
shieldData shieldAbsorbGrowthPerDamage 0.001 shieldAbsorbDecayRate 0.0125 shieldAbsorbBaseMin 0.15 shieldColor ff8FD81D
in other words 10 damage causes mitigation to go up 1%. There's focusing fire and then there's focusing fire. You don't have to do whole fleets on one ship at a time. If you have the micro skill you can set up target strings for multiple groups of ships or strike craft.
Why are people calling nerf anyway?
It can be pretty hard to beat a vasari assailant rush, for one thing.
Well, Advent capitals don't have 80% shield mitigation. But yeah. The vasari have several abilities to punch through mitigation, though.
In fictional terms, would that really be any better than just tacking on more shield generators? And in gameplay terms, would it be any different? Anti missile guns work great in Nexus, they work great in SOTS, but in SINS it's kind of below your scale.
I think the principle issue is that you sat and teched despite massive superiority over the enemy empires. You won't run into an issue with Dark Fleets being harmful in a hard fought game. :]
Returning Armada is powerful, but I don't think it's actually more powerful than other end-game abilities. I've certainly beaten people who've returning-armada rushed. Maybe Heavy Cruisers could use a weight increase, though.
Turn off autocast.
Rather than shooting a lot at one planet, shoot at all the enemy planets. Devastate his culture.
with scramble bobmers you can spend AM before getting drained,t hough.. :)
