Bang on. Mines need to be cleared much easier, and a 50-60 limit is entirely reasonable. -- Starbases; you're pretty bang on there too. I like the strategic choices available, the costs seem wonky. I agree that more range isn't going to "fix" the perceived issues with them, although I do believe that they need to have enough range to acceptably deal with a mass of LRM's...
Lore Weaver
I'm seeing a 0->2 issue as well.
Maybe give them 3 hp then so the scouts can destroy them, and have the AI automatically do this... Cap ships and flak to toast mines would be nice too. I like your other comments, very in line with the spirit of what I was thinking.
Ya, weapons range could be 1/2 the gravity well for some of their guns, and a bit closer in for others. Movement problem solved!
I agree, the TEC minefields are much more fair, although there still needs to be some sort of limit. Once they drop 1000 mines into a system, it's still pretty lame.
Alright, so, mines. Ridiculous at the moment. A few things need to be done. Here are some suggestions (they probably don't all work together. Mix and match, great tastes that can taste great together!) 1) Limit mines to XX per gravity well. Say 20, 50 tops? Something. Advent dropping 1000 homing mines into a system is uncool. 2) Need some sort of minesweeper ship (or ability for scouts, beyond "decloaking")
I'd like to see a "defense" section in both the civilian and military trees. So they can draw in dependencies like they did before, and have the "civic" style upgrades require the non-weapons labs. Feels odd, as Advent, researching culture generation stuff in your weapons labs...
Before you've upgraded your starbase, when you hover over an upgrade icon to see what it does, it gives you the stats for the lvl 2 upgrade and not the lvl 1 upgrade.
for 1800 credits, a bunch of metal, and a bunch of crystal, you can upgrade a Starbase to have a Hanger bay that's worse than the one you can build. Sure, it takes up no tactical slots, but it's still really gimp. Maybe if it had double the squadrons it'd be nice. As it stands, you'd be much better off grabbing other upgrades.
Ya, with the DRM they're putting in SPORE, I'll be very happy not buying it. I got burned by Mass Effect already (pre-paid pre-order the day before their "Revelation"). So... Bioware / EA gets no more money from me... those ass hats.
Uninstall, and install from Stardock Central. Use the DVD to hold drinks or something! LOL
Troll 2/10 A fair try. Swearing and yipping at the developers with lines like, "Did you test this thing at all?" isn't going to get you help. Congratulations. Try going to walmart and saying to customer service, "These underwear I bought have holes! Your company sucks and I hate you personaly. Will you help me?"
I was cheesed about the $30.10 in shipping I had to pay... but I got the complete contents of the box. I find it interesting that you come here to complain about it. You think that anyone cares?
You know, I often feel like I'm the only person in the world that has had an outstanding experience with Vista. Everyone is always trying to tell me how awful it is, how nothing on it ever works, how it killed their dog and burned down their house, etc. I'm just like, naw...Anyway, I'm using Vista Ultimate with an Nvidia 8800 GTS, no crashes ever. My Nvidia driver version is: 7.15.11.6906. IIRC this was the last driver version that would have been released on Windows Update. Perhaps
I've been doing crystal mine metal mine metal mine scout scout cap factory cobaltx5 Cap ship Colony Ship I typically buy 100 crystal or so, but sometimes not, and not right away. If prices are high, I sell metal and buy crystal. (sometimes sell metal for money). It's nice having a fleet that can handle locals around anything I might wanna colonize. Getting a second or third crystal mine very early makes a big difference, IMO. <br/
Thanks Kryo, I'll watch for an update. I'm having a similar issue where I'll get a random crash from time to time, Vista Home Premium, NVidia 8800GTX, 4GB RAM. I've played through the game without problems, but if I play for like, 6 hrs, it might crash. I had it crash 1 hr into a game once (with only one autosave at least 20 minutes earlier *pouts*).
I regret cant tribute more yet to this review due to time limits writing this up and actual duration being in the game.
Please learn how to write before you subject us to another review. I can't even decipher what you're trying to say. "I regret cant tribute more yet"? Say that out loud a few times and see if you can understand it. If not, edit your post so us humans can understand it.
Ya, married w\ Children means that you play sins on a friday night to get away from spending time with a pretty girl! LOL.
There's an option somewhere to "collapse" unit types on the empire tree. (It groups them into stacks of 10). Then you can micro 10 LRM's at once, for example (they show up as one icon on the empire tree) Edit: Sorry, I didn't read all the posts before I replied. Focus fire is good, if all your LRM's attack the same overseer, then it dies faster and the enemy fleet has less fire power.
The Fraiser brothers are big dune fans, so it wouldn't surprise me.
Vasari players keep talking about Dark Fleet. I've played several TEC games recently, and want to get back to Vasari, and I'd like to see what all this Dark Fleet fuss is about. What is Dark Fleet? Who can use Dark Fleet? (which ship) When can you get Dark Fleet? Where can you use Dark Fleet? Why is Dark Fleet good? (insta fleet? fleet above supply?) How do you use Dark Fleet? Thanks
Pirates are a tool, like a hammer. Are you going to wield the hammer? Or is someone going to wield it against you? Sins is a game of questions and answers. You want to be the one controlling the game. Your opponents should be saying, "What the heck do I do now?"
Hello, How's 1.03 going? Any news? Any shareable snippets of what's confirmed to be in? *hugs*
Vasari ships outclass Advent ships, generally. Also, as Advent, your better served by having more ships instead of lots of Cap ships. A dozen frigates is very "meh" A dozen of each is very awesome. As Advent, a Cap ship takes just as much supply as a dozen Illuminators (IIRC). More ships, less Cap ships (Either that, or take more of the 'carrier' type cap ships).
Thanks Kryo, I just downloaded that. It's a big help. I'm in the process of switching my favored race from Advent to Vasari, as I find I like smaller fleets of stronger ships better than large fleets of weaker ships. Tech tree poster helps a lot. Edit: Something online with on-hover type events that expand what the tech is would be extremely swanky.
