As I look through the post I don't see where you said you tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I see the portion where you said the uninstall failed but I have to ask the basic questions whenever stuff

If you are having troubles with the serial number you have been issued or downloading the product from Impulse please let us know at [email protected]. Account information cannot be posted to the forums for obvious reasons. For Impulse related issues with downloading and installing please reinstall the game and then right click on the icon and select "verify installation". Do you happen to have any security software running at the time of installation?
Several users reported this issue earlier and making sure that the download location is set to the same folder has worked for all that have updated us on the issue. This is only for the missing .dll message. If you have tried this and you are still getting the same problem please let us know.
The FF issue on the forums got started in the last update. Our web team is growing and they have a huge stack of projects. Many of them include the Sins and many other Stardock forums. I had something similar happen in an instance like that. Bioware is slow with support (due I'm sure to volume) but they did end up getting it fixed for me. It ended up being something that had to be taken care of on their end as much as mine so I don't have any advice but to make sure you talk to them. Sorry for your troubles.
We have noticed that several people have had the same troubles. We don't know what would cause it but if you choose to run the software instead of downloading and then running the set up file you can get incomplete or corrupt downloads. We are trying to find the cause but for the mean time we suggest to everyone that they download the whole file, run the install, restart, then just delete the set-up file if they wish.

For a while you might find that occurs often. Since Stardock Central is slowly being phased out the developers are keeping track of what gets published where. It will say you can update to the new version but if the first two sets of numbers do not change then nothing else will. You won't see this as often once Stardock Central isn't up and running any more of course but there is no definite time line on that yet.
If you installed the game normally off the retail DVD is it always safe to try an uninstall, restart, reinstall/download through our Impulse system, restart again to clear the cache. Impulse
You can also try manually updating the serial number. Do this by going to Stardock Central, Tools > Register Products. In that menu use the tabs on the left side to select the category then in the main window please set the software name. Copy and paste the serial number in the box and hit update to update your serial number in the Stardock Central records. After that you should be all set. If you have any sort of troubles with the install off the disk you can always use Stardock Central or Impulse to download and install your game for you. I would recomend this since you will need to update your game version from the DvD anyway. You can get Impulse through here: https://www.stardock.com/impulse_setup.exe.
