You should probably be thankful they didn't "connect the dots", hah! :) -HM
Hollow Man
There is some good information here, but I will add two things: 1. If you already know something about RTS games, you can begin by choosing a smallish galaxy and doing 1v1 vs. an easy AI. This will be enough to have an idea of how to use the interface and give you enough time to decide what to build. If you don't have experience with RTS games, going for a larger map will buy even more time. 2. Use the pause button on your keyboard any time you feel overwhelmed. In a singl
Hully-M: one of the people in your party probably got the update from Impulse, so it's causing trouble for all of you. The Impulse update person can reinstall, but I would say that if they just download the standalone patch, it'll probably rewrite the files and they'll be fine. Anyone who got the update standalone or from SDC does not need to do anything. CptSiddy: I was just able to login to ICO fine. Frogboy: is there a file, with date and time parameters, or maybe a lack o
He means have you tried running the file that's (most likely) located here: C:\Program Files\Stardock Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Sins of a Solar Empire.exe -HM
Ok, good. But for the heck of it, I downloaded and ran the standalone patch from the "update" URL over my Impulse patching. It ran fine. With luck it just went over the top of the Impulse patch and put back anything that may have been missing or not updated. I can still get on ICO, so I assume I'm still good. EDIT: I went to SDC after I ran the standalone patch, and it said I had 1.04, and 1.04.022 was available. I assume they're really the same thing, but I decided to run
But what if we already downloaded through Impulse? I did that with a friend, and we played a game together fine. Should we expect another patch? EDIT: Hrm, now Sins isn't showing up in Impulse. -HM
I updated via Impulse, and while at first right afterward I could get on ICO, now I cannot. I get the "disconnected" message. -HM
Zargon, that's cool. But what do you recommend for those folks that already have installed the GalCiv2 expansions with an older version of SDC? What should they do to ensure Impulse recognizes the installation(s)? Is their only recourse to add the needed registry values? Or reinstall the expansions? -HM
Thanks BoogieBac - it's on Impulse now (as 0.98b[b].010)! -HM
Make sure your Ironclad account name is typed properly. That information (along with video settings, and 1.03 save game compatibility) gets lost during the update. -HM
Hrm, SDC is showing 0.98b[b].001, but Impulse only shows 0.98a[b].010. -HM
The 1.04 update was just released. Download and update and you'll be fine. -HM
It baffles me that you guys would release another standalone patch after 1.03 easily got on the respectable file sites (Fileshack, Filefront, etc.). Now the pirates will be able to update their game as well... -HM
I see it in Impulse. Grr, it deleted my screen settings again. -HM
There's a bug with Impulse not recognizing the GalCiv2 expansions because it seems that SDC is not putting all the key values in place for them. If you are handy with the registry, you can manually fix it by following what I said in reply #5 [link="https://forums.stardock.com/305467"]here[/link]. I've mentioned it in various threads around the Stardock forums, but it seems that Stardock has yet to come up with a fix to get those registry key values inserted. As to why Impulse
Oh noes, looks like kryo got hit by the "forums go boom" problem. :) Thanks kryo, -HM
Thanks for checking. I passed a message to sales, because even if it's not available, it should still show up as something I paid for. Otherwise I could forget I ordered it and order it again! Oh wait, hrm, conspiracy theories... :) -HM
Well I preordered, and while I got a confirmation email, it's not showing up in my account (although my previous purchases do) at store.stardock.com. Am I just being impatient? -HM
Brad mentioned it in reply #3 [link="https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/307239"]here[/link]. -HM
That's what I thought happened when I preordered Twilight and Dark Avatar, but I couldn't remember. I'm trying to get a friend to preorder this with me, and he wanted to know for sure. Thanks guys! -HM
A quick question: if we preorder by credit card, will we be charged now, when the beta starts, or when the product goes gold/ships? Thanks! -HM
The problem is if your motherboard is AGP (which I suspect it is), it's just better to scrap it and finally go PCI Express. Spending the extra money to attempt to get an AGP system up to snuff is just money wasted. -HM
The important question is, will buying the box version from Stardock automatically secure us the Collector Edition box that will undoubtedly be released? -HM
I would say yes, between one and two hours, depending on how aggressive the players are. -HM
How about a checkbox for those who want a clock? Those who don't want the clock can leave it disabled. Everyone wins! I just want the functionality back to completely remove the pirate base from the random maps. -HM
