Do we have any guidelines as to what issues to look for and what to ignore? I don't want to start writing in reports of "purchased power button has an opaque red square during its cooldown" if those kinds of things should be ignored for phase 1. :)
sounds good to me. I'm not noticing much the lack of icons as Chrome does away with them somehow.
Actually Chrome uses 'em too - the favicon goes up in the tab next to the page title though, and not in the address bar (written from Chrome, so I'm looking at what it does right now :) )

Especially since the first beta is not about being "fun" or polished from a "gee this is a fun game" standpoint, but more to get feedback on performance compatibility. At least from all that's been said. I'd wait until at least the next beta. Hell, since this won't even be out until some time in 2009, you could just wait for your next year ;)
Thank you for your quick reply MeliBee - I'll be cancelling and re-ordering the download-only version. Thanks again for your assistance. It may be a good idea to have customers choose which options they want via regular mail, priority, overnight etc. Anyways, just my 2 cents. Cheers, Etzu
Priority mail is "regular mail" in the US. There are two lower price options, but both have restrictions and

I'm a fan of micro-expansions, then I can cherrypick just the parts that I want without having to buy everything. The trick is making sure the price and the amount/perceived value of content match. Originally, if I recall correctly, Bethesda messed up and over-charged for horse armor in Oblivion and later it came down to a more reasonable amount. I'm also a fan, as Kitkun is, of releasing bundles at some point.
Hate those little boosterpacks. A few years ago it was a ma
*Up to 6400x4800. Yes. That's right.
The only problem with that huge resolution is the LOD effects. Take a look at those minotaurs in the middle-right of the first screenshot (behind Rook's beam attack) :)
Well yeah. I heard before they where more geared certain ways but they where changing that.. which they should be doing. :/ Because the thing is, some people want to play an RPG, some people want to play more like an RTS.People that want to play like an RTS should have a General to pick from to do what they want to do not "oh you like controlling armies so you don't get to fight other Demigods, sorry." It's unfair to them. Not everyone wants to play as both an Assassin and Ge
Ok, so I saw this game, it looked cool. I check the forums out, then I read this was spurred off the idea of Dota I said OH SHIT must buy! I bought it within the next then minutes and was like OK BETA! Wait? When is it? So I don't mean to be "lazy" I've read the other posts etc etc, but anyways I bought the game August 16th and I was just wondering am I still going to get into the next beta phase, and when will that be, or rather, possibly be?
And to follow up Demo
Definitely make sure to contact [email protected] and have your order updated after you've been issued your new card.
When you say updated, do you mean that they can update the order rather than having to cancel and then re-order? If that's the case I wish I would have known, since the sales contact said it had to be canceled. Not that it will make a difference for me at this point, but if sales can do that, then it's good to know for the future.

6 Replies 5,196 Views

Definitely contact sales longshot, after reading your post I contacted them because I had a similar situation (for me it was that the mag strip became damaged). Since the # changed (as did the expiration date), they're going to have to cancel my pre-order so I can pre-order again. I'm just hopeful that it won't hurt my chances of being in this first beta :(

6 Replies 5,196 Views
Well Just don't pre order through Impulse, because if you entered anything wrong and it denies the Credit card you still get charged for a copy you don't have
That doesn't make any sense - if your CC is denied it can't be charged.

To counterpoint the plea for often, I would ask to please patch cautiously and usefully - not simply often :) Yes, fixing a hole or exploit is necessary and the sooner the better, but not without taking a careful and considered look at how the 'fix' will change the game overall. I'm not suggesting any particular problem, but it seems like the same people that complain the loudest for a fix to an exploit often end up complaining even more loudly when that fix nerfs their favorite unit (o
This is a long known discrepancy. The Peacekeepers do not work as they are described in the text description, but they are (from what I understand) working as intended.
I wish they'd either just remove the Peacekeepers event or fix the behavior to match the text, otherwise it's just Pirates with a different name.
so thats where all the screen shots kept going! into application data under Local settings!
Which is perhaps the craziest place to stick user modifiable and retrievable content. It's better than putting it in the Game directory, but why on earth put it in a hidden folder?! I keep hoping that somewhere along the way they add a little logic to allow those to be redirected to a much saner place.
this might been mentioned... but perhaps a row of separate icons on the UI for cap ships. In large battles with multiple cap ships it becomes a nuisance and sometimes even difficult to find the right capital ship (which one is on CD, which one isnt, which one has the lvl 6 ability thats not on autocast...). Also, it would be nice if the icons had a number or indicator noting any unspent points because if i zoom away from a large battle to somewhere else, and i come ba
So in a fleet of two capital ships, 30-40 assault frigates, a handful of cruisers, and 25-30 LRM launchers, it's completely balanced that I can completely stomp the Advent Drone Carrier spam - a race that is HEAVILY FOCUSED ON FIGHTERS - with just four or five flak frigates? That it should be expected that their entire force should slowly crawl around and chase away at a handful of units in order to use something? how many drones? what support was there for the dro
So essentially its a zerg rush, with LRMs instead of zerglings? Sweet. Thats so what the space strategy genre needed. A way to easily no-brain your opponent to death.
Well it could also be like the whole siege frigate thing - blown out of proportion. I only lost to siege frigates once, in my very first game. After that, countering them was easy and so someone spamming them felt like it'd been blown far out of proportion.

Another options, less onerous to most I imagine, would be point defenses. Make capital ships capable of shooting down incoming missiles (or have a new ship that provides point defense). Doesn't totally change the mechanics of the game, just gives you a method to counter the effectiveness of LRMs. Have the point defenses be within a radius of the ship so that cap ships can shepherd ships within that protective field, allowing them to try and close on the LRMs.

77 Replies 49,720 Views

Here's a thought for fixing spamming (though I doubt it will be popular). Make some ships just totally ineffective against each other. Think of it like this: if you attacked a mass of unarmed humans with a tank (no supporting units) in the open and up close (assuming that all the people are completely unable to panic or feel fear, so they aren't running away from the tank), the tank wouldn't really be effective at killing the people but neither would the people be effective at destroyin
Another thing would be improved targeting priority. The AI will sometimes cease attacking to run across the gravity well to kill a colony ship or the like. I don't have any suggestions how but try to make the AI a bit more intelligent on what to attack rather than just always going after the highest target on it's priority list.
Yeah, a look at targeting priorities would be nice. I haven't had any extreme examples, but I did have a couple LRM frigates helping to destroy p

I haven't had a lot of games to see if this is accurate (and thus why I hadn't posted about it), but it seems that an AI teammate may not account for your forces in system when determining which side has the upper hand. I may have missed this (as in, perhaps this is already possible), but it seems like it'd be a really slick feature to be able to designate a target for your AI teammate when you're in the middle of a firefight. Kinda goes along with the above, since if you could say "Hey
