first post wooo and i think thats a fair rating and when she said "generals allow you to summon all 4 minions" i thought there was 3 and then you have your things you can summon depending on your demigod....can someone clarify?
There are 4 minions for each General, 3 that are common to all (via the Idols in the shop) and 1 that is unique to each General (e.g Shamblers for QoT).

Honestly BigBad, I think socal's just trolling. Complaining that the single player is flat is like complaining that a sports car gets poor gas mileage. Well, duh, it's not designed to get good gas mileage. This is an MP/skirmish game. If you don't like that, why buy it?

If I want a multiplayer experience, I'll bring out a board game and my friends and I will all gather around the kitc

Because Stardock released the game a day early, the multiplayer servers that are online are still the servers (or likely server) from the beta. Those are being switched out right now, so multiplayer is spotty at best right now. I would say don't worry about the update for now and check in on it tomorrow. The single player skirmishes will hopefully tide you over :) And I should say, Impulse is where the update will show up.

I've had a couple odd experiences with long pauses when I click-through the opening movie and when I exit the game entirely. At first I thought the game had hung, but when I gave it like a minute it completed. I thought it might be my beta profile so removed that, but it didn't seem to make a difference. Since I was only able to run a quick game during lunch, I haven't investigated further yet.
Seems fair and about what I'd expected. I'm not looking for any sales figures here, just a rough estimate on how swamped they think they're going to be tomorrow. Just a curiosity thing, as I'm sure I'll miss the primary load.
When Sins (or maybe it was GalCiv II:Twilight of the Arnor) released, I got 1MB/sec so I hopefully they've got the bandwidth angle covered for Demigod too :)
I'm also curious about whether we'll be able to simply draw some boundaries and give them a label or if we'll only be able to rename specific 'geography' objects on the map. I'd like this especially for the larger maps, where I hope a 'bioregion' thing like a desert or forest could be fairly large, e.g. in the Big Dustbucket desert, I'd like to be able to mark the tile or tiles where a great battle occured with some name like Especially Bloody Sa

I can see the potential for confusion, but I've got a couple half-baked ideas for how you could reduce or eliminate that and I'm sure SD does too (and hopefully their's are a little more well done). Thinking about it now, I see multiplayer as one of the best places for such a feature. Who wouldn't want to name the forest "DrGuppie's Fall" after utterly destroying my main army? :)
quoting post What do we mean by that? Well, at the cloth map level, you’ll be able to label the world as you see fit. Give deserts and swamps and forests names. It’s purely cosmetic but it’s about making the world yours. I'm a little confused
so is beta 0 invite only or not? I'm still unclear on this. it doesn't appear to be, however I see people talking about it as if it were.
As far as I know, the betas are all open to the people who've pre-ordered. There was some talk/hinting/rumors that there might be some form of limited "pre-beta" or whatever, but that looks like Beta 0. If they weren't, I would have expected Brad to mention
I don't think it needs to flash into gameplay. It's an introduction to the game itself, not a teaser trailer.
*shrug* I just feel like the intro's tone/feeling doesn't match the tone/feeling of the gameplay. I don't think it's bad or anything and wouldn't want to direct resources at it that would go to gameplay elements.

One of the best, to me, intro cinematics was for the original Dawn of War (though it irked me to no end that, initially, you couldn't skip it). It really conveyed the background and tone of the game to me - brutal, fast, chaotic. Cut over to DG's intro. I like it and I like the style, but without any footage of combat it feels very stately and "weighty" which doesn't feel like the gameplay (which is quick and full of action). Perhaps, if GPG and Stardock are considering changes to it,

For my 2 cents ... The "pin on top" might need a label, but more importantly and as astonerbum mentions, it needs to be able to lose focus (at least out of an actual game) so that you can interact with the DG UI at the same time. Imagine trying to ask someone about a feature/setting and having to keep toggle between the IRC chat window and the DG UI. That'd be very frustrating.
I smell an important slider for game setup, perhaps as important as the Stars, Planets, and Habitables trio in GalCiv2. Back when I spent most of my weekends around tables playing RPGs, something that distinguished one of my favorite refs was his tightfistedness with magic items. Most of the games in that circle ended up so buried in magic items that I ended up with things like a character with a 'golf bag' of enchanted bastard swords. Tha

I'd want artifacts to be rare . Really, really rare - as in a couple per game per side. I have no problem with them being player created, but doing so must take a not insignificant amount of your essence such that making one is a significant choice. To me, a potentially cool idea that could be used to make powerful, player-created artifacts (that aren't destructible) a double-edged sword is that they could have a chance of converting whoever is using the artifact to the origin
No, I disagree. Unlocking the camera is simple. I modeled a 3D landscape in my thesis and moving camera was feature you really needed for such project. In OpenGL it was pretty easy and it is similar in DirectX. However it is something different. If you use a 3D engine and lock the camera angle, you must draw the objects only from one single side. The other side remains hidden forever and so you don't need to bother with it. It also
Quoting mrakomo, reply 9I do hope it will NOT be able to change the angle of the view. With a good design it is not necessary. If one can rotate the screen, it makes only problems with orientation. And if you allow this, you must handle the extensive 3D graphic problems too and it does not have a any influence on a gameplay. Heroes V has this feature and I think it is useless there. It is better (and easier) to have a nice graphics from one

Wow, definitely something that they can and should detect (at least detecting the root of the drive!). Maybe it should require being pointed at an empty or non-existant directory? Would stop any accidental deletes and I'm of the opinion that trouble installing should be preferred over unintentionally deleting anything!
